Current AntiDepressants: Paroxetine (Paxil) 40mg

The "official" diagnosis was "Sub-clinical depression". It's been working out pretty well for me. I'm really happy with it. I was on 20's, but I went in asking about Adult ADHD (Which I really have, but was hoping for maybe some Adderall, etc) and he upped me to 40's. Bastard.

Hypo, next time you go, just demand it. I did, and i got it, but then again maybe your doc isn't as "nice".

Yeah, I was thinking about that, but I didn't want to push it. He's really never been "Nice" that way. After that incident I've been up front about the other pharms I'm taking. He understands, warns me about interactions if there are any, etc. But he just doesn't want to have his name connected to it. Very understandable. If I was a Doc, I'd be paranoid about handing out scripts these days too.

Is there another name for this pendopen chemical? Is this an SSRI?

I currently take anti-d's for anxiety, not depression, including social phobia.
I have massive performance anxiety issues at school/college.

I am 21. I take currently:

Lexapro (escitalopram) 10mg/day-- Dont know how it works for depression, since I never considered myself depressed, but for anxiety it works semi-well. It doesn't eliminate the anxiety altogether, but it does reduce it.

Xanax (alprazolam) 1.5mg/day--I never take this med every day. Both too addictive and stupefying other than for occassional 'breakthrough' anxiety.
Consequently I save them. Its funner that way
;)

2c-e (2,5-dimethoxy-4-ethylphenethylamine)--Taken it for two days straight at sub-hallucinogenic doses of 8mg. Provided a distinct mood-lift. Thought I would consequently list as one of my current anti-d's. HeHe.

I used to take:

Paxil (paroxetine) 30mg: In summary, this anti-d had too short of a half life in my system. If I missed like 1 day of my med, I would get those electric-shock feelings throughout my body that withdrawing produces. Yuck. Lexapro does it too, but not after just one missed dose.

Ativan (lorazepam) 1mg/day: This did some good, but not nearly the effect the xanax has on my anxiety. Xanax also releases dopamine and serotonin for those of you who have depression. Just thought you should know.

Yeah, withdrawal on Paxil sucks. My company cancelled our health insurance, and without it, it was going to cost $100 to get it filled! (Before they had the generic) So in short, I had to go cold turkey. Now THAT wasn't fun.

Diagnosed in 1986 with Manic-Depression (bi-polarism for you born after 1992) I was put on Prozac the day it hit the market and immediatly tried to kill myself.

Anti-D's: all of them. SSRI's do not effect me and usually cause extreme side effects. Last taken was Zoloft, Paxil, Wellbutrin, Serzine(sp.)

I'm also ADD but I wasn't diagnosed with that until the day it was defined in some journal of blah blah..

So far Ritalin.. stopped for 10 years but just got back on.. it does not effect adults the same as kids. I'm becoming addicted to it and have had moments of "binge'ing" it.

Extreme panic Attacks.. (WEEE!!) Took them forever to get me on a BZD (Klonopin) which works. Doctors are scared to death of Xanax prescription atm.

I'm going to try and get on Adarall or Dexadrene and dump the Ritalin as it adds to my Anxiety.

Change in medication from
Metadate CD 20mg X2 a day
to
Focalin 5mg X3 a day

Suprisingly the isolated dextro isomer of methylphenidate (dexmethylphenidate) makes a big difference than the standard methylphenidate (Ritalin). I hate the side effects that methylphenidate produces (nervousness, zombie feeling, drowsiness) but the dexmethylphenidate deffinitly produces considerably less side effects and more of the desired effects such as increased focus, concentration, and attention span. The isolated dextro isomer doubles the potency of methylphenidate and I could deffinitly see it as becoming a popular drug of abuse.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and ADD

Current Meds:
ritilin 20 mgs per day

Suboxone - down to 2 mgs per day (To get off the oxys and durigesic patches)

Remeron - as need for sleep

Lexapro - used to take 20 mgs per day. Am now down to 10 because I am getting off it soon. I started it the day it came out and it really helps the OCD and anxiety but maybe that is because all I do is sleep. I hate it.

Welbutrin (the newer time release one) - starting with 150mgs per day (I think). I will be increasing this dose soon when I am totally off the Lexapro.

Prednisone and Bextra - as needed (It is all I can take now for chronic pain unless I want to get back on the oxys or the patches - nothing else works) I take Ultram occasionally but am very careful because I had bad withdrawals from that after taking it for about a year.

Well that is enough of the pain meds... I know this is supposed to be for A/d drugs.

Have tried:
Prozac, Zoloft and Luvox. Prozac made me too tired all the time. I cant say that I gave Zoloft and Luvox a fair try because after a week I had to stop because I was like a zombie.

By the way.... anyone have any serious withdrawal symptoms from Lexapro. I have never had trouble getting off any drug other than opiates. (That was pure hell)

anti depressents

ive been diagnosed with obsesive compolsive disorder social anxety disorder, signs of bi plolar , major depression ,panic attaks and signs of skitsoprania

Been on a zillion things for treatment of severe depression with anxiety and a sleep disorder, here's the rundown:

Zoloft: did nothing
Lexapro: did nothing
Celexa: did nothing
Paxil: did nothing (OD'd on it once, tripped out HARD)
Effexor: horrible headaches and mild anorexia with no benefits, when i stopped taking it i went into SEVERE withdrawal... horrible experience...
Ativan (a benzo): my tolerance went up too quickly, so it didn't help
Remeron: Made me sleep 24 hours a day and eat 30 hours a day... I gained almost 30 pounds in a month and a half. My grades suffered cuz i always slept through class.
Wellbutrin: i'm currently on this. it makes me feel like i'm tripping without the visuals. has anyone else experienced this???? no noticeable benefits yet. it also makes me tired, which seems to be the exact opposite of what it's supposed to do.... Update: now it makes me feel all speedy and has encouraged an anxiety attack at least once. I dunno if i'm gonna be taking this too much longer, too many side effects.
Seroquel: remains to be seen, but it didn't help much last night... my problem is not that i can't fall asleep, but that i can't STAY asleep. any recommendations about that from anyone?

So far it seems that frequent use of marijuana and occasional use of psychedelics helps way more than anything i've ever been prescribed... What a shock... :)

i have been prescribed various anti-depressants over the years:
prozac low dose then effexor xl up to the max dose.another doc discontinued the effexor xl gradually then started me on mirtazapine/zispin.i started at 15mgs then quickly was at 45mgs nightly.
at present i am prescribed 30 mgs zispin and trazadone 50mgs.
the only good thing about my experience of antideppressants is that zispin is a great sleeping pill especially when taken with diazepam.
i use weak opiates, benzoes & hash daily,so i guess that cancells out any positive effects from the a-depressants.
i have searched this board & learnt how some antidepressants, especially ssri"s negate the effect of opiates.
i havent found any definitive info as to whether zispin & trazadone in particular weaken the opiates recreational value.
:\
even when i was clean after a dettox i found zispin left me with a kinda hangover next morning , extreme anxiety and a particularly foul attitude to the world in general........:(
good luck to all fellow travellers.....................take care

Medication: I am currently self medicating myself slowly with Seroquel 25mg per day. Seems to be working very nicely.

Reason for such medication: I am a substance abuser, or at least I believe myself to be. I am very much attracted to cola and valium. Trouble is the expence of these items is too high to continue "treatment" if you will which causes me to lash out and become an angry and depressed person who is scared of even himself.

I received them from a friend who gets them for free from their doctor (samples). My original plan was to put myself to rest without pain. Just slowly work my way up to stumbling and then down the whole 1000mg but I have decided against it.

Drugs are the shit. Come downs are a bitch. It's easy to get tired of life like I did. I was inches from taking my own because of it.

Got drunk with some friends and tried to saw my arm off with a rusty hand saw. Luckly someone caught me in the act.

Almost killed a valuable friend to retrieve a knife he was keeping from me to kill myself.

I need help . . . hopefully this will work.

Was prescribed Wellbutrin, but stopped taking it after a few months. I hated the way it made me feel.
Supposedly it's supposed to take like 6 months to take it's full effect, but all it did was give me headaches and make it hard for me to go to sleep at night. Just made me feel weird, like...not myself. Very uncomfortable considering how I already feel very uncomfortable in my own skin most of the time.
I've actually been getting bugged about going back and getting prescribed something recently, or just talking with the same person that helped me get prescribed something for my depression a few years back.
I'm smart enough to know that some pill won't make me happier. Nothing really makes me that happy anymore except being able to make it through the day without getting high. Realizing how long I've gone without smoking pot is so rewarding, considering how messed up I became when I was smoking it every day.

Venlafaxine (Effexor XR): 150 mg qD
Bupropion (Wellbutrin XL): 450 mg qD
Methylphenidate (Ritalin): 10 mg TID
Modafinil (Provigil): PRN (as needed)

I have been diagnosed with ADD, chronic refractory depression and anixety/panic disorder over the past 5 years. The ADD and the depression have almost always just been with me, the panic disorder started to become more and more apparent in high school, then in undergraduate school.

I have taken: Zoloft (up to 200 mg qD), Prozac (up to 40 mg qD), Lithium (up to 300 mg BID) and have been offered desipramine and seroquel (quetapine), but refused due to side effects.

If most of the people who posted here followed this diet, you would need medications much less. Try it for just 2 weeks and you will feel much better.

Smoking weed causes depression in the long term.

I know this substance is banned in US and considered more a "drug" than a medicine, plus not even one p-doc would prescribe it for depression, but I'm curious.. has anyone tried to battle their depression with GHB (GBL/1.4 BDO) ? In the past GHB has helped me get out of a deep depressed hole, plus it made me much more sociable, caring and loving life (even sober) person. Just my 2 cents..

male/23

I suffer from Social anixety disorder and severe depression.
my doctor says my anixety could be caused by my years of MDMA use. I have been depressed for a couple years since i was in a car crash. witch left me with a broken back and in bed for about year.

Former antidepressant(s)
-Wellbutrin 300mg/day
-lexapro 20 mg/day

Currently treating myself with Vodka Tonics (Ketle One) and percocets daily..................seems to be working wonders.

Male/23 years old tomorrow :)...
ADD and Biploar... and occasional pain and daytime sleepiness
Suboxone (buprenorphine) 1-2mg/day (wonderful anti-depressant/stabilizing effect)
Dexedrine (d-amphetamine) 2-5mg/day (sweating gets obnoxious)
Beta-phenyl-gaba 600mg/day
500mg DL-phenylalanine OR 500mg L-Tyrosine OR 2 scoops of protein powder
Melatonin 1.5mg/night (considering quitting due to oversleeping)

Formerly:
Neurontin (gabapentin) 200mg/day (not enough to feel and the doc wouldn't prescribe me more, so I quit)
Focalin (d-methylphenidate) 1-2.5mg/day (switched temporarily to dexedrine due to headaches)
Provigil (modanafil) 50-200mg/day (quit due to muscle cramping)
Adderall 5-20mg/day (quit due to tremor)
Methamphetamine 10mg/day (quit due to illegality and inability to tell whether I'm getting d-meth or dl-meth which I can not tolerate)
Oxycodone 20-40mg/day (quit due to illegality)
Hydromorphone 2-8mg/day (quit due to illegality)
Dihydrocodeine 50-100mg/day (quit due to illegality)
Codeine 50-100mg/day (quit due to illegality)
Hydrocodone 10-40mg/day (quit due to illegality)
Morphine 5-20mg/day (quit due to illegality)
Tramadol 100mg/day (quit due to illegality)
Wellbutrin (buproprion) 150-300mg/day (quit due to extreme anxiety and other obnoxious side effects which I no longer remember)
Ritalin 5-20mg/day (quit due to anxiety)

Klonopin .5mg/day (quit due to memory issues and drug testing)
Xanax .5mg/night (quit due to memory issues)
Midazolam 3.5mg/night (quit cause I ran out, this was the most useful benzo, cause I fell asleep QUICK and was NOT groggy in the morning)
GHB 1-5g/day (quit because I ran out and could not find more - yes it was a wonderful antidepressant... my only problem was it made it too tempting to eat 80mg adderall cause it made the comedown non existant)

... well thats about it... oh how I wish I had an unlimited supply of hydromorphone, GHB, d-methamphetamine, and midazolam (and maybe some suboxone and gabapentin to keep my opiate and benzo tolerances from getting out of hand).

To BmoresMosWantd: Please STOP self medicating with alcohol and march yourself to your nearest doctor and BEG for a prescription to a benzodiazepine, or at the very least to buspar (the non-benzo benzo), or Neurontin (gabapentin)...
If you cannot do that, order some Theanine (I'd suggest phenibut, but I don't think its well studied enough yet), and read up about it... Alcohol will screw you over so bad if you drink every day as medicine... Think of benzos as "booze in a pill" which happen to be much less toxic for you than alky.

I hope those percosets are prescribed, because I know what hell it can be to be dependant on opiates for pain and tolerance, but be unable to secure a steady supply. When it comes time to end the percosets (drool), http://buprenorphine.samhsa.gov is the site which might save your life. I love suboxone, its even worth all the BS I put up with to get it.
