Unfortunately in the states rite now that’s something they are really clinging to saying to a lot of pain patients. Pain management is very different here than it used to he, it’s like they all want to just give out antidepressants for pain & the good doctors & many pain management doctors have closed down their practices over the years for fears of going to jail

I am one of them: that was something I bitch about. I am on oxycodone and was on morphine er also. I used to be an alcoholic (I say use to be because my liver will not process alcohol, I can't get it hardly down and when I have years ago I started itching like crazy. Hugh amount of benadryl didn't help)
I have cirrhosis of the liver and pancreas problems, I had pancreatitus(horrible, that's how I got morphine, oxycodone and lorazepam) in Dec 2015 a month after my mom died from complications of cirrhosis of the liver, I was told I had a year to live without a transplant. They said I had to drive to Detroit everyday for 6 months and piss in cup to make sure I wasn't drinking before being put on the donor list. In November of 2016 almost exactly one year after my mom's death, my sister was found dead, ruled a suicide. I still think it was an accidental overdose. She was epileptic and took hugh amounts of benzo's, that was only thing that controlled her seizures. I lost it went on drinking binge, liver stopped working got a DUI, I was feeling fine when I left the house then the alcohol from day before kicked in .38something BAL more than 4 times legal limit. Judge told me not to drink and I was put on probation and took pain meds( pancreatitus)and benzos, because OCD, severe anxiety and opiods make me hyper and can't sleep.

I don't know about you guys but I have never seen any opioid user (and I know a lot due to my past connection to the local trap spot and current connection to the maintenance clinic) except one on decades long high-dose methadone who has developed cardiovascular complications (QT interval prolongation). Lol major public health concern worldwide my ass. What a drama queen.
Theoretical science is one thing, practical reality another, and I tend to go with the latter. It's unfortunate that many academics can't see the forest for the trees anymore because they get so lost in these papers instead of putting that shit down for a second and just look at reality to see that there is often a huge gap between those two.
Or maybe this dude is probably sensing some career prospects in the coming anti-opioid society and therefore wants to make his mark as one of the "few" doctors who were "screaming from the rootftops about the dangers of opioids".
This makes me so angry! The DEA has succesfully intimidated the sensible, intelligent and good doctors out of practicing, while the dumb ones who throw ADs at pain patients are still in business. These retarded docs need to explain how trams are going to help someone who has broken his hip? There are some real reasons. Oxycontin was touted and lied about by companies and sued by various governments. The fentanyl guy, the pharmacy company pushing fentanyl lollipops, sprays, sublingual films ect, was part of the problem. Then there are the pill mills, or pain management clinics in Florida. The use of, lies and tactics to make money screwed people like me, my late father and millions of others who need painkillers for real pain. Do the research, but of course this is America so here comes the overreaction by people wanting to be on TV and politicians. Interestingly enough women's suffer age is what primarily caused alcohol prohibition. Sorry, I am not being misogynistic, just stating a fact. Crying mothers can be a real buzz kill( pun intended)
