Ok so this is bullshit right ? I can store them for a longer time ? :) I could not put them in my fridge saddenly but they are placed in the dark in amber glass vials !

When you have a closed casing i see no reason why to use amber glass. Can't i just use clear labglass, with airtight seals, when the box is closed there will be absolutely no light.
Amberglass is only vital if you have your stuff exposed to a lightsource, i suppose.

Because i somehow dislike the inability to see the contents color (white, tan, yellow, brown) with amber and want to stick with 1-3ml clear labglass miniflasks within a sealed box.
I was using largemouth amber glass jars with dessicants and oxygenabsorbers where i put all baggies in before but i wanna move away from that. Once open you have to renew the absorbers and you expose 90% of the material to oxygen all the time while you dont need it.

For testing purposes i have been storing freebases in plastic, glass and amber for 3 years now. the contents of both glass vials look completely identical, the contents of the plastic bag turned brown on the lid of the baggy due to oxidation.

also stability of most commonly available material is overall good even in plastic bags. 3 year old mxe did not loose anything. the only thing that shows signs of decomposition after 3 years is 5-meo-dmt freebase. i also have a small amount of 5-meo-dmt freebase frozen in double sealed amber vials in the freezer. but i wount check its condition after another 5-7 years. might report back then how this little experiment went :P

about oxygen:
if you store substance as powder in an airtight glass vial, how much does it matter that the vial is not filled up until the lid?
i mean, once the oxygen in there is gone through oxidation it should not matter any further, right? opposed to a plastic baggy that lets oxygen through all the time.

You're quite right, it's not really an issue. Even in an empty vial there is a very small amount of oxygen.

so i can report an experiment i started in 2010 with 5-meo-dmt freebase and MXE hcl. i put one part of both substnaces in ziplocks and then into a amberglass jar wiht lots of dessicants and oxyenabsorbers. the small closed jar into a bigger jar, also buffered with silica geld an oxy obsorbers and then this babushka into a larger "coffee conservation container" where you can pump the air out with a pump at a veil.i also put lots of dessicants and oxy absorbers in here and put it into the freezer at lowest setting -25° C and had it set there for 2 years now.

i hold the same material in double ziplockbacks in my drawer, quite lousy, to simulate an "i dont give a fuck about degration" kind a setting. it was dark and cold tho.

yesterday i got the crygenic stuff out of the freezer, waited some hours to let the insights gain room temperature to avoid condensation.

now now, the 5-meo-dmt freebase from the drawer turned brown on certain spots, especialy at the ziplock lid. and looked overall pretty tan.
the 5-meo-dmt from the freezer was crystalclear and had no visible sign of oxydation. the glass even made a short "huff"ing sound once i opened because of the partial vacuum in there the oxy absorbers created.

the MXE looked quite same as expected, tho the MXE from the drawer did not show any signs of degradation anyway.

so i guess... freebase material, and unstable 4-subs might have a good chance to survive years within a small vial with an oxyabsorber in the freezer.

I keep them in an old vitamin bottle a drawer in a cold part of the room. Also have a desiccant bag inside. The oldest things stored are 2c-e (2+ years, still active), mdai (the brown version, also 2+ years, was still active before I used it, odt (2+ years, still active), 5-meo-dalt (2+ years, still active).

I have several chemicals that I don't plan on taking for rather large periods of time (5-MeO-DiPT, DOC, etc). Currently they reside in small plastic ziplocs in a metal container, but I'm a bit worried that might not be enough now. Would it be a better idea to move them into small Eppendorf tubes? Each tube can hold around a gram, so it would be easy to get them in there... I'm kind of worried about dropping it or something though lmao.

Would this have a longer shelf life though? Or would the effect really be negligible for all the time/effort in transferring powders safely and the risk of dropping a large amount of super potent chemicals..?

To my knowledge eppendorf tubes arent air tight.. So I keep my ephendorf tubes in a mason jar filled with rice (in an attempt to deal with moisture) and soon to be an oxygen absorber.

To transfer them easily I use a little scoopula, over top of a piece of paper to catch anything I might drop.

If a scoopula isnt available you could just put a little bit at a time onto a small (ie 4 x 4) piece of paper which is creased in the middle and then carefully dump said powder into the tubes by putting the crease in the center of the tube and tilting (make sure to do this over another peice of paper to catch any that might not slide into the tubes). I have done it this way before too and it works well so long as your powder isnt too sticky, otherwise you might lose a bit on the paper. Also just do little bits at a time.... just in case.

Cheers

Out of everything I've used, I actually prefer train tickets for handling powders.

A long crease down the middle allows them to be used for weighing and transferring up to around 2g.

Done into a vial over a clean sheet of paper allows for any spillage and works well.

Hey guys, I have a odd question if you don't mind.

A friend have some 2C-E powder from 2003 (10 years) store in amber glass vial, kept in the dark. Do you think it will still be active or not ? Degradations ?

What's your thoughts ?

so I obtained some (legit) AL-LAD blotters and wanted to ask if they are any more stable than their big sister Lucy? I double bagged the, put them into an airtight container (hard plastic) and put that in the freezer. guess that should do it?? Anything better (exept for sealing it and/or using fancy gases)?

Nope, suggested to about the same or possibly even less stable. Your method will be just fine though.

I have come to the conclusion that I want to store my chemicals in vials (which I already do), flush them with argon gas, and put the tryptamines into the freezer.

Does anybody here know how to flush the vials with argon gas the most economic and easy way? If your method would use a syringe, could it be done with a needleless vial system too?

IMHO argon flushing is considerable overkill unless you intend to store them unopened for many years.

Fair enough. In which case you'll want to look into using a disposable welding cylinder and setting that up unless you have access. It's not something I've ever had to do.

tell us if this works for you (your friend)?

thanks!

as far as keeping them in little baggies and leaving them in a hot car... my friend lives in Texas where its easily over 100 most days in the summer. He hasn't noticed any potency loss at all... Sometimes he thinks he does when he feeds the plants several days in a row...but really it is just a form of tolerance. After he takes a week off or so then feeds the plants with the same materials...WOW... They bloom just perfectly ;) Now He doesn't leave it in direct sunlight (duh) but inside a cigarette box in the console or in the glove box and its fine. He has been feeding plants this material since before the 2004 busts. This stuff is pretty stable.

Did not read the whole tread.. In my fridge there are 3 LSD lotters laying in double ziplock bags in a brown glass vitamin jar. Now im planning to do my first time LSD soon. How to take out one blotter safe and put the rest back in the fridge? Ive read something about not opening the jar directly? Or it doenst really matter

Edit: there is also dmt and mescaline hcl in the jar
