The Travel Thread - I am lovely and respectful to all in my path PLUR <3 xxxxx

We never tried the opium but I wish I had now...

We started off in Thailand, went up to Chang Mai, took the slow boat into Loas, went to Vang Vieng, plain of jars, Vientiane, Travelled down through Vietnam, Cambdia and then spent around 3 weeks around the islands of South Thailand. ... The 'loop' basically. All in all, we spents about 5 months out there.

Where abouts did you go while you were out there?

I've been out there 3 times now. First time was just a 2 week holiday. Then a few years ago did the big loop starting in Singapore and working my way through all the countries (bar Myanmar) and ended up back in BKK. Then just 2 months ago got back from 5 months in Thailand and Cambodia, this time was mostly in Bangkok but also Kanchanaburi twice, Ko Tao, KPN and Chang Mai and Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville in Cambodia.

Haha, this is the sort of confirmation I wanted to hear.
Any specific reasons why, or are they just pale in comparison? What destination would be in second place to Ibiza?
 
Never been to Ibiza but most of the other places are filled with pissed up, underage, rowdy, chavs.

How did you find Singapore?

We didnt go to Koh Tao but Ive heard its good for learning to dive ... We learnt to dive in Vietnam but the visibility was really shite. We spent time on Phuket, Krabi, Koh Lipe and Koh Phan gan when we were in Thailand.

Has Thailand and Cambodia changed much since you were last there?

Singapore was OK but pretty unexciting. I wouldn't go back. Have a mate who worked out there for a while and loved it though.

A lot of people learn to dive in Koh Tao, I just went snorkelling as I've got a fear of being under water. Glad I didn't go diving as if my snorkelling trip was anything to go by it'd be shody as fuck, we had boats zipping around in amongst us almost wiping us out as we swam.

I wouldn't say Thailand or Cambodia had changed much, same same but different. ;)

Ha this is the argument we have every year and it always ends up the same way, with everyone going ibiza. We always say oh well go somewhere new this time, but there is no where better than ibiza for clubbing and good nights out, so theres no point going somewhere shit just for the point of going elsewhere. Saying that only about 3 and a half weeeks and ill be back in space

@trammies depends where you go in ibiza, certainley dont have to sift through the clubs to find the good ones theres that many of them

Depends on what kind of holiday you want really. Lots of families go there, just as many if not more than clubbers as theres loads of places to stay round the island. The "West End" or San Antonio is where a lot of the british stay, few nice beaches but thats where the strip is with hundreds of bars etc lots of english and drinking, a few small clubs. Other side of the island is Playa den bossa, very nice beach most europeans stay on this side, has a few better and bigger clubs, nicer beaches but not as many drinking places if thats what your after.. so it depends what you want form it. Drugs are available wherever you go so its not a problem.
Personally I like PDB because its near Space etc nicer beaches but im still at that age where Ill go and get hammered in the west end maybe for the odd night inbetween club nights,, and its about a 25 euro taxi from San an To PDB so its just planning where your going to go most
ibiza-spotlight.com is a good website for having a look around at accomodation, beaches, clubs etc
 
Aye, go on Ibiza Spotlight & see what club nights you want to go to. Plan where you're staying around that. If you're into trance, hard-dance etc then you'd be better off in San An (as it's nearer Eden), techno/house etc then stay in PDB (nearer Space & DC10).

Personally I think PDB is far better anyway. Better beaches, better bars (although the bit in San An away from the west end, round by Mambo then Kanya etc is nice), better people. It's not as "pissed-out-your-mind-club18/30-drink-till-you-puke-then-chant-football-songs" as San Antonio, so it depends what you're after lol.
 
Na not really man. Other than watching videos of Thailand etc on youtube. I've decided not to make too many crazy plans right now in case I've fucked up with this money somehow. If I've got everything sorted, just waiting on the money coming through, then I end up getting £500 I'll be fucking gutted.
