If you don't want to focus on late game heroics then don't call him clutch. its really rather simple. That's what the term means, big guy. Just because you re-define the term doesn't mean the way it's typically used applies.



People consider Obama a Nigerian-born terrorist, I'm not sure what relevance that has to this discussion either. I didn't know these mysterious "people" you've consulted with determine the "clutch" list solely on 100% accuracy of buzzer beaters (which would be a list of ZERO).

I'm not sure if you're lumping me in with these "people" but the logic you're attributing to me certainly isn't mine.

I've done a lot of tutoring so if you'd like help reviewing definitions such as 'clutch' or 'logic' I'd be happy to set something up.

The word "clutch" can be defined in multiple ways...I'm not sure why this is so hard for you to follow. One can be "clutch" in terms of buzzer beaters. One can be "clutch" in the way they carry a team the last few minutes of a game. There isn't a singular definition to the word "clutch" in basketball terms. Its situationally dependent.

There are a few NBA writers and ESPN analysts who have questioned Kobe's ability to be clutch in the waning moments of a game. I'm not making this up, so again, please don't act like I am throwing things to the wind to validate my point.

I find it funny that you ask me for statistical data to backup my point whereas you have provided 0. I have provided specific games to support my argument. You counter this by saying, "you can't simply point to a few games when the guy has taken 13,000,000 shots in his career." (Paraphrasing)

I think this is a fruitless argument between you and I because you have resorted to undermining me, instead of trying to have an actual debate. I know the game, followed the game for 20+ years, and try my best to stay objectively honest when analyzing players and teams.

I'd gladly debate you on any basketball topic, any time , any day....Hopefully you can keep up.

I should be more conscientious of how I address people and you certainly deserve to be respected and I'm sorry that I came off disrespectful toward you. You're absolutely right that this discussion isn't fruitful and I concede that you make some good points... the term 'clutch' can certainly have a variety of meanings and I won't deny that if it came down to it, I'd rather have LeBron on my team at the end of a close game than MOST other players.

I look forward to your contributions to the discussion here throughout the rest of the playoffs.

How do you see these playoffs playing out?
 
Russell Westbrook. Hm. He reminds me of Josh Howard in a way. All the talent to be a Bon-a-fide superstar, but not all there mentally. It might just be because he is young, but I think it has more to do with being able to control his emotions better and make better decisions. Hell, maybe he should be a two guard instead. I don't know. There's something off about him, I just don't know what. Is he going to be one of those players that try to keep it too real? I don't know. I think he is going the be the leagues next Allen Iverson. Great player, just not all there off the court and mentally.
 
^^^ ive also thought about what it would be like having westbrook at the 2 guard and maynor at the point. but the simple fact of the matter is westbrook is a flat out better passer than maynor. westbrook averages 2 more assists per 48mins that maynor and also more the Drose for that matter. you wouldnt be taking full advantage of the mans abilities by moving him to 2 guard. not getting the most out of your player = bad coaching imo.

I think he is just young and wanting to win so bad in these playoffs, hes choosing to shoot more than his regular season self would.

just because the guy can score doesnt mean hes not a great point guard. dont forget he was in the top 10 in both assists per game and per 48mins in the entire nba this season.

hes a legit point, the playoffs can just do funky things to a players brain.

For me it has more to do with his attitude. He gets angry to the point he can't control it when he is struggling on the offensive end. It's great to have a point guard that can score at will, but they have to be able to balance that and control his team and the flow of the game. Deron Williams, CPIII. They can score 30 on you at any time. They don't have a problem keeping their emotions in check though. Westbrook seems more content if he is going off for 35 and 12 but his team is losing than vise versa. He isn't the type of player I would want running my team, atleast not at this point of his career.
 
Awesome game so far, loving the defense from both teams. Couldn't have asked for a better ECF.
 
I don't get why the Heat don't just run the Wade/Bron pick and roll to close games out. It's so hard to defend. Sick of Spoelstra's approach of giving LeBron the ball and hoping for the best.
 
It's working right now, why change it? Miami looks formidable. They aren't beating Chicago in 5 though. Chicago is too good. Miami may well be on their way to not 1, not 2, not 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. But there will be some road blocks in their way. Namely Chicago and OKC. Young and extremely talented teams that haven't reached their peak yet. And how about Kevin Durant's ceiling? He has no idea what his true potential is yet, and he is already the two time scoring champion. God he is going to be amazing. He's still so raw. Once he realizes his potential, game over. Everyone else will be playing for second.

He looks like a raptor. As a Heat fan, I love that guttural scream he lets out when he breaks a game open. Motherfucker looks straight crazy.

Combine that with the way LeBron bobs his head up and down and Wade mad-dogs the world, and you can see why Miami has all of a sudden become a basketball city for life.

I know some people say it isn't classy, but I loved the fuck Barkely chants. Motherfucker has been the biggest Miami hater in the world, and he deserves it. I think he just needs some friends, and he is hoping LeBron can join him in the no-rings club.
 
wtf happened to Joakim Noah's ugly ass tonight? he forgot how to play defense against the almighty Chris Bosh and only scored a point or two. to top it off he called an opposing fan a faggot. I truly want the Bulls to win, but damn do I hate Noah
