Vyvanse and Bupe

my psychiatrist is planning to put me on Vyvanse in addition to the 2mg's of Subutex i take daily. Does anyone have any experience with mixing amphetamines with bupe? Have you felt that the combination has resulted in positive or negative reactions?

Positive.

You'll be OK. I haven't tried Vyvanse before, but I have taken Dexedrine XR with buprenorphine, and the effects are just fine.

Stimulants might aggravate certain side effects of buprenorphine (i.e. nausea) but also might relieve others (i.e. constipation).

i haven't had any negative effects from taking adderall on sub. i'm not sure about higher doses of bupe, but at lower doses (less than 2mg) then i have not experienced any problems.

astroboy, the delivery may not have been the greatest, but i think the general consensus of BLers who IV bupe is that 8mg is a much higher than optimal dose for that ROA. if you want to try to get a more positive experience, doses of less than 2 mg are recommended by most, and many contend that the positive effects continue to improve as you reach even lower doses. i have no personal iv experience, but there is a lot of information posted on this topic throughout the various incarnations of this thread and elsewhere on BL. Try a search if you're interested in pursuing and/or reading others' opinions on the subject--or just skim through this (and some of the earlier versions) if you have some free time.

BUPE and done precipitated w/d

So I have had a life crisis and to self medicate, I took
60mg of methadone on friday
40mg on sunday
60mg monday
20mg early morning tuesday.

This morning (Wednesday) I woke up with some chills that I feel are definitely from a lack of methadone.
I know I will wake up tomorrow with chills as well.

If I take some bupe (subutex, around 4mg) tomorrow morning to combat my mild w/d symptoms, will it throw me into precipitated withdrawal?

I know that all over the bupe megathread, people hate this sort of question and repeat "wait to dose bupe until you are feeling withdrawl".

With methadone's long half life, I don't want to throw myself into P.W/D. from taking bupe when already feeling w/d symptoms. Please help!!
 
You might have to wait 2-3 days because of how long methadone lingers in your system.

It would be more ideal to switch over to a short acting opiate, wait until you are in regular withdrawal, and then go back onto Suboxone.

Even if people don't like this sort of question in the mega thread, it's what it's for. So I'm going to merge it in there.

Other people should be able to give you advice as well.
 
haden, if the w/d symptoms are relatively light and not too unbearable, i would personally just wait until saturday b/c it sounds like prior to the other day you were not physically addicted to methadone, and i would personally be worried about becoming physically dependent on it so quickly. however, i base this on things i've heard/read and not personal experience with methadone addiction, so others may have better advice to offer you. methadone seems to be regarded by many as the worst as far as physical withdrawals go (intense and very long-lasting). are you concerned about avoiding less tolerable w/d symptoms from it in the future? if so, you may want to reevaluate your frequency of usage so as to minimize chances of more serious physical symptoms---it has such a long half-life; i would be concerned about using several times a week, even skipping days. as far as whether you will get pwd from the sub, again i just wouldn't take the chance if the w/ds aren't terrible, but again, i don't base this on personal experience with methadone.
 
this 1mg dose today held be great after yesterday.....i am quite suprised by this.... i kinda wanna do a bump of bupe right now, but i really should hold off....ive been a bad boy lately....

edit.....just a shitty fact, i have not broken any glass in a decade.....broke my sherlock like 5 days ago, and i replaced it, just broke my new one.......fuck my life.....way to ruin a streak...

On point, bad boy as in dosing opiates besides bupe or bad boy as in taking more bupe than you should.


On a personal note, i ordered a smoking blend consisting of wild dagga, blue lily of the Nile, and kratom. I've smoked a couple joints of it today and just drank some tea i made with it. I found the tea to be more effective in terms of helping withdrawal which makes sense with the kratom being more effective orally, although smoking it gave me a nice small buzz to focus probably mostly from the other 2 plants. Im definitely planning on getting kratom on in own soon when i jump down to .25mgs.
 
Commercial grade Kratom arrived today. 25g's. Put 12g in hot water for a few seconds, spooned against the cup the kratom tea bag, and removed from the water. Def. another cup or two to make from the tea bag.

Well, after drinking the solution, the pain in my muscles dissolved. I could cough again without pain.


Had the flu for over a week, and its left me with a nasty chesty cough. Now, the cough has strained all my torso muscles back and front. The kratom makes it possible to bring up large chunks of phlegm! Wicked.

Also, I did not get any nausea.

Final word: It lasted one hour exactly before the pain in my torso returned. Still feeling irie, but in mild pain again. Def. an expensive painkiller!

Oh man I know what you mean 100%. I have only broke a glass piece once, and I only broke the female piece to a bong; the rest of the bong was OK.

The first time I was smoking out of my very first bong (not the same one I already brought up), a friend broke the male piece by dropping it on the ground. He contributed 50% of the cost to a new piece, which was at least 2x more expensive and much nicer than the one he broke, so I saw it as a cheap investment into a sweet bong. %)

I don't know if you're on BMT and took a break with the methadone or use recreationally. Assuming the later...

As long as you weren't taking opiates regularly prior to this methadone run... I doubt seriously if you have a dependence. You might get a few chills, tears, and yawns... but wouldn't expect anything worse. Take some advice from someone who was on MMT for a lotta yrs. Run from that shit as fast as you can BEFORE you get a real addiction.

Even if you were on BMT prior to the methadone... you should probably be fine with the bupe after 36-48 hrs. 48 would be safe enough since you had such a short time with methadone. Awhile back I did a two day methadone splurge and was ok with bupe about 30 hrs later. Just start out with 1mg or less to see how it feels. Good luck.

I was originally on maintenance for addiction from a psychiatrist, was later switched to it for pain by my primary doctor. Psych needed drug screening, primary didn't.

I tried to explain that several times. Reason and sense are two things not in my parents' vocabulary. Pain patient or not, they don't care.

I see my doctor in a couple of hours, will post back once I see what he decides is best.

i can relate lol...... i had purchased a bong and my friend threw a lighter at me and broke my new bong.....first day!!! he paid full for the bong.....and i pitched even more, and ended up with a balling new bong.......

my 1mg streak is going well, still feeling great......i might get "clean" so i can go leave a UA......
 
thanks for the replies on the Vyvanse/Bupe combination guys. my psychiatrist made me get an EKG first before she would prescribe an amphetamine. just have to wait for the results now, hopefully i should be good to go by early next week.
 
I just wanted to comment on the people who have to take drug tests for bupe. I have a doctor who does not drug test nor does he require counseling. I just see him once a month walk in pay my X cash get my scrip walk out takes maybe 15 minutes tops. So they are out there you just have to do a little investigating. He didnt even do a drug test for my first appointment and he allowed me to do my induction at home. I will say he is totally in it for the income though.
