Some of the 2C-E I have has a bit of yellow in it... and it's fine. If anything, maybe it's a slight bit degraded in potency, but I'm not even sure about that.

As for the mold, I would dissolve it in alcohol like you say. Alcohol will definitely kill of any organic growths such as mold. Plus it will make it easier to dose out.

Happy tripping! :)

I've managed to turn some 2C-E completely yellow and save for the aesthetics it was as good as ever. No potency loss.

Uh Oh! Water in my 2c-e baggie

So This weekend I took a trip and decided to toss my 2c-e bag into an ice chest. Me being stupid, I forgot my bag had a small rip at the top so water leaked in and im guessing some of the 2c-e leaked out. I just got this stuff :( I poured the liquid in the bag into an empty jamba juice cup and let the water evaporate. The 2c-e left in the bag is in clumps now...

So my questions are:

1. What would you do with the 2c-e, both in the cup or in the bag. I really have enjoyed this stuff and I don't know any other vendor from where I got it... and sadly they discontinued it. :(:(:(

Take it home, put everything under a light bulb, scrape up the survivors. Good luck, comrade...

Realistically, you now have some impure 2C-E. Major concerns would be stability of the compound long term due to contamination. In short, it's not going to kill you.

Just be more careful next time, and hopefully this wasn't too expensive of a mistake.

lol since when did adding water to anything make it impure? gimme a break. water is the most natural and healthy solvent on earth. dilution is not the same thing as impurity.

light amounts of heat, water evaporates, scrape the powder, enjoy what's left.

I dropped my baggie of 2ce in a puddle a while back. dried it out overnight, and it was still awesome. dont think I lost much if any, but your situation sound worse

If you know exactly how much you had then I guess you could try and manage your dosage off it still, but I wouldnt advise on it unless all you had was a tiny bit.

See I embrace the water. I just diluted my whole baggie in some water/alcohol mix so that I could measure it off easier. I love having a .5ml dropper.

Well, there's a reason you don't use tap water in laboratory experiments, I'll leave it at that.

I'm not suggesting that the impurities are significant enough to cause trouble, but simply that they are there and may cause his 2C-E to not be as stable long-term.

^ word... evaporate some tap water on a petri dish, you'd be surprised how much particulate matter is in it. While the contents of tapwater varies greatly from area to area, its all obviously fairly safe. This shouldn't cause too much of a problem with your 2c-e. Obviously it may, and most likely, left some impurites, but depending on the amount of water, probably not too much.

Like i said earlier, it won't be anything poisonous, but the impurites could possibly facilitate the degradation process, so I'd store it cold to slow down any reactions that may be taking place. I doubt anything that has happened would cause you to have to up the dose more than 3-4mg. I'd start out with the same dosages in case it hasn't degraded at all, which is entirely possible.

Presumably the water wasn't sourced directly from a spring....and even then, its not just h20, its got minerals/salts etc in it....Also- ever put water on, say, metal? Equals= rust. Hmm.

i would think chlorine in tap water is what could potentially react with 2ce dissolved in water

How do people store DMT

Even if you recrystalize it 10 times its still a waxy sticky substance, and it seems like it would be the kind of thing that would dissolve plastic. That makes the logistics of storing it complicated.

When I got it, it came in a thimble sized glass jar type vial, and was next to impossible to get it all out of there. Plus, the tops of those types of vials are made of plastic.

So Has anyone come up with a clever way to store DMT? Also, does anyone have any data on how easily the molecule decomposes? Will time itself fuck it up? Oxygen in the atmosphere? Sunlight?

generally heat & light are bad for long term storage of any tryptamine. The best method i've come up with is scraping the stuff off of whatever you recrystalize it on and put it in some tinfoil, fold that up and put it in an airtight plastic container with desiccant in the frig or freezer. never had any problems storing it that way. If you've got amber reagent vials those work pretty well too, but like you said, its hard to get all the stuff out of there. One can wipe some reefer or other smokable plant material around in the bottom and get most of the stuff though...

Actually, DMT freebase seems quite stable. I've had some for two years that was stored in glass, away from light, but in room temperature, and it's still just fine. It is a bit waxy and sticks to things even when totally pure, but I haven't found it too bad.

That said, you should definitely still store it in the fridge with dessicant and away from air and light and heat.

I'm going to merge this with the DMT thread because storage discussion is useful for the Big and Dandies. :)
