Nah Cornish, only the most basic of places will have shit like that and even most of them aren't that bad. I stayed in one place that was £4 a night (which is proper budget and cheapest place I stayed) for one night and there were no insects and it was clean enough. God knows how little you pay to get cockroaches for company.
 
Thailand wasn't really a touristy place when I went there Spade.8)The islands still had their rustic charm. Eg there were no places far from palm trees and other flora and fauna hosting all manner of creepy crawlies.
 
Thailands been receiving tourists since the 60s, first GIs from the Vietnam war then the hippies doing the 'hippy trail' and then everyone else. They were all still tourists. It wouldn't have been as developed of course but you went in the 90s didn't you? The tourist scene would have been well under way at that point.
 
I want to visit Tokyo soon too, cheap flights can be got now. I saw £500 return from Glasgow a while back, just cost a fortune when you get there though.

ive been here for the last ten days and am unfortunately returning tomorrow

i hope to document some of the cool things ive done in a blog which i will post here if i get around to uploading it

have been all over the country and even stepped into north korea (at the dmz/jsa) yesterday

no, i used to have that perception before visiting korea too.. u wont find dog on many menus, sorta like expecting all frenchies to eat snails every day

when i came here i realised how ultra modern this country actually is - even more so than japan
the infrastructure is absolutely mind boggling, us westerners can be some arrogant/ignorant feckers at times.. whether we like to admit it or not ;)

Dogs nearly ate me once. In India I had a skirt made to my own trippy specifications, it had a zig zag kind of long hem with bells attached so I jingled about hippily. One day I danced along behind the Hare Krishnas etc and a whole pack of rabid dogs came running from an alley and chased me up the road.

I jumped in a swimming pool.!!
