The 'What Have You Bought Recently?' Thread - V2 - Second mortgage on my wardrobe

Also, got this for the lad to stop him battering the fuck out of me (hasn't worked). £45 from eBay - 4 foot long and includes bracket, boxing gloves and delivery, which I thought was a pretty good deal considering my local Sports Direct shop sells 2 foot ones without a bracket for 80 quid...

Which lad is this? :D

You are indeed wasting it :\
Buprenorphine has a ceiling dose at around 2mg meaning anything above won't add to the psychoactive effects, you will have all the side effects just no euphoria, so stick to <2mg doses to get the most out of it :)

Ceiling dose for bupe is 32mg if memory serves. Although with its freaky dual agonist/antagonist action most people find the negatives outweigh the positives long before they get that high. And, obviously, all this is completely dependent on tolerance and good ol' YMMV. I'm assuming wowens08 is talking about prescribed subbies. If so then it is possible to get high by upping the dose... with the obvious drawback of running out before the next script is due. Doable but of limited value if intending to stabilise, maintain & taper. Fine to do once in a while though.

Suppose I'd best mention a recent buying whilst I'm here and given everybody seems to be posting about their footwear I'll go with the bargain Superdry trainers I picked up at the charity shop for £2. No pix to hand but they're grey canvas with white trim if anybody wishes to form themselves a mental image. Just what I needed - my old shoes were completely worn through ><

PS: Also bought a number of DVD boxsets to keep us entertained whilst we had no interwebz - Peep Show (Seasons 1-7) has been the standout so far but looking forward to Spaced cos it's been years since I saw them.

We got a nice leather bed frame and a large picture. Never heard of the artist before though. Just an unknown I guess but I'm taken with it.

If anyone wants a picture of the leather bed frame Sadie and Shambles bought it's this one. ;)

you asked I'm willing to oblige =D

Filled a few gaps in the BD collection yesterday. Managed to get the three of these brand new for £15 all in.

I've had the Gladiator blu - ray for 6 years but those who have bought this film on this format will be aware that the original transfer had a lot or problems, and with the amaount of complaints they had from customers they went back to the drawing board and completed a brand new transfer (the overuse of edge enhancement and DNR on the original transfers picture just blew it out and turned it into a muddy mess). After putting off for ages (coz I'm cheap), I finally got the '15th Anniversary' copy yesterday, which despite having an awful design on the box, has the second, 2010 transfer of the film which now looks as gorgeous as it did on theatrical release.

I also grabbed

Nice one, Stee. Those are three really great films.

I got this book earlier this week and it's really good:

The title might make it seem like it teaches leadership but it's actually more of an analysis of leadership with lots of stories from Monty thrown in.

I bought myself lots of nice things to use with my coffee machine. Pretty much the best birthday present ever.

Chai tea latte is the fucking one, best tea ever imo <3

I've stocked up on a shit-load of coconut water as it's on offer at the local Tesco, addicted to the stuff now :o

Loved "Gladiator"! Gorgeous film in theatrical release. The DVD here was good quality.

The first BD release still looked ok, as in it was better than the DVD, but the overuse of digital manipulation to try and 'hi def' up the transfer left the film looking all over the place on terms of colour timing, CGI artefacts would appear, disappear and reappear again for no reason (the wide shot where the Felix army bombards the barbarians with arrows and other incendiary devices being a primary example and culprit as they would vanish mid flight) leaving the whole experience looking very flat, weird and all over the place.

The new transfer is a total breath of fresh air, the image is softer overall than the first effort but while it wouldn't be my first choice as a demo disc to show off the system it looks infinitely more gorgeous, nice natural looking skin tones on the character's and a better sense of depth and 3d in the whole picture - I cannot remember in detail how good the the original projection was (I only saw it once in the cinema, 16 odd years ago) but overall this is what I believe is the most faithful home version I have seen when it comes to representing Ridley's and John Mathieson's original negative.

I watched 'Gladiator' on Friday, using yesterday to have a look at the 'Memento' BD, which I haven't personally watched in 5 or 6 years. Obviously the films as amazing as it ever was, but this is the first time I have seen it on BD and to say the film looks beautiful is an understatement, the black and white 'forward moving' insert scenes appearing particularly perfect.
