I think all players and sluts are negative. I got played last month and it sucked. I played women and regret it. I just think its a smaller demographic of female players and male sluts. though I've known my fair share.

Smaller demographic or not, it does not imply that they don't exist or that the word should be sex specific. There are a lot less female physicists and infantry soldiers than male ones, but the word physicist or infanteer does not have a absolute/hard sex specific meaning.

Why would there be a smaller demographic of female players and male sluts? Honestly, IME (this is just from the people I know, I'm not trying to make a huge generalisation about both sexes) women are actually more selective about who they sleep with than guys are, so...kind of the opposite really.

And yet it's women that are sluts.

Maybe a smaller demographic of female players? Like I dunno, in general population type settings, I notice girls mack less than guys. In my usual circles, that is not true and girls mack as much as, or more, than guys.

Yeah...maybe it just depends on your social circle/environment and stuff really. Like what I'm noticing as a first year undergrad in university, is that the guys here seem much more intend on getting laid than the girls - I mean like when we go out, the guys will go with the intention of getting laid whereas the girl will be more like 'yeah, maybe, if I find someone hot'. I attribute that to the expectations of what uni freshers are supposed to do, especially for men. It really just depends I think.
Regardless, I've never heard of a girl being described as a player or a guy as a slut here, although I've heard the opposite many times

Sooo I didn't talk to a whole lot of chicks at the art show but at the very end of the night, the most beautiful blonde chick I saw all night was looking at my art. I was like "you wanna buy some?" Yo I just seen this post - most people dont even know what SLUT means - it's SOMEONE (gender neutral) who is promiscuous, ie has casual sex, often with many partners but not necessarily.

I guess maybe its a regional thing? here we differentiate a female or male as a slut or player. if either gender is defined as a player and it gets around its hard to find someone to date (I got labeled a player). slut generally is used towards women though, youre right, and guys are just called desperate lol. but we do have and recognize female players in my area.

Really? I'm happy to hear that, cuz I'd really never heard of a woman described as a player. Nor of a man described as a slut for that matter.

That sucks - in our patriarchal society it is MOST COMMONLY used for women, but it is actually gender neutral, around these parts it is common to be called a man whore or a slut if you are a man.

By definition there is nothing wrong with being called a slut, or being one.

It's how the word is used ignorantly by misogynists which have given us a bad name.

Yeah, I'm not ashamed of my having been a slut in my pre Ms.G days. I don't feel like I did anything wrong in general. (Altho, I do feel guilty about some particular hook-ups, because they where ethically dubious, but those one's would more likely fall under the heading of being a player anyways). Actually, I might still be a slut, in as far as Ms.G and myself have/will hook up with a 3rd for casual fun, together. Still no shame in it.

'Slut' is not a neutral term. It's by definition negative. And when people refer to someone as a slut, they mean it negatively.
I've got no problem with people knowing I sleep with random guys relatively often, I would have a problem with being called a slut.

^ the thing is (not going to read up on the whole discussion)... if a girl seduces sporadically a guy in a bar, and she truly has to put a lot of effort in it, there seems to be no reason to call her a slut, IMO...

in reality, however, a girl doesn't have to do any effort at all... 99% of the guys would have sex with 99% of the women if "the milk is for free" .... this undermines the "praise-worthyness" of the female-part, because she doesn't have to do any effort at all; all she has to do is put up a "green flag" in the air and the guy would have sex with here right-there if he could... So, a girl can step into any random bar every week, start talking to a random guy and put up the "green flag," this is all it takes... Ergo, for this reason there is probably some bias towards the female who sleeps arround...

from a guy's POV the whole thing is different; women are very picky which men they want (even for a one-night thing); the guy has to make a considerable amount of effort to end up in bed with her... so, yeah... in the end, if a guy ends up in bed every week with a new person that illustrates that he somehow has the skills to seduce beautiful women... Ergo, the man who seduces a lot of beautiful women is somehow to be praised...

^I get what you mean, but I do think you're exaggerating slightly. I hit on guys all the time. If I see a hot guy in a bar/club, I'm not gonna try to subtly get his attention and wait for him to make the move, I'll do it myself.
But I do understand your point and it does make sense I guess.

Edit: just got a date for for some awesome coke sex with this guy. We're gonna realise my fantasy of having someone snort lines off me and vice versa. Totally psyched.
