The Official NCAA Football 2005 thread

can't we put aside our differences and root for UCLA this week, LD?

Do we have to put aside our differences? I think that'd be taking out a lot of the fun we have. ;)

U-C-L-A FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!

Damn Aggies had a great shot at pulling the upset today, with a freshman QB and HB. Vince did not look good today at all.

Ahhh...silly haters. It's comments like these that made me extra happy to have seen the current 'SC dynasty, even for a UCLA fan like myself.

What the fuck is dressing cali? I've lived here all my life and I have no clue as to what you're talking about. I think this idea you have stems from some out-of-state kids who wish they lived here, or used to live here and hate their new home.

Hollister is a small, somewhat hickish town in Norcal. I don't think its community is exactly trendsetting for the golden state. A californian's typical response to such idiotic jargon exemplified above: "Dude...I don't care." :D

the whole summer fashoin this past summer was to be "cali". hollister and abercrombie clothing lines designed clothes based on a fun loose lifestyle. a lifestyle that the rest of the nation thinks cali has. the reason why i said it is because when my rommates ex-girl worked at hollister they told her, when she would work, to dress and act cali. meaning to dress cool and act cool and fun. im mad that the whole country would so easily buy into a fad like that.

but even if they end up 2nd after conference championships are over, why would they go to the rose bowl?...

the rose bowl is #1 vs #2

alls i gots to say is FUCK a buncha AUBURN fucking kickers! :X fucking jackass...if he'd made his kicks in the LSU game, we'd be playing UGA in atlanta next weekend. no doubt we'd re-beat UGA and come back for sugar in 06. damn!

yea and fuck the LSU receivers for dropping 2 easy TD passes.....and missing a short FG....those missed kicks by auburn wouldnt have been enough....Thats if u wanna play the whole shoulda/woulda game:/

correct me if i'm wrong, please, because i am of the understanding that NO MATTER WHAT YOUR RANK IS, the SEC winner will be playing in the sugar bowl. i dont' care if LSU wins or not (well, actually i do, but for different reasons), but even if they end up 2nd after conference championships are over, why would they go to the rose bowl?...unless things are up in the air depending on who wins what.

The SEC champ goes to the Sugar Bowl UNLESS they qualify for the NAtional Championship

The reason why in '03 they played in the sugar bowl for the NC was b/c it was set to be played in the sugar bowl that year

^wow how about those Razorbacks giving the Tigers a big scare? Once again missed field goals play a pivotal role. :D

Since when does the SEC champ typically go to the Rose Bowl? Isn't the Sugar the traditional bowl aligned to the SEC?

the rose, sugar, fiesta, and orange bowl no longer have a particular conference allignment if im not mistaken. certain conference champs win automatic bcs bids but i dont think said bids are promised to any particular bowl game...a possible exception may be the big ten and rose bowl (excluding a season in which the rose bowl is the bcs championship game)

Oops that was a typo above

I meant, Only if the SEC champ finishes #1 or #2 in the BCS do they goto the National champ wherever it may be

And....yea a win is a win...:)

is anyone else as excited as I am about the 7-4 FSU vs. 10-1 VTech ACC championship game?? :) :)

so it would appear that smotpoker has passed the torch =D

it cracks me up where these threads go.

dress cali, act cali...

everyone knows it's not about cali, it's about the OC!!!!

OC mall stores coming soon!

My God what a romp by both USC and Texas....

Reggie Bush was pushing 200 yrds in the first half!!

Well its gonna be a damm good NC this year....

However, my beloved LSU tigers are fucking KILLING themselves right now....in every way possible!! Dont get me wrong Georgia is playing very well right now but LSU is keeping themselves out of the game:o

:(

so sad. so pitiful. damn it sucks when the opposing o-line outweighs the d-line by 50 lbs.

Right when Dorell didn't try a 52-yard field goal early in the 1st only down 3-0 was the beginning of the end. Why defer the coin toss if you're too pussy to kick a field goal within the range of your kicker?

Carroll allowing all those 4th down attempts was pretty weak, but then again I understand the kind of message he's sending about his confidence in the offense to convert whenever the hell they want.

Now that the ugliest part of the season for me is over, let history commence.

At least the right guy for the Heisman will win. :)

^^

you got your s/n back!!! Good, I never stopped believing, as my posts referring to you as LD will show. ;)

Man, what a day of pseudo shocks. I didn't expect Young to hang 70 points on Colorado. I didn't expect the Bruins to roll over so quickly. I didn't expect the Dawgs to trounce LSU.

I hate to be the echo of so many sports analysts, but at least the BCS worked out this year. The two best teams in the country went undefeated, and will play in an exciting rose bowl. Thats nice, though I wish, for the sake of massive retooling, that there had been an absurdly strong, unbeaten 3rd placer to play fly in the ointment.

Now on to the insular SEC stuff, which I fully expect the west-coaters to respond to.

WTF was up with the cock-lust the sportscasters were giving LSU. The whole katrina thing isn't insignificant, I'll concede, but come on, when 9 out of 10 asides are about Jemarcus russel's "poise", when his standard operating procedure seems to be running ten yards the wrong way before taking a sac rather than throwing it away, and D.J. Shockly only gets the same lip service he routinely gets, that he waited years for this season behind David Green, something is wrong, and the highlight reel showed it.

Georgia absolutely overpowered LSU on all fronts, and in another season, a season without shockley's knee injury keeping him out of the Florida game, and a season with a stronger showing against Auburn, Georgia could easily have been the fly in the ointment I love so much. Yes, LD was right, this was a season where the SEC beat up on itself, like every season. One day soon, a team is going to emerge from that crucible, and beat the shit out of a number one, mark my words.

Has anyone notice Fl St. pullled the upset of the week by beatin Va Tech??? Thats one i really cant freakin believe...ACC made a case for the 2nd most competitive league this season, from this win alone...

Atlas....I think the main reason why Russel was getting so much damm attention is simply b/s his team was coming in ranked in the top 5.

It always happens that way.....the higher ranked team always gets the biggest lip service....See '01 champ....when LSU was #21 and Tenn #2

But i have to congratulate Georgia on a well played dominating performance....If u ask me, the Tigers just didnt have any magic left after 5 or 6 very close games, not to mention they had played their whole regular season w/o a bye week. Im really gld the Tigers were able to truely represent Louisiana unlike the disgusting showing of the NFL team this season.

Cant wait to see Auburn again this year.....I think they were really the strongest SEC team this year....However, if Shockley wouldnt have been fresh off an injury this season....Maybe the Auburn - Georgia outcome would have been diff. :\

Great competitive season from the SEC :)

But dont worry Atlas, im sure there will be plenty more LSU - UGA title match ups over the next few years, as these 2 teams are now the creme of the crop of the SEC....:)

May i confess....

I have been talking mad shit about USC ever since the end of the '03 season (reason should be obvious since im an LSU fan=D ). However since the ND game ive developed tremendous respect for USC's soon-to-be legendary offense and clutch play.

But shit like this pisses me off coming from a piss fucking porr conference in the Big 12

From collegefootballnews.com's team rankings

1. Texas (12-0)
Once again, there is no real number one between Texas and USC right now, only No. 1 and No. 1A. The Longhorns were beyond dominant against a Colorado team that was overmatched after its first drive. Texas gets the slight edge, for the moment, over USC because of the lines; USC hasn’t even been close to seeing an offensive line like it’ll face in the Rose Bowl.

wtf ever!

Texas might very well be the 2nd best offense in the nation, however, USC has played both Notre Dame, UCLA, and Arizona St (beforeQB Sam Keller got hurt, they had an amazing passing offense), ect.....

USC has played some damm good offenses.....who the fuck has Texas played? Only above avg team would have to be Ohio St (a game OSU should have def won). Other than that it has been a fucking BS schedule and a BS conference (not Tx's fault though that OK was piss poor this year but they were) :p

I never really liked Texas ever but shit like that and the lip service their program has been getting just makes me hate them that much more.....

So in conclusion, roll Trojans roll!!! :)
