I want to make a predicition...lemme just say I have no evidence of this.

I think Tony is going to get killed and either Christoher or AJ is going to take over as head of the family. I know AJ isnt even in the mob, but i dunno i have a hunch.

I don't think Tony will get killed; he may come to a revelation of sorts, but no more. For the record, I think the series will end with him still in the mob; I don't see David Chase allowing an easy, let's-wash-our-hands-of-Tony series ending. But, that's just me.

no way tony dies. christopher's fucked for sure, though. i can only hope that a.j. dies.

i actually liked this episode a lot. it started slow, but gained after the first half. it really sets up this increasing isolation, this justifiable paranoia in tony's life. christopher is on the outs, bobby is on the ins, but he has to pay a price to be around tony like that.

i think the theme they're expressing is how much is this worth it? the beauty of this first episode was in the natural setting, being in peace and at quiet. it contrasted with the brawl and the hit at the end, but you saw the look on bobby's face when he got home and saw his family and friends. it was a relief. i think bobby may have second thoughts about his promotion, as well. i think war between NY and NJ is inevitable, with phil and the other homeboy beefing and tony obviously having to take sides against phil (he still bares the grudge from tony b.).

all in all, i hope it speeds up but it wasn't awful.

^Good summary.

Now as long as I can avoid the "OMG nothing happens" comments for the rest of this season I'll be happy. I swear some people forget that the show isn't all about mob violence. 8(

I liked the bloody monopoly house on the floor. Briliiant little touch.

I wanna see Tony blast some peeps with the AR.

Thank you, Finder.

The Sopranos has BY FAR, the best character development in the history of television, ALONG WITH great acting, ALONG with great dialogue, ALONG with great intriguing complex psychological issues on so may different levels.

Not to mention - each episode is NOT a stand alone.

Be patient.

Watch the final seven episodes, and THEN complain that "not enough happened."

Did a lot "happen" in Shawshank?

In The Godfather?

In Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?

In Twelve Angry Men?

These works of art are all great, not because of what did or didn't happen - they're all great because they make us think, in an emotionally and intellectually stimulating way, about the human condition.

People, we are witnessing art at its finest - sit back, relax and enjoy - we're going to be telling our children about having gotten to see this epic while it was happening, in much the same way that our parents get to reminisce about having gotten to see The Godfather in the theatre.

^well spoken, sir (meant for Lovelife).

Great episode. Bobby kept throwing cheap shots to Tony's stomach when they were fighting. Tony really should have won the fight.

I'm really excited for this final season :D, yet also so sad that it will be over soon :(

Haven't read the thread yet, just about to sit down and watch the first episode. Just finished downloading it before. See, Channel 9, this is why you shouldn't treat your viewers like idiots, you don't have a monopoly over what people watch anymore

'pine barrens' was directed by steve buscemi.

Great director, shit mobster though. They are always so spot on with their casting so poor old buscemi stiuck out like a sore thumb. He ruined the whole season for me.

I love people's predictions.

I do not see Tony getting killed, but I think he will suffer some major losses. maybe jail time, maybe he will run off to another country. I don't think he will escape punishment of SOME kind.

I think probably most of his crew will be killed off.

I don't know if I can handle waiting 8 more weeks for the final episode, usually I rent an entire season and watch them all in 2-3 days.

Between the options of jail and death I see Tony pursuing death. This last episode alluded to his fears about his involvement, and further set up steps to have someone take over after he's gone.

I think the prediction that Meadow will take over is kind of absurd.

Though I don't have any of my own.
Maybe they'll just dissipate. Hey, it'll be realistic!

Is it me, or did Meadow have some kind of plastic surgery?. Maybe this is a well known fact by now, but I'm just going on instinct here. Whatever the case, she looked better before :\

Spoilers for anyone who didn't see tonights episode...

NSFW:
I was confused about Phil's comments at the end. Is he planning on taking over as boss again, or did he mean that he wants to take revenge on Tony?

Also, John's death was heart wrenching.

I think he meant he wants to take revenge on Tony. I tell you what though, Im worried about the tension between Christopher and Tony. That look in Christopher's eyes when Tony hugged him at the church...

^yeah seriously man, that look gave me the chills

Tony almost killed Christopher over the Adriana incident.

That would be nuts if the series ended by Chris killing Tony.
