the official 2010 NFL thread!

What he did was wrong. But he's such a likeable player on the field, that he makes you forget about all his shenanigans in August with such items as that Monday night performance he put on display for us.

how was it wrong? there's no rule saying a player is compelled to attend training camp.

all he was doing was pretending to be retired when all along he just wanted to get out of training camp. childress knew this...

you can't really blame a 39 yr. old qb for avoiding training camp.

if the vikings didn't like it they shouldn't have hired him. so, apparently the vikings didn't mind that much....so why should the fans?

He had this huge spectacle of a press conference in March of 2008 where he cried saying he was retiring. Yah.. he went through all that just to get out of training camp?? I don't think so. :\

He went back and forth so many times since around '04 that the Packers finally got tired of it. Can you really blame them? Plus they drafted Rogers who had kept his mouth shut during all of this shit.

Wow. Thanks for calling me a redneck. It really furthers my desire to have a civil discussion with you. 8(

As for your distinction of 'sports writers' and 'announcers' - well, what about people who do both? Tony Kornheiser comes to mind right away. I guess I was thinking about him a lot. Still, you said the media sides with the Packs. Uh, last I checked sports writers/commentators are more so the media than announcers. So yeah, you were wrong.

No, I don't like Texas or the Cowboys. Stop talking about it.

Does Australia seriously have access to ESPN TV? Does it stream online? I seriously do not know, nor desire to spend time figuring it out. You have yet to really lay out to me how much real access you have to the American media which you are judging. Please let me know what access you have, it's not hard.

.

i'm not talking about 2008 training camp. i'm talking about 2009 training camp.

but, if you wanna talk about his 2008 retirement.....he changed his mind. so what?

Wait, how was I wrong again? Do you see me in legal discussion claiming I know more than you about Roe V. Wade? You're out of your element. Do some more homework on the matter, then come back and talk to me. Did that sound sexist? Awww, i'm sorry <3

Oh, I just thought people rooted for their HOME CITY team!?!? Who said anything about the Cowboys?? I must have missed that one.

You're on the board quite often, so I didn't think I was going to have to bring out the 'LURK MAS' on you. But it seems to be in need. You need to pay better attention around here.

Yah I know my location says what it says. But it's not hard to read beyond that, especially with 17,000 posts to your name. C'mon. Why take so much offense to redneck anyway?

That's irrelevant. That was after all the Packer shit was over and done with(2009)

The arguement was over what he did to the Packers; every year for the last 5 seasons. Not the situation with him joining the Vikings late.

My bad. I don't spend a lot of time in this forum. I wonder why.

I'm confused about what you think my home team is and/or why I have to root for them? Huh?

Please answer my questions in the second paragraph. Why is this so hard? Are you not from Australia? I'm not going to sift through your previous posts to figure it out.

It was from Second Opinion...'50 states' thead. Don't go sifting, I just thought somebody with an IQ as high as yours would remember. Hell, I'm a dumbass and I remember.

Hahah then where do you spend all your 17,684 posts' worth of time? Just for future reference

Oh yeah, the other thread where you called people rednecks. Must be a pasttime. :)

FYI, you would notice in that thread that I've lived all over the place. I lived in Houston for a grand total of 3 1/2 years. I said I grew up there thus have probably not lived there past 2002. The Houston Texans weren't even there when I lived there. They had the Oilers when I was there (between the ages of like 6-9, thus didn't have much of a grasp of the total game) which moved to Tennessee and became the Titans. So no, there's no fucking way I'm a Houston Texans fan.

I lived in Chicago or in a burb of Chicago for 12 years of my life so it makes a lot more sense that I'm a Bears fan than a fan of a team that didn't even exist at the time I lived in Texas.

LURK MOAR yourself if you're going to make assumptions about my 'home town'.

You have to be from Australia. I don't know off-hand because I tend to forget abrasive posts. I hope you enjoyed your one totally irrelevant American Bowl game in Sydney. =D

she's supposed to remember where you live by something you said in some other forum?

wow.

and getting back to the whole farve thing. you don't know wtf you're talking about....just drop it.

he's a football player. a football player with a career. his career no longer jived with what was going on in green bay. he and the coach were at odds. it was time for him to leave. he left. the end. get over it.

wow.

Who are you? Her attorney/bodyguard? Hey Johnny Cochran, she had posted in that thread smart guy. How do you think I remembered where she had lived? Christ.

He didn't just leave. He left and came back multiple times. They were at odds because of his wish washy decision making. He went and played in New York for a year JUST so he could come and play for the Vikings and beat his old team.(he couldn't go the Vikings in '08 because of stipulations in his contract)

Sports writers on the other hand, Woody Paige, Kevin Blackistone, Tim Cowlishaw, Bill Plaschke, etc(these names ring a bell from anywhere?) who are payed for their opinion, MOSTLY back the Packers and their decision.

you obviously watch "around the horn." that's not a very wide range of sportswriters that you cited.

and I"M her body guard. =D

Uh oh^ Looks like Roarker brought backup from NEMD. Thanks for your input Pander BEar. haha. You know anything about Brett Favre, or the NFL in general? Or you just stop by to hold Roarker's hand?

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Micheal Wilbon, Tony Kornhesier, Micheal Smith, J.A. Adande, Skip Bayless(hate him), The 2 Stews, Bob Ryan, Dan Lebartard, Jackie Macmullan, Jay Mariotti just to name a few more. Yah, those are all ones on ESPN, but you think they don't pick the best ones in the country to be on shows such as ATH and PTI?

No, I don't get the Washington Post so I watch shows such as PTI to get their opinions.

I hope she pays you well. :D

Whoa this thread blew up the last couple of days...

After watching the last two Viking games @ the Metrodome...I've been amazed at how many homer calls they've gotten. It'll be interesting to see if this trend continues. It wasn't Pittsburgh/Seattle Superbowl bad...but it was pretty bad and I don't think anyone's in the wrong to say a few of the calls were questionable. Does that mean Minnesota won because of the refs? No...but they got a little help. Maybe not as much help as the Pats got against the Ravens...but yeah...there were some homer calls.

Kbstoner...it's easy to hate Brett Favre...especially for me, as a Niner fan. ;) When Brett went to the Vikings I didn't know if I hated him or the Packers more. After last week, I definitely hate Brett more heh.

With Jaworski and Gruden...man the constant Favre cocksucking was unbearable on MNF. "I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS GUY'S GOING TO TURN 40!" The videos of him practicing in Green Bay, talking to Gruden, blah blah blah... it was ridiculous. Granted, dude played like 'ol Brett and had a tremendous game...but yeah, to say the commentators were blowing him all game long is a mere understatement. :)

Anyway...let's get on to week 5. Damn I'm getting excited. FINALLY CRABTREE SIGNS! WOOOOO

And Axl...just to temper your excitement about Mendenhall...it was the Chargers man. They can't stop anyone's run game this year with Jamal Williams out for the year and Olshansky now a Cowboy.

can we please cool it on the ad-homs? I come here for spirited, intelligent sports debate. if I wanted to sink to this level I would just walk out of my house and yell "BUCKEYES SUCK" to the nearest group of drunk people. any more infractions and I will edit your post to make it look like you are the intern of Skip Bayless and you are having an affair with him.

I shouldn't be as hyped about Mendy getting 150 plus against a mediocre at best San Diego Chargers defense... but what can I say? I am. it was just devastating as a life long Steelers fan to see the Pittsburgh O have little to no run offense this year and most of last year. I'm not expecting big things, but I had a very low opinion of Rashard Mendenhall for most of his pro career.

I would say no opinion since he was taken out on his first big hit he took from Ray Ray. :p I was just as excited to see him run like that too. Yes the SD isnt good and they have 2 not-so-stellar teams coming up but now is the time for them to re-build the confidence and swagger. And not to mention get Troy back on the field for the rest of the season!
