the official 2010 NFL thread!

Game-altering bad calls you say? What have these Conspirators had against the Bills for the past 2 decades?

WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM US MOTHERFUCKERS??????

to illustrate my point - right before halftime when the Packers intercepted the Brett Favre pass in the endzone... that was clearly not defensive pass interference, or whatever bullshit penalty just called. the defender made an excellent play on the ball, and excellent plays should be rewarded in the NFL (as long as they are legal, which I will say with 100 percent assurance- it was).

The Packers were also offsides on that play. Either way, they werent getting the interception.

Week 4 top 10:

1 NY Giants
2 Saints
3 Vikings
4 Eagles
5 Colts
6 Patsies
7 Ravens
8 Bears
9 Steelers
10 49ers

I'm waiting for the 4-0 Broncos to beat someone decent (I know, "Who have the 49ers beaten?") to consider them in my top 10. And well, the 49ers D looks about ready for primetime. Patrick Willis is amazing.

they want your delicious chicken wings, bro.

Wyld, did you see that Steelers game? that game was off the chains. it looked easy going when Pittsburgh scored three easy touchdowns in a row, before halftime, but Phillip Rivers has some weaponary and he used them to get close.

the best thing as a Steeler fan was watching Rashard Mendenhall rack up an easy-for-him 150 yards. last week, Coach Mike Tomlin benched Mendenhall because he was having problems concentrating (knowing the plays). this week, Coach was forced into using him because Willie Parker was injured. Mendenhall was amazing! I knew he was good because I saw a couple of his games in college, but what he did that night made every Pittsburgh Steeler fan smile.

finally, we have a run game!

you guys want to do Top 10, now?

Axl's Top 10:

1. Giants
2. Colts
3. Vikings
4. Saints
5. Ravens
6. Jets
7. Broncos
8. Patriots
9. Bears
10. Steelers

oh the parity! it gets me so excited knowing that any one of those top teams could beat any one of the others.

I bet you'd be all over his shaft Roarker. Do Wranger butts drive you nuts?

Dude, they show replays even when it seems one team is being favored..you're trying to claim the entire 'network' was behind Favre?!? You're a smart girl, so c'mon with all your conspiracy theories. :\

Most media types back the Packers when it comes to the whole Favre drama anyway. Pretty much everybody cept his former teammates/friends.

I don't need old, smelly Favre shaft. Ew.

Stop taking me so literally. Of course the majority of the network didn't give a shit... they just want viewership. I was being sort of facetious. That said it was pretty clear who the announcers were rooting for. I don't know how you couldn't see that by watching the game.

Do you watch ESPN at all? They all LOVE Favre. I think the most negative thing I've heard any commentator say is "it's annoying that all we talk about is Favre".

You're a literal type personality ;) It's hard to not like him. I don't like all his off-season bullshit drama. I actually said 'forget him' after all this retiring/unretiring stuff, but the way he played last night just makes it hard has hell not to like him.

Gruden was Favre's quaterback coach during his early Green Bay days, so of course he's gonna like him. Jaworksi is just a big goober. Torico usually stays pretty neutral.

The only one that openly, and obviously admires Favre is Madden. He makes not effort to hide it.

I did watch. The 4th qtr D is sucking!

I really hope this begins a win streak though. If the run game gets going and when Troy is back at or near 100%, I dont believe this team is very beatable. Mendy looked good and hopefully he keeps his head in the game because he is very sorely needed.

I'm with AmorRoark in this arguement. I believe that the majority of the national media is Favre-obsessed and I believe that some of the calls were blown against the Packers, due to Vegas. as a Steelers fan, I hear this argument against the Pittsburgh Steelers on many occasions, but most notably during our two SuperBowl wins.

I think you guys are downplaying how much the media and Vegas has to do with wins and losses in today's National Football League. the truth is out there

I understand that. Hell, I am friends with the sons of an NFL ref who received endless crap for a call he made during a Super Bowl. I get it. But I can still, and it's fairly natural to, complain.

Being able to throw the ball well and being a great quarterback doesn't really make me like a player by itself. Sure, having great ability elevates the possibility of liking a pro star for most people but Favre completely tore down the immediate possibility of me liking him with this off-season bullshit. Hell, I'm a Bears fan and I find Favre's actions retarded.

That said, I can see why he would still want to play. He still has it.

Are you kidding? Do you just mean of the announcers who were working that specific game? There are a TON of sports announcers/commentators who have spoke of their undying love of Favre. Do you watch any SportsCenter? Around the Horn? PTI? WAT.

^ahahah is that a challenge??? If you payed attention to my post, you'd see that I listed the 3 announcers for the game. :)

You remind me of Skip Bayless with your negativity!! Hhaaha a Bear's fan? You really have no room to complain about diva quaterbacks when you have Cutler. At least Favre has a ring and 3 MVPs. Dosen't qualify anybody to act like a diva, but what the hell has that runny-nosed punk from Denver ever done??

To answer your first and second sentence...WINNING CURES ALL. You should know that line Miss PTI. If Favre takes the Vikings to the Super Bowl, you think anybody's gonna be talking about the preseason drama?!? Get over it, he's back....and he looked better last night than he has in 12 years.

*you're supposed to be a Texans fan anyway. Where's your loyalty??????????

We're discussing how we feel about Favre. If I'm negative so be it at least I'm not trying to be snippy. :)

Obviously we just disagree about liking Favre as a person. I don't know why we're belaboring the point. I don't like his attitude. Who cares? There's really nothing to argue about when something is so subject to personal preference.

That said I don't have to like Cutler either and still be a fan of the Bears. Hell, if I were a Vikings fan I wouldn't be like "fuck the Vikings because of Favre!", I'd just not like Favre and be just as excited when Favre made a good play/ helped win the game.

I don't have to agree with PTI anyway lol.

I'm confused, where did you say "just out of the 3 announcers in the game only Madden backs him"? You said "most of the media backs the Packers" (which isn't true). You still have not answered my question as to what kind of exposure you have to sports commentators/announcers in the US outside the ones in the game? If you're going to make sweeping comments like the one I just alluded to you should probably watch more than just the game. ;)

Ok. I think we need to establish the difference between 'announcers' and 'sports writers.' Announcers are instructed to be more non-partisan and just call the game as they see it with a little commentary thrown in there. So you can't really get an idea on how they feel about it(minus a few bold ones who don't mind sharing their opinion on the matter)

Sports writers on the other hand, Woody Paige, Kevin Blackistone, Tim Cowlishaw, Bill Plaschke, etc(these names ring a bell from anywhere?) who are payed for their opinion, MOSTLY back the Packers and their decision.

Now, they may like Favre as a player, but they feel he was in the wrong they way he flip flopped back and forth. Kinda like me. That's my point here Roark. What he did was wrong. But he's such a likeable player on the field, that he makes you forget about all his shenanigans in August with such items as that Monday night performance he put on display for us.

You just don't like him because he's a redneck and you've tried to squash all your redneck ties. It's ok. Even though you've moved to Shit-cago, I know you still have a little red on that neck of yours. At least I can still see it.

EDit: You never answered MY last question. Where's your <3 for Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson??? :D
