Hey everyone you might be interested in some of this info from Ultraworld:
________________________________________
With Starscape only 3 days away, and people from all over the country
fixating upon this weekend, here is some additional information regarding
the event:
Tickets & Directions:
There are still about 1400 tickets left for the event, which are dispersed
between Ticketmaster and the local outlets. They are selling at about 600
a day, so they should be gone by Saturday. In the event your local outlet
sells out, that does not mean the event has sold out. There could be
tickets at other outlets, or you can use Ticketmaster to purchase tickets
up to and including Saturday the day of the event up until about 3 p.m.
If there are tickets left, chances are Ticketmaster will have the last
tickets, as we can keep the most accurate count through them. The Ticket
Outlets section of the Starscape pages on our website will give you
accurate up to the date information on the ticket situation.
Against our initial plan, we have put directions to the park on our
website. This was due to the large # of people that were receiving
tickets without directions, or who were doing will call tickets through
Ticketmaster. You do not need to email us for directions, just go to our
website. If the event sells out in advance, there will NOT be tickets
available at the gate, so please do not drive to the site hoping you will
find tickets. The access road to the site is miles long, and we will be
stopping cars in advance to check for tickets. All security personnel
(including the police), are working on the plans to make sure that there
is not a crowd of nonticket holders in the area, including issuing
citations for loitering, so we can't tell you enough how serious we are
about keeping the event to our set capacity. Again, our website will give
you all of the relevant ticket information.
Counterfeit Tickets:
There are antiduplication measures on our tickets that would be next to
impossible to reproduce. It is possible that someone will try, as they
did last year. We will have a strict "no sympathy" policy for anyone
coming to the gate with a fake ticket. This means that no matter how much
you paid for it, you will not get into the event if you have a counterfeit
ticket. You should only be purchasing a ticket from a ticket outlet,
simple as that. We will also offer a reward on tips leading to the arrest
of anyone counterfeiting our tickets... start with free admission to
Ultraworld for life... (now don't set it up to get yourself caught, that
wouldn't be fair)
Trash:
At the risk of sounding like we're dwelling on the negative, we'll say
upfront that it is your responsibility as well as ours to keep this city
park clean. We will have trash cans around the event for you to use,and
of course we have a clean up crew to deal with the trash removal. But even
more importantly is how you handle trash in the parking area. If you are
the kind of person who could really throw trash out of your car without a
care, than quite frankly, we wish you would not attend our events. Enough
said, that behaviour is completely not cool. If you return to your car to
find a book's worth of fliers on it, we're sorry, but they are now YOUR
responsibility. Just deal with it... put them in your car and dispose of
them properly. We are not hypocrits, none of our crew has so much as let
a gum wrapper fall on the ground without picking it up, so we would like
our crowd to be equally conscious of the environment.
Bugs:
Due to the amount of rain we've had in the past month, the park area will
probably have an annoying amount of flying insects at night. You may want
to consider bringing some type of bug repellant.
Weather:
Come on now, were you really worried about rain? It would not be
Starscape if we couldn't see the stars ;-) But rain aside, it may be
chilly on the water, so please bring appropriate clothing for the
temperatures.
Overhype:
One thing that is a concern of ours is overhype for this event. Yes, the
venue is beautiful, we'll set it up nicely, and yes, we got voted one of
the best parties in the US last year. But, it is, in the end, just one
event, made for fun. World hunger will not be eradicated, the Israelis
will not suddenly make peace with the Palestinians, your rent will still
be due at the beginning of the month. So please, we ask that you approach
this weekend realizing that, and don't come in to the event expecting more
than a simple party could ever really deliver. We think if you do that,
than you will be bound to have a much better time at Starscape than if you
psych yourself up for the impossible.
So now that all of that mundane stuff is out of the way... take a deep
breath and get ready, the weekend is almost here!
