The official antidepressant/psych meds thread

who mE? said:

GHB 1-5g/day (quit because I ran out and could not find more - yes it was a wonderful antidepressant... my only problem was it made it too tempting to eat 80mg adderall cause it made the comedown non existant)

... well thats about it... oh how I wish I had an unlimited supply of hydromorphone, GHB, d-methamphetamine, and midazolam (and maybe some suboxone and gabapentin to keep my opiate and benzo tolerances from getting out of hand).

If you live outside of US it is not THAT hard to get access to good pure GBL/GHB source. And yes, it is by far the best anti-depressant and anti-anxiety agent both in one ;-)

Imipramine

Does anyone know the effects of imipramine (Tofranil)? Also, does anyone know its effects when combined with adderall or other amphetamines?

Prozac, Lexapro, Amitriptyline, Efexor, Lustral?

I am currently on the efexor, that is the best of the above IMO.

Amitriptyline can be used as a make-shift sleeping aid if you dont mind being drowsy all of next day.

I am also interested in trying Zoloft... being an alien uis all part of the territory

Sex : Female
Age : 17
Anti Depressants on currently : Luvox (200mg daily, 100 morning and night)

I have tried Zoloft, but I got the worst side effects: metallic taste in mouth etc etc. Also my psych decided I had ADD (when my GP who has known me for fucking ages..... says she is the one who needs drugs lol) and put me on ritalin and i went nuts, uncontrollable crying and body shakes etc

Reason for being on anti-depressants: Depression rah rah rah

sex: male
age: 20
for depression I've taken Prozac and Effexor XR
and effexor also for anxiety
they all suck
I've been on a bunch of other crap too but that was many moons ago I can't specifically remember them.
lately I've been taking 5-HTP which increases serotonin and that seems to work, it's an OTC supplement you can get at most places.
I also take ativan for anxiety still and dexedrine for "adhd" lol
but yeah fuck SSRIs and SNRIs they are crap try 5-HTP if they aren't working for you either. by the way most doctors/psychiatrists won't know what 5-htp is, that's because no big drug company is marketing it to them, research it yourself and more often you'll be better off than taking the advice of someone that's being paid to give you crap medicines

Ive had bad experiences with Ssris they all sucked and did something stupid to me, zoloft gave me heart palpitations for fucks sakes. So how did the Mood stabilizers such as depakote work for you? My psych isnt the type to prescribe anything recreational like benzos or whatever for my social anxiety so i know i wont see those as long as shes my doc.

TCA's

In the past, I've had a wide range of antidepressants as I suffer from SAD, (seasonal effective disorder) which makes me dread the coming of winter.
I can't say that I'm happy taking any of the SSRI's, as for me they are effectivly chemical castration - absolutely no libido - so at present I'm taking 70mg of lofepramine (Gamanil) twice daily, and to be quite honest, it's the best* response I've had to any antidepressant. Only thimg is, I'm not sure how it will interact with various psychedelics (seemed OK with a low dose of 2C-T-21, but a very low dose (2-3mg) of 5-MeO DMT was physically unpleasant). Anybody got any experience of the tricyclics with psychedelics (lofepramine is one of the "new" TCA's with next to no cardiac toxicity)

* One year, I tried 5mg of AMT, twice a week, and it worked fine (apart from decreased sensitivity to other psychedelics, due to tolerance), but even though AMT isn't scheduled in the UK, operation WebTryp has made me jealously guard my last 200mg of AMT. The Russians were def. onto something good when they were using it as an antidepressant!

I started taking Lexapro 10 mg two weeks ago. I was supposed to take half a pill for the first week but I couldn't get the damn little things in half so I just took a whole one. I was prescribed it for trichotillomania (hair-pulling) and OCD. My psych said I probably have ADD too but they're going to give me some 6 hour (!!!) test thing to see if I have it. I think I do have ADD but not OCD but whatever.
I hope to get a perscription for adderall or some other stim for my ADD (and for fun!) and then xanax or something like that just to help me sleep at night, maybe for fun sometimes too. Does this sound like a good combo?

I don't know if it's too early to start noticing effects from the Lexapro but one thing that happened is I couldn't have an orgasm yesterday. :X I have also slept about 12 hours the past four nights, could Lexapro be the culprit? I have also been not-abusing any stimulants that I am used to, and abused percocets/vicodins combo for three nights in a row so that could be the reason also. If this is caused by the Lexapro though I may have to switch my medication as I have a very busy lifestyle and it seems like it's already making me lazier. (not working out, sleeping through classes.)

One more question, what anti-d is the best for losing weight? When I don't abuse any drugs like I've been trying not to lately all I do is EAT! I have been bulimic before and don't want to go down that road again but I will have to unless I can find some meds that will keep the weight off. Thanks.

obviously, Lexapro is like any other SSRI -- side-effects vary. i've been on 20mg/day for 9 months, and i've been cumming just fine ;) my main side-effect has been not being able to cry, which is a hell of a lot better than some of the side-effects i've had in the past.

Lexapro shouldn't make you tired... in fact, i'm under the impression (this is what my psych told me) that it will help wake you up. he recommends i take mine in the morning, and i do notice that if i forget/skip them, i'm a bit more lethargic during the day (and obviously i'm depressed as fuck the day after).

re. your weight comments... i don't think you should look at psych meds as ways to solve non-mental problems. some SSRIs may make you lose weight because they make you nauseous, but a better option is just to get exercise and eat healthy (try being a vegitarian for a while -- you can eat as much as you like and it won't make you fat).

Been on Prozac, Paxil, Luvox, Wellbutrin, and now Zoloft. Paxil fucked me up bad. When I tried to go off it I developed muscle ticks/spasms, violent mood swings, suicidal thoughts, and pain all through my back. Zoloft seems more tolerable, but I am going to try to get off this shit as soon as possible. The more I read about SSRI's the more I begin to fear life-long dependence on them. There must be a better way. I've tapered my Zoloft dose down to 50mg (very slowly) and began a regimine of whey protein which is supposed to help the body during this process. So far, the side-effects haven't been too bad, but a noticable increase in muscle tremors has begun again. What's next? I'll let you know. Research, research, research before you take anything.

My psych told me it would make me tired, but to take them in the morning because they disrupt sleep patterns. "This medicine can cause dizziness or drowsiness." http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/pharmclips2.cgi?keyword=%20Lexapro%AE%20#effects

I don't really care how you think I should look at my meds. I got them for a legit reason, and if I prefer one side-effect to another there is nothing wrong with that. "Get exercise and eat healthy" HOW many times has everybody heard that one? If it was that easy we'd all be a size 0 now. Please. 8)

Zoloft

Currently I have been taking 100mg Zoloft but it doesn't seem to be doing anything at all for me so I might switch to Prozac.

Sex: male

Age: 16

current antidepressent: prozac 40mg

I am getting taken off it because of the following reasons:

- anorexia ( i never eat)

- insomnia ( i get my solid 3 hours)

- has actually made me more depressed

- it hasnt helped with my hallucinations

-------------------------------------------------------

I'm hopefully getting switched onto a new med very soon. My dumbass psych. thought i should wait a bit, to see if the prozac will help. Fuck dat hoe. Anyway.. im prolly going to get thrown on some ADD meds, maybe some ambien, i dunno.. hopefully something good.
