Bupe Subutex Has Gone Generic

DG..i know the bupe out competes the naloxone cuz i IV it daily but i've heard people say that subutex has a better rush for some reason.. thanks for the reply. I see my dr in a couple days so ill try to talk to him about it then again..

Comparatively, they are the same. Suboxone and Subutex have the same "rush" to speak of. :) I recently got an 8mg Subutex pill to experiment with, and it lasted me 2 weeks. Sure was fun to have a clear solution. =D

What's funny is Suboxone breaks down in water more quickly than Subutex does.

Hey just wanted to check in. I work at a market research company in the pharmaceutical industry and we track sales trends

Just wanted to let everyone know that generic subutex (BUPRENORPHINE HCL) is going to be back on shelves everywhere soon. This week Walgreens warehouses were shipping this stuff out to florida pretty heavily.

Best bet is to try CVS or Walgreens.

I am in NJ and I haven't really had stock issues as of yet anyway...just checking in

That is wonderful news, thank you! I'll be calling CVS today to see if it is back in stock & hopefully if it isn't they'll be able to order it with no problem :)

I thought you guys would find this amusing, CVS just tried to tell me there was no generic available for this medication, lol I corrected them & let them know that yes, there is a generic made by Roxane and it must not be showing on there end since it isn't available to them yet. WELL, I guess now I'll be calling Walgreens & hopefully the closer one (not the one almost 200 miles away lol) will be able to re-stock or already has it. It's just super funny to me that they would tell me there is NO generic, when I know there is, I could drive down there & show it to them if they'd like to see it? LOL ;)

I've had a lot of pharmacies tell me there is no generic...half of the time its the pharm tech who doesn't know shit. If they give you trouble, mention to them that this is not the first time filling this script at said pharmacy.

Bring your empty bottle in and show them lol.

But yeah, an easier way to have them check the stock/ordering status via phone is to supply them with the NDC number. Here is the NDC for the 8mg generic Subutex

ROXANNE - BUPRENORPHINE HCL, TAB SL, 8MG, 30
NDC #00054-0177-13
if that doesnt work tell them to enter 54017713

Thank you for the #'s! looks like I'll be going the 200 miles again. Both the CVS & Walgreens that are close by shot me down & said it is still unavailable to them, sooo praying that the one almost 200 miles away still has it in stock and/or can order it! Which I'm fine with, I just need my damn script! lol
Hopefully those #'s will help me on the phone with Walgreens if they have any issues. I honestly can't believe it is STILL this much of a problem for me! :P

*yep, generics STILL in stock (45) at the FAR away Walgreens LOL but whatever, I was prepared for it and thank god for them, without them I would have been royally screwed the last 2 months!! :D

There HAS to be closer walgreens then 200 miles lol, If I was you I would just get on google maps and start calling all CVS's around you.

I dunno where you live but if I were to drive 200 miles around here I think I would pass the areas of like atleast 100 cvs's lol

what state are you in..maybe I can help you out?

There are definitely other Walgreens that are closer, I got discouraged last month after calling about 6 that were definitely close than the one I found them at (it's about 170 miles round trip, so eh it's not THAT bad.. I over exaggerate lol) so, my refill is there now & I could get it transferred, but after calling the 3 closest Walgreens & a CVS I decided to heck with it & called them. Sooo, I suppose if I wanted to I could call some other Walgreens within the radius between here and there (I'm in NorCal) but since they do definitely have it in stock & will be ready on Saturday without me having to go through the hassle of transferring again I just say to heck with it, I'll drive! lol

And thank you for offering help, once I go back to my doctor for my May script, I will definitely use Google Maps & call EVERY other CVS and Walgreens especially since I'll have a new paper script & will have to drop it off somewhere new if needed. I'm saving the numbers you posted above too, hoping that will help the pharm. tech's understand what I'm talking about over the phone...lol MAYBE, just MAYBE by then it won't be a hassle at all & all of these pharmacies will have re-stocked? Who knows? :|

just wondering the status of the generic subutex issue with pharmacies ordering??.. anyone heard anything or know of any new news?.. I see my dr. tomorrow morning and would like to know which route to choose before walking in the door.. any info is appreciated!!!.. thanks ~ BJ

In my experience it was a pain and none of the pharmacies closest to me (CVS, Walgreens) were able to order yet, however I've heard of a lot of other people finding them in stock in quite a few other states. I'd just try calling around to CVS and Walgreens, maybe Wal Mart? Good luck! :)

great news

I think this is great news for people...Suboxone where I am at least is about 6.50 a pill and subutext costs even more...I wish this would of happen before I got on the free suboxone program which is sponsored by Reckitt Benckiser which manufactures Suboxone/Subutext...If anyone here is interested in getting on the free program then [ask me in this thread how]...

people have been having mixed experiences. best thing is to take the ndc number I listed a few posts above and just call every pharmacy in the area, ask if they have generic subutex - buprenorphine hcl. tell them you have the NDC of it.

Most of the time when I got it I would go to CVS, and they usually just had it in stock. Not every CVS but the one that happened to be my house did. I walked into a random Duane Reade and they had it too another time I filled.

But there was a few times I had to call CVS and they said they didn't have it in stock and I didnt want to go through the trouble of hunting it down so they ordered it for me. When pharmacies order as long as the order is in by around 7-9pm you will get your meds the next day by 12pm.

I am not goin to my sub doc anymore cause im on methadone.

I do have a stash of 25 8mg subutex im savin though

Here in GA, I went back to Walgreens who said they should have Subutex available by mid-April. Along with that, an $80 price hike. This is pissing me off. They went from $179.99 to $249.99 for 60 8mg pills. Anyone else had a problem like this? With these prices, I might as well be using...

Yeah, the douchbags who call the shots at Roxanne have obviously been pressured into setting a higher price by the company that make name-brand Subutex and Suboxone...it's the only explanation, because the cost of making the pill didn't suddently rise from a penny to a nickel....pricing philosophy seems similar to gas stations all charging the same price if they are close to each other.

The pricing for these pills is pretty much a slap in the face, but then again, the hard-core addicts that need Subutex/Suboxone/Methadone probably would pay quite a bit more than $250 per month for dope, maybe 10X that much in some rare cases, but 2-3x in most.

just to update about my posts at the top of this page..
i didn't get switched to subutex or the generic that appointment, or this past one.
he is one of the doctors that believes that the naloxone acts as a blocker not the bupe blah blah.. he said they only use it for pregnant girls/woman. but one mistake you don't wanna make is tell your doctor you know more than them, or are more educated on certain material than them ( especially a certain material they "specialize" in).
so im still on suboxone. oh well. i can live. i just wish doctors were as smart as they act like they are.

I looked through most of the thread, searched too, and had no luck.

I desperately need a pharmacy in any of the five boroughs of New York City that carries the generic Subutex. I found one pharmacy that accidentally had one two week supply sent to them, I got that batch two weeks ago. I see my doctor tomorrow and have called over 45 pharmacies and had no luck whatsoever. If anyone knows of a pharmacy that carries it and can leave me a PM, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I can't afford a $180 Suboxone script (my doctor will only give me the Subutex if it's generic, $10 generics ftw) and I refuse to go back to taking that crap again, the headaches and sweating are just too much.

Have you called the company that makes the generic Subutex? I'm sure they can tell you where to find it!

You definitely have to try different pharmacies, prices can vary SO MUCH on generic medications...on 20/20 the other day they were going to pharmacies some were charging over $500 for the same script you get for $4 at walmart lol.

Around NJ I haven't heard of anyone paying more than 3.50 a pill..

Also, $250 a month for 60 8mg sub isn't crazy...that much sub could last you 4 months if you take 4mg a day!

Go back to using? I dunno how much you spent on your habit but if you are on sub I doubt you were spending any LESS than $250 a month lol

Everyones different but I know for me...$250 was nothin compared to my habit. I am not dicksizing becuase I am not happy about it, I have NOTHING to show for all my years of hard work at this good job.

I would regularly spend 200 or more a DAY on oxy when I used it, and blow my paycheck in 3 days every week, then take sub for 4 days...until I switchd to dope which cut my costs in like half almost, I would only spend 100-150 dope but I still would only make it like 3-4 days through the week then get back on sub.

Now I am on methadone, I spend $50 a week and I have a FUCKLOAD OF MONEY TO SPEND on other shit now, like life, like an apt, weed, etc.. lol.

A lot of pharmacies don't stock this, but ask them to order it, most any will order it for you as long as their whse has in stock. I regularly do this with CVS and Duane Reade.

It's usually the dumbass pharm tech answering the phone, they don't know theres a generic etc.., but both CVS and DUANE READE will have your script in by 12pm if you order it 7pm the previous day.

Since subutex came out in Oct '09, I have gotten my script every 2 weeks, I have never had even 1 day without. The pills are out there.

I know this for a FACT because I work at a major market research company in the pharm industry and Roxanne is shipping BUPE again..for almost a month now.
