And I'm actually a small woMAN lol. I was on since Feb of this year, so 9 months. I kept reading of people who taper and "stabalize" but still feel shitty while doing that so I just fuck it and just jumped. I didn't want to spend months and months tapering, I just wanted to get the fuck off and I'm happy I did and am pretty much done with it!

Still more of a man than I haha.

Granted i have been on suboxone for 10 months longer than you were, and at 12mgs for the first 11 or so months of that. I agree, tapering is shitty, but i have heard the benefits of drastically reduced PAWS is WELL worth it especially after being on it for a long time.

Yeah I'm glad I was only on for 9 months. I was also only on 4mg a day the whole time. They tried to get me to take 8/day but during my induction she made me take half at once (before when I used it for a short detox I only took 1/4th a day for 8 days and got out of my 4 year pain pill addiction w/d free) and I ended up being sicker than fuck off of that initial half (4mg at once) so I said eff that, I know what I need to do and its just 1/4th 2 times a day. So I've been on a lower dose the whole time, even tho I know now that 4mg a day is quite higher of a dose than I thought. Heh

Dosing .25 twice daily rather than .5 once daily didn't help me much, now i just have slightly less withdrawal for way more of the day ha.

I think I've found the 'sweet spot' for my Subutex dose. 4mg sounds high for most people, but for me, any less and I'm in a lot of pain. I tried 3.2mg, I tried 3.6mg, and throughout that reduction period my pre-existing stomach condition returned.

Also, now that I'm back on 4mg, I caught a nice buzz yesterday after taking my morning dose. I actually felt GOOD for a change. Instead of feeling like sh*t in the morning.

See, during reduction from Subutex, I was experiencing withdrawal pretty bad as well as stomach pains.

I just could not cut it anymore and asked for my dosage to be raised up. So, I'm pretty happy now that in the mornings when I usually dose at 9am, I can wait until 10am sometimes before I dose without stress.

Nice one, Subdetox! Great effort. I stopped at 1mg and withdrawal was particularly unpleasant. 4mg must have sucked! Maybe because I was on 8-14mg for 4 years. Anyway, you are hardcore.

Got a massive case of the sneezes at the moment and can't figure out if it's some form of hay fever, just a cold or somehow related to the withdrawal.

Still waking up feeling a bit shitty in the morning. Until I get that exercise rush I'm pretty sluggish and feel a bit 'wierd in the head'. Think it's a combination of the underlying issues that lead me to drugs resurfacing plus PAWS. At least the weight is falling off me. 10kg in 4 weeks so far. Also finally found a shrink I can talk to after going through at least 10 over the past 6 years. Made a few breakthroughs (as they say in the profession) so maybe this poor woman can un-fry my head and get me to a place where I don't always need something to take the edge off...

@Cap: appreciate this isn't all strictly about Sub/Bupe but I figure chronicling my experiences with detox and PAWS might give others who are coming up to a similar situation some insight. Chop out any of the above if you see fit :)

*high five!* today is week 3 for me and I've definitely started feeling human again! L-tyrosine and B-stress vitamins every day have really helped me this week, gave me energy so I could exercise which then in turn made me feel even better! :)

So happy to be through the worst. Fuck suboxone withdrawals but hey I jumped off at 4mg, no tapering at all and I survived it. I'm pretty damn proud.

Great job!

It's OK, we can drift off topic occasionally, we just want to make sure people's posts aren't completely off topic. :)

Sorry, CH! My posting about my crush on my new pill crusher was intended to give an alternative to those who snort their Suboxone. So it was semi-related... sorta-kinda.... =D

It's all good. I used to crush up my Suboxone pills that way too, and I would tap out the crushed up powder on a mirror, and then separate lines of it to form semi-equal doses. :)

Going from 55 mg meth to suboxone after 60 hours

Do you think it is safe to take a suboxone 60 hours after methadone ? i am trying to make the switch . ive been on the meth clinic about 6 wks and been on 55 mg. my last meth dose was saturday morning so by monday night that is 60 hours................i thought that way i could try the suboxone , see if it works ,and if not just go back to the clinic the next day

Since the methadone half life is 24-36 hrs, I would wait the 72 hrs if you can just to be safe.

i think im gonna do that and if the sub doesnt make me feel better that morning just go rite back to meth clinic (cant hurt to take meth after sub ya know)

I've noticed that when i snort my suboxone it doesn't tend to hold me over as long as it would if I had taken it sublingual. If i snort it i find that after about 12 hours or so I will start experiencing mild WD symptoms, but if I take it sublingually i usually wont notice any for 24 hours+. Anyone else noticed this? Anyone have some scientific reason why this is so? I'm just curious about if anyone has looked into this extensively and can say exactly why it works like this.

<<incorrect assumptions>>

Wow i wasn't expecting to get an answer that quick thanks lol. That seems to make sense. It is rather surprising just how much the protein binding effects the duration of the effects. It seems if you take suboxone any other method other than sublingually the duration is nearly cut in half, and it seems it is shortest when used IV. The reason i asked is because I've started taking my suboxone sublingually after a long period of intranasal use, and have found it unnecessary for me to dose more than once a day. I could probably even get away with dosing every other day, whereas when i was snorting i would often times dose 2 or 3 times a day, and found myself feeling pretty crappy every morning when i got up.
Thanks for the info man

Well apparently I was wrong, so I'm not sure what else to say or how to explain it.

The duration is changed with the ROA, but it is irrelevant to the half life and protein binding. I'm not sure how else to explain it.

I firmly believe Subutex should be taken as prescribed and any other way is abuse.

The fact remains, that Subutex taken sublingually gets absorbed into the muscle that is the tongue and then gradually released into the blood stream that way. We all know meat has protein, right!?

But, snorting or IV'ing Subutex might give stronger effects, these effects are short lived as the chemical compound is used up much faster than taken under the tongue.

This is why the pill *should* be taken as stated on the packet.

I've tried snorting the pills, all it does is burn the insides of my nose! Totally not recommended. If you are experiencing WD from sublingual use, then I suggest raising your daily dose and not attempting plugging the pills or anything else stupid like that.

When I spoke to the pharmacist about these methods of using Subutex, he was horrified, shocked, and told me quite reasonably NOT to IV or snort it.

I listen and respect his views. You should too.

^Speaking from a purely clinical perspective; snorting, injecting, taking higher than prescribed doses or otherwise violating the guidelines the drug was prescribed IS abuse.

The basic litmus test is whether the doctor would still prescribe if they knew what you were doing with the medication.
