The Alcohol thread...

Hey guys a bit off topic but i m fucking spun to death and would like tell the story of my trip to australia as european backpackers with turned in a drug fueled road trip do you think it' appropriate to post it here? I mean in the australian discussion?

That's more like blog material, or maybe the social discussion? AusDD isn't really for stories unless they have some sort of HR message.

Mr Blonde, I'd have you pegged as lactose intolerant ;)

I was lucky I guess I went to a private boys college and we were allowed to drink in year 12 at some school functions. "Pass the port" at important dinners, a beer to celebrate the end of the rugby season. It didn't stop us smashing it hard at private parties (or drug use being rampant), but there was a level of responsiblity given to your own actions that a lot of kids don't face until they are suddenly out of school today.

Ha ha, not lactose intolerant but I just can't stand cheese. Not a single slice. :D

I'll admit that I am not a fan of alcohol and maybe my personal experiences with those under the influence lead me to think more readily that harsh measures would be a good idea. I do realize though that just because I have plenty of negative experiences with drunks, doesn't mean everyone else is and education and an effort to alter the drinking culture would do a lot better then more regulations.

Sounds like your private school was OK, ours certainly didn't allow that but I guess given my own behavior and that of others they probably didn't think we deserved any reward. ;)

I heart BOOZE.... hmmmmm...... sweet.... sweet... booze.......

And has caused me less problems drinking that stuff daily then either smack, meth, or benzo's. I mean for me it obviously isn't a great drug like LSD/K/DMT/Psilocybin that demands respect and should be honoured accordingly.

But then again a daily drug, and awesome soicial lubricant, I find it has it has found good god damn hard earned place in society, and should be taken with discpline!

Are drugs still expensive as fuck in australia? Went i went there 6 year ago it was crazy exept for weed wich is the best i ever smoked in my life and i live 30 min from holland

Crazyp we don't discuss specific prices here. Australia as a general rule is more pricey for drugs than most parts of the world, kinda sucks, but when you live here you either put up with it or don't use drugs.

Sorry for the price, but you weed is incredible even the outdoor stuff is magic, and oh my god i have never seen so much weed in a country, people older than my dad with more than an ounce chainsmoking huge joint all along the highway from melbourne to cairns every stop for a pie a the station was a miracle

alcohol has many negative effects, so it's no surprise that it causes the widespread damage it does when it's the only legally available drug. it would be interesting to see how less pronounced the negative social effects would be if large parts of the population moved to using safer drugs.

the best thing about alcohol is that it is legal.. which consequently makes it socially acceptable and not overly expensive

in the end though, it's just as addictive and damaging as any drug.. but because of the aforementioned factors, i think it is one of the best drugs to be addicted to/use often

Anyone got any recommendations for a good cheap vodka? I know good/cheap is a bit of an oxymoron, but being cheap is the defining factor. Perhaps the best cheaper vodka is better said.

go to the shop and look for cheap ones haha , but i do know there is 'petrovski' i think thats how its spelt , 'absolute vodka' im pretty sure thats one of the cheapo brands , theres plenty of cheap brands i myself found a bottle for 19 dollars once (700ml) that was a pretty good score haha , but i find in most shops theres a few ranging from 20-25 .

Absolut isn't the cheapest you can get, it's around 40 bucks and you can pick up a bottle of voddy in the high 20s. Mishka is a brand that's usually one of those cheapies. Vodka is a lot more forgiving when it's cheap compared to scotch say, because it's essentially just unflavoured alcohol.

Are you aloud to to discuss prices of alcohol on bluelight?
not being a smart arse or anything

look for french vodka's.. IMO they are always better than russian ones. Karavan is a good cheap one. Usually low 30s. You can find it at any woolworths branded outlet (ie. dan murhpys, BWS, woolworths liquor etc.)

homer simpson really summed it up - alcohol, the cause and soloution to most of lifes problems

Damn straight. Although in my experience the same could be said for heroin. Oh, and it's not "most of life's problems", it's "all of life's problems". I had the poster when I was a kid.

This is funny. Thanks for the advice everyone. I read Belarki's recommendation for Vodka O at the start of this thread and went with that. It's actually really good. In fact, it had a hand to play (the other hands were a couple of other birthday things over the weekend) in the kerfuffle of the mushroom thread.

Peace to all. :)

I've managed to cut back my drinkin to 3-5 days a week.. guess thats good?

got a question for the longterm drinkers/older BLers on here.. has drinking alcohol regularly over the years/decades made it loose it 'magic'? like, do you still enjoy drinkin on the same level that you did when you started?

I've found alcohol loses its magic when you need it at the end of each day, as I do today. I went through a phase of no alcohol at all for a year or so, but that didn't end so well because opiates took its place. Now I'm on both and nothing's changed, well, I'm taking benzos regularly too. Hmmm.

without fail every single time the mrs and I have a few drinks, we wind up arguing and moaning over some stupid shit. it's fairly annoying

I'm not that old, but I've definitely found that alcohol has lost it's magic. I get pretty much zero pleasant effects from drinking now, in fact on the whole I'd say it's almost always a negative experience, especially if I get drunk. A far cry from the days in my mids teens when a night on alcohol was soo fun and special...haha. These days it's usually just an accompaniment to the good drugs, a night on just alcohol is just...boring.

If I was sensible I'd just stop drinking but it still gives me 'something', I still love the idea of a drink even if in reality it never lives up to the expectation.

No, not for me, not more than any other drug of my choice. I find the use and abuse of alcohol pretty similar to that of other drugs, ie if you use it too much without any extended breaks then you (I) build up an immunity to the drug and you need/wont more etc, I find it good to break for a while, be it a few days or a week or a month or more, then that feeling doesn't get lost (as fast anyway).

I enjoy drinking on the same level as when i was a teen (now in my 30's) except for that I take breaks now and I don't mix it with other types of alcohol like wine or spirits (i only drink beer now).

I guess E's have lost the magic more for me than alcohol, as they seem to be 'watered down' alot these days compared with the late 80's and 90's. Beer isn't hit and miss like that, i know what i'm getting each time, and i know what the price is and i know there's not going to be some other dodgy shit in it.
