Section 4 of the BLUA states that it's not permitted to:

Sensibilities have nothing to do with it. The content of the Lounge is going as quickly downhill as it did with the trolling (also a BLUA violation).

Is Bluelight now a democracy or something?

you can certainly delude yourself to that as long as you want, but frankly, it is just that...a delusion. just because there are many who share it doesn't make it anything else.

but then again, i guess that is what i get when i participate in such a juvenile forum. it was fun till i realized that it only goes so far.

sorry for being such a party pooper, but even i have my limits.

oh and, that was my dramatic turn my head and leave the lounge, in case you missed it.

Once you start censoring, you'll never stop. Ever. You let one thing that offends one person get by and it'll be a tantrum over it at some point. There's nothing in this world that doesn't hold that potential. Applying it to SLR and CEP is a bit different than applying it to say the Lounge.

For a real world example, what's ok for south park, the chapelle show, stand up comedy routines, even mild prime time sitcoms, would not be ok on our 6 o'clock news, or coming from a politician's mouth.

And i've stated before. WHen the "clean up period" occured in the lounge, it was about redundancy, and the "poop" threads were not the only victim of that. Picture and video threads were as well. It had nothing to do with it being offensive.
 
come on guys, we're retreading all this shit now. This has all been addressed and this conversation is crossing the line of redundancy.

On a side note, this is just a random comment but....

I love how so many of you take the time to analyze the "rise and fall of bluelight." You take the time to determine why the lounge is "not what it used to be." It's absolutely hilarious to me. This board will never get old to me as long as people continue to care an absurd amount about it.

like i stated before, it was in extreme bad taste....

but the person busted on, hasn't complained. No offense darthmom, none at all, but i don't know why your fighting her battle for her so hard? kitty knows me well enough that if it got to her bad enough all she'd have to do is shoot me an IM and i would've put an end to it. She's ok :)

I for one don't think it should be standard and ok. I'm stating that flat out. Personal attacks for the most part are not applauded. Mild ones and playful ones slide, the occassional flame happens, but the roast is a different animal all together. Like i said, i don't support the comment, but it's over and it's done with. In fact, it's even been deleted by the poster.
 
There are many things I would wish for the Loung and for many of its posters, but I think the way the mods run and regulate it is pretty good, for the most part.

I'm not a fan of censorship. Let people comment stupidly -- I'd rather see idiots be put in their place by other posters than simply muffled. Generally speaking.

Really terrible, specific, personal attacks I'm mostly against, as such behaviour usually crosses over into bullying IMO. But that's already BL policy in every forum.

But okay, now that we've reached seven pages as a result of my roast, I guess I'll weigh in. :D

I don't think bringing up a serious rape is funny, even in the Lounge. It crosses a line that will more likely than not be incredibly insulting and hurtful. It's not a topic that really bears joking around when we're talking about an actual event. HOWEVER, the context in which it was mentioned in my thread I think was reasonably acceptable. It was a roast. We all knew what the intentions were, and it was pretty clear from the get go which topics were gonna come up. My TDS forays have provided more than enough material for that kind of thing, and to be honest, I'm surprised people didn't lay into me a little more for it. That being said, I do appreciate those who expressed dismay and those who stood up for me. I'm really really glad that people care enough about me to have said something, and it's important to make yourself heard when you are offended. When boundaries are crossed, we should never acquiesce.

But another however, when the whole LID thing happened, everyone just mocked her further. The fact that so much shit hit the fan when it was suddenly about a long time member does say something, and that something smells of at least a little hypocrisy.

But hey, the lounge is the lounge. It's a place for lines to be crossed. Personally, I'd rather see stuff like this taken to PM before we get all up in arms about the situation. Like I said before, it's far from wrong to be upset, but come on, do we need to derail a roast, then start a seven page bitchfest when someone does something a little off-color? Really, I can't express enough how much I love all you guys and how happy I am that many of you care enough about me to have gotten really batshit insane (you all make me smile <3 xoxo), but come on guys, let's just chill and have some fun. :)
