The ultimate gamer thread, aka 'Geek my Forum'

I like sports games, so I can pretend I have the speed power and finesse I wish i had:\ .
I've played the NBA Live games on PS2 and PC since 1998...always good fun...though recently, many thought 2006 was a step down in graphics from 04.

Fifa world cup: Germany is a bit of fun too. Decent gameplay and graphics.

I just seem to get more play and value out of sports games....but some people hate them=D

Actually, I'm not such a big fan of FF on the whole. I did like VII, but it was just at the crossroads where it had a choice to move back towards "legitimate RPG", but instead it decided to move towards "disks full of cutscenes and a few megabytes of gameplay". ;-)

But the first time a friend brought FF:CC over and I played a 4 player game, I was hooked. That shit's worse than cocaine.

Not sure why WoW is so addictive. I think it has something to do with the fact that you are always making you character better in some way. Either talents, levelling or better gear.

But I am fairly well hooked. But my computer has died at the moment which makes it a bit difficult to play.

I really want a conroe box, but that implies DDR2 and PCI-e, when I still have a most awesome AGP vid card, and some of the best DDR made.
Besides, I can spend that money on new audio stuff which will make me jizz myself every time i give it a listen.

Yeah i fear i will go conroe soonish... but i'm going to hold out for DX10 (to see what impact it has) before i fork out on a gfx card. I'm already on DDR2 and PCIe, but i'll need a new mobo anyways.

I was such a TF Classic fan... Scout all the way. Tearing out of the enemy base at a ridiculous speed. Strafing and holding the flag. Dodging bullets and rocket seemingly fired from everywhere...

Oh yeah.

I will probably upgrade my PC significantly for TF2...
 
saints row = fun game, but there's a gnawing feeling in the back of your head just reminding you "man, gta4 is gonna shit all over this"
 
can anybody recommend a decent gamepad for pc gaming? have not a clue as i'm more of a console person.

This is what i use.

Had it for a few years and it hasn't f\/cked out on me yet :)
No messing around, it just works when you plug it in, and every game i've wanted to use it with has detected and worked no worries.



And +1 for Hurry Up TF2 =D

pick up a wired xbox360 controller, windows XP automatically detects it
