Bupe Suboxone/Buprenorphine FAQ and Megathread v.1; 2007 - 2010

Today was my first day back to reality.

A one-day planned "relapse" turned into a 400-quid, 3-day smack bender.

Thankfully, I managed to get back on the sub with little trouble. I'm sure if I stayed on the smack for another day, it would have been a different story.

Apart from a little sweating, the sub and alcohol seems to have it coverered.

don'tcha just LOVE drug addiction?

(CAN MY DR GET IN TROUBLE FOR PRESCRIBING SUBOXONE FOR ANXIETY WHEN I DIDN"T NEED IT.) I was off it for 4 months and when I took my first 8mg dose I actually ended up barfing just like in the old days when I had no tolerance, that was amazing. So please read below this is the end of this. I just wanted to be on klonopin and smoke pot if I needed to. Now I haven't smoked long enough to pee clean which I dont do.

Hey guys my Dr. put me back on this 2 months ago. When I took it orginally to get off opiates for a year straight. I cold turkied it and the withdrawl was terrible. Legs kicking, couldn't sleep for 2 weeks, couldn't do anything. Then the mild withdrawls continued and I had to go poop 3 times every morning, even after all that time.

So last month I did what he said, everytime you want to take a klonopin take a suboxone. He gave me another prescription and I didn't want it becuase I'm not taking this unless i'm withdrawling from a opiate. So I filled it and have been chipping, taking half, somtimes a whole to try and taper getting it in my system.

I cant withdrawl off this again, when I have a bigger problem with klonopin. I think this time I'm going to taper to a extremely small amount. Like smaller then 2mg's, litterly i'm hoping to take slightly less then 1mg every other day and then stop.

I already know that i'm going to feel the wrath of this again. Then my anxiety medicine wont work, that's basically what I think is a quack. He also didn't give me another prescription for it saying "it didn't work for you". Now he acts like he knows nothing about drugs and to see somone else. He also got in my face last time, and this guy isn't somone who can really do that. So can anyone maybe tell what's going on here. It seems like he just want's to piss me off so I find another Dr., I used to love opiates but haven't had a real opiate in so long that i'm not like everyone else who just takes the suboxone and doesn't ask a question.

Clonazepam won't work because it's a shitty benzo (for one), you probably have built up a tolerance to it (two), and no, I don't think your doctor can get in trouble for prescribing a drug you willingly took yourself. You're not mandated to do what the doctor tells you to.

ive been on subs for 1 year now and i started with 32 mg now im down to 4 mgs for the last 2 months and i find it hard to drop to 2 mg i can do it for a day or two but the anxiety is horruble are there anybody out there with same problem found a way past this i wanna get off this hellava drug. please

I have tapered down to 1mg a day recently. It's actually kind of easy to taper off of buprenorphine from what I've found.

After a day or two on the new dose, I find I have stabilized and I feel great.

Maybe what you should do is start dosing multiple times a day, but at a much lower dose. IE instead of 4mg once a day, or 2mg once a day, try 0.5mg 3x or 4x a day. I find this much, much more efficient.

At the moment, I take 0.3mg 3x a day.

You have to WD at some time, so if you still find anxiety, maybe you should talk with a doctor about anxiety relief. Did you feel this anxiety before you were using? Overall, quitting using opiates will still not be the easiest thing in the world, so you have to expect a little dysphoria.

have been trying to kick suboxone and I am down to on average 1-1.5mg My fiancee has quit sub twice tapering, me once cold turkey. Any ideasor links would be cool, also when tapering is it ok to say take a dose 4 times your regular daily dose to feel opiated say once a month to make it more worth it when I do it. I know I will have to wait if I can taper all the way but I M workin on cigs now so one thing ata time i guess. my guy also has an amphetamine based psychadelic that lasts a hell of a longtime, would this be a good substitute or would it take my mind off needing the bupe at least? PM me or respond on the board. I will probably get info faster if it is pmed.

PAWS is a bitch htough, dealing with a slight cold for two weeks ain't too bad. The months after you are off is the real time to hit up AA (i think NA gets you too many hookiups. Sometimes I get PAWS mixed up with life having been on the drug for a long time.

#1 Benzo addiction/withdrawl sucks, clonazopam is a good long term benzo. PM me if valium is worth a shot.

#2 Yeah huge tolerance so he prescribed me 8mg's on accident then put me back on 4mg's. So I basically took 6 or somthing. Then he just puts me on 2.

#3 He can, I just want off suboxone. After what I went through you dont put somone on suboxone when there taking a anxiety medication. That's like reversing the whole reason I came in there. To get off opiates. So I quit opiates, that was the end!!! However the guy is now saying he doesn't know anything about benzos. Yet when I first told him the suboxone gave me anxiety he said he gives out klonopin(Yes I asked for xanax I wanted to take benzos short term) But the problem now is that I quit suboxone back in december. Now It's july almost and I have ALOT to worry about. It's wasted time, it's messed up.

So it gave me anxiety, then he uses it for anxiety, i'm sick. Suboxone did help when I needed it.

If he took the time to talk to me at all about a plan then I wouldn't be in this situation.

I'm really thinking of that AA thing. I dont want NA. Thanks for the advice man, I appreciate it.

Hey Captain H -

sorry, I wasn't referring to your post... Actually I was more than a little drunk and responding to something in another thread...

thanks for the info you guys - i see there are others with similar questions / hesitations to mine

the guy that mentioned post acute withdrawals being worse than the 2 week cold symptoms was dead on - also, confusing PAWS with the harsh reality of just being opiate free... so true

i would consider clonazepam the best benzo for withdrawals (or to potentiate opiates, with a drink, etc... stuff rocks IMO!)

Pink Cloud - sorry man, I can't respond to your PM since i'm still greenlight status

hydrochon - dude your doctor was seriously fkn negligent - i'd let him know that you're aware of this & that he needs to be a little more 'agreeable' - i'd say you have a strong case considering him putting you on opiates for anxiety & admitting to not knowing shit about benzos....

how'd this guy get his bupe. certification in the 1st place?

You should talk to a lawyer about your doctor's negligence if you think he truly did mess up and give you incorrect medications you didn't need at all.

For long acting benzodiazepines, my favorite is flurazepam. Diazepam is the best for tapering off of benzos from what most people say.

Hey Captain H -

sorry, I wasn't referring to your post... Actually I was more than a little drunk and responding to something in another thread...

It's OK. It's understandable and it happens.

oh hey - captain H

thanks for your post re: bupe doses and the norbuprenorphine with higher/lower doses...
at this point I think I need to stop taking it for like 3 days, get truly sick, then take 1mg / the least amount possible until it seems to offer whatever relief it can...

it really is a remarkable drug... my friend in florida keeps hitting me up to mail him an 8 every month or so... he says he gets truly loaded off of 2mg (the 1st day) then not too much after that... he's been on methadone / had many heavy habits over the years...

on a separate note, i took about 1mg yesterday morning then at 12pm banged about 1/2 a gram of tar, then another 1/4 at about 3pm.... it's 3:40am and i'm just now feeling like i'm ready to sleep... pretty damned long time to still be feeling good...

you guys are right about the AA / NA thing serving a good purpose when the post acute stuff is happening - since i've been on bupe meetings don't do shit for me - only seemed to help when i've been feeling truly helpless years ago... i guess i'm due to give a meeting another go - though not sure if i'm hurting enough just yet!

ps - captain H -

i'd forgotten what flurazepam was - it's been a long while since i had any Dalmane - but i remember it being wonderful for the post acute stuff - it's considered a sleeper, right? darn i wish i could get my hands on some - seems like they only prescribe it to old timers that have been taking it for decades though...

Flurazepam is a hypnotic benzodiazepine, it is the benzo with the longest half life (except for flutrinazepam aka Rohypnol). IMO flurazepam is my favorite benzo, and everyone I've met who's tried it, it is typically their favorite as well.

I get the best nights of sleep on it, and wake up still high.

eh im on 8mgs of subuxone to get me off a heavy codeine and DXM addiction. works perfectly, havent used since i been on the stuff.
Once im off subuxone and my tolerance goes away will i be able to use it occasionally, say on weekends, to get high as an alternative to anything else? Or by taking it now to get off the other shit have i ruined my chances of ever being able to use it recreationally? what u recon =D
