The Big & Dandy Basic Mescaline/Cactus Questions Thread - Round Two!

The threshold dose is around 150 mg and the maximum safe dose is 1000 mg according to the San Pedro potency FAQ on Erowid.org: http://www.erowid.org/plants/cacti/cacti_sanpedro_potency_faq.shtml

714 grams at most if you assume you have the most potent SP cactus possible, threshold dose is then 107 grams. Now if you take the least potent one you would need to eat at least 2.5 kg and around 17 kg at most.

This is with fresh SP cacti, good luck with it as you are going to need it (speaking from experience). The reward is great however if you hit the sweet spot. :)

Peace o/

This pretty much sounds like a hit or miss type of deal. Is it possible to tell the potency from visually analyzing it?

Pretty much impossible, I used Mescaline maybe 5 times and each time the potency was different while the cactus was similar in size, appearance and weight each time. I have seen different numbers about the potency of a San Pedro cactus, a strong one can have something like 20 times more Mescaline than a really weak one so I tend to use length instead of weight for calculating a dose. 30 cm or 12 inches is a typical dose for me and gives me a good trip.

There are extraction methods but I can't help you there because pure Mescaline is illegal to manufacture, buy, possess or distribute and the laws about San Pedro are kinda complex. I already said too much really, and I want no cactus problems ok? :\

Hope that this helps, good luck. :)

You can certainly discuss extraction methods here- no way will anyone actually extract PURE mescaline, without some other alkaloids- circumvent the law.

I tend to dry the cactus, crush it as much as possible, add a solvent (IPA) to the groung cactus; wait a week or more until the alch. is "green", then evaporate the alchohol. Leaves you wish a nice disgusting (but less so then cactii snot) tarry stuff....

Is that the best way from your exp. or is there a better way?
Does the solution become more potent the longer you leave it in the alcohol?

^You can further extract the gunk with something else, that I don't know...:D But yeah, the longer you leave the cactus in the alch. the more alkloids are pulled....

Hey bro, don't incriminate yourself....:) I'd give that post an edit.

The white crystals that formed were *****, removed by *****, and ***** to provide 2.1 g 3,4,5-trimethoxyphenethylamine hydrochloride (M) as glistening white crystals.

The internet is prolly 99% useless stuff and only 1% is worth searching for, but it's there if you really want it... ;) =D

(This post contains humor, no Mescaline recipes. Another restless night for the DEA I guess. ;) )

Peace o/

I'm going to let a San Pedro (Trichocereus pachanoi) cactus grow. I believe it is right, out of respect, to let a specimen thrive, instead of just coveting and killing these sacred beings. I will use a rather large clay pot. I do not believe they sell cactus soil around here. Will regular potting soil be sufficient?

my cacti arrived today! :)

they look great... hopefully they can survive through a cold winter :D

cactus

hi all

good to hear changed...
do you know if the mescaline extracted from the san pedro is intoxicating?
in other words does it damage your brain cells at all or just alter them?

Looks to me like san pedro. We had them growing all around my family home in New Zealand, we would often arrive home after a trip away to find someone had harvested them lol

those extreme ribs don't look like the San Pedro I have ready to plant here...

Doesn't look like San Pedro to me- citing the same reasons ie: different ribs. However, could be wrong....

+1

there are a lot of vaguely similar looking cacti and that one is probably one of them.
