Do you drink coffee or anything with caffeine? If you do, does it help at all? If not, have you considered it?
And in fact, I just noticed that I was actually a little nauseas after taking my morning dose about a half hour ago. It seemed familiar too, so maybe it does happen everyday and Ive just gotten used to it. Or, its so minor I dont even notice.

I just felt content and had enough energy to get things done. I'm prescribed 2mg 3 times daily. I guess the "buzz" kind of wore out a couple days ago. I think I just might try to take just 2mg a day for a while. I'm a little apprehensive about going against my doctor's orders but I think 2mg/day would be sufficient.
how long does suboxone stay in your system? I've heard that suboxone kind of works like an anitdepressant in the long wrong and I'm intrigued by this. Even after taking it for about a month will it still help with lethargy like it has this past week or will I become totally tolerant to it? will it help with aching in the long wrong also? For some reason (I think it may have something to do with the suboxone) I have seemed a little bit more secluded from people I have been very close to in the past. I seem to only want to be around my family.
Carl Landrover said:Wow, you still find it stimulating? *Is jealous* Do you ever wake up before you have to get up, take your dose, then fall back to sleep? I used to love doing that, except I'd tend to roll over and drool out a bit and then I'd be fearful I lost some sub, so I'd try to suck it back up.![]()
I sleep really well on it, just that I sleep too well and too long.

No, I've actually never had a cup of coffee. I drink iced tea, which might have small amounts of caffeine? Other than that, no caffeine, although I have an occassional red bull, but very infrequently. I've been thinking about taking some excedrine at night if I really do want to stay up, but haven't tried it yet.
That's funny about you and others faintly noticing nausea. I've always had a weaker stomach so I probably am just more aware of it/effected more by it. As long as I have weed, I guess it's alright, though I'm trying to cut back on that.
BTW, thanks for all the replies guys!![]()
Doubtful, in a physical sense. Codeine is a weak opiate. It only becomes active when it is converted to morphine in the liver. You are on a low dose of suboxone, so either you have tapered down low, or you have always had a lower tolerance. This may affect your progress in the sense that it seems like your trying to get off of opiates. Are you in like chronic or acute pain, or is the pain due to WDs?frederixxxashes said:the last time i dosed was wednesday, around 10 am. I took less than .5 mg of sub. i'm wondering if the codeine will impede my progress of withdrawling. In other words, will my first day of withdrawling, all the pain ive endured, etc., be for nothing because i took an opiate and had to start from scratch again? if that makes sense.

If its acute or chronic, the codeine may help for that. It differs from person to person. Me personally, codeine doesnt convert to morphine (I proved this too!) and its rendered useless. It may help you, and may help with withdrawl. Its not at all close to the potency of buprenorphine, so dont expect to be withdrawl free.
I understand, and your welcomefrederixxxashes said:the pain is due to WDing off of the suboxone. 5 Weeks ago, I started on 6mg of suboxone (after an oxycontin addiction of 2 years) so i tapered down to 1mg, then on the last day i took .5mg. the pain is pretty bad and i cannot get comfortable or sleep so i was just hoping the codeine would help a little bit with the WD's without impeding my progress. i am no longer mentally addicted to opiates, just dependent on the suboxone because it prevents me from withdrawaling.
OH AND BTW. thanks alot for the prompt response and great advice.
i greatly appreciate it.

Sounds like you should tell your doctor this. And it sounds like to me that your not ready to taper down to .5mg, because your getting these symptoms. Try to get an increase if you can.
As far as the codeine, it MAY help a little bit. Take them. I cant give u a definite answer, because how codeine works. If you have taken it before and it worked, then YES, it will help with withdrawals. For some people, codeine is uselss, like me. Take them and let us know. Dont exceed 400mg of it, because thats the ceiling dose. If you go above, its wasteful.
sixpartseven said:Sorry buddy, but thats terrible advice.
Taking codeine when you are already down to .5mg of suboxone and ready to jump off will only set you back. Stick with your plan. No one ever said suboxone withdrawal is painless. You will feel some withdrawals. However, they should be mild. If you are finding them to be extreme, then you arent ready to get off. My advice then would be to slow down your taper and stick with the suboxone for a little bit longer.
No matter what, at this point in your process, do not start taking other full agonist opiates, whether its codeine or hydromorphone, it will set you back.
