Six in hospital after taking "2-CB"

No, it's not silly. It's deliberate.

The newspapers have a seething hatred of drug users that is quite easy to mistake for simple ignorance, if you aren't already used to being on the end of seething hatred for something else yourself.

As far as they are concerned, drug users are subhuman; and accuracy in reporting, especially one that might engender a spot of public sympathy, is a luxury that would be wasted on us.
 
Don't think there's even a question about 2C-B being about as safe as a drug could possibly be cos it definitely is. Only question really is what it is they actually bought cos it clearly wasn't 2C-B. Secondary question would be why the BBC reporter that claims 2C-B is either a "performance-enhancing" condom or a pheremone spray still has a job.

Shulgin said that if an aphrodisiac was to be modelled on any chemical, it would be 2C-B, as he found it highly sexual. Maybe that's where they got that.

I don't find 2C-B any more sexual than being sober. It's a giggle to have a fumble, and end up laughing in each other's faces. Not a pro-sex drug, in my opinion.

aMT haters - this hate is not good. aMT is active sub-5mg, and is a proper decent anti-depressant. Large doses won't always agree with people, but it gives me less side-effects than MDMA.

When taking 2C-B, does anyone else get the extreme mucous/lung issues that I get? I read on here that it was very common. You feel like you need to cough up any shit in your lungs. That sounds potentially medicinal, but can make tripping a bit annoying.

Nonsense! It may not be "more illegal" to sell a mislabelled than a correctly labelled illegal drug, but sentences are expected to be far more severe if eg. somebody dies due to overdosing with 'your' mislabelled crap. There IS a clear incentive to label a product correctly, even if it is forbidden in your place, and that is avoidance of unnecessary attention by law enforcement and media. I don't get it why this isn't obvious to any dealer.
Anyway. These six people are not more casualties of prohibition than of their own stupidity. Why didn't they let one of them try first? (Still a stupid idea IMO, but at least "only" one in hospital and not six) Why didn't they try a small portion of the whole dose first? Obviously, they were in a private environment and not a public party. Considering how much fake stuff is sold these days, both on the streets and through the internet, I thought it was good drug-taking practice (let's call it "GDTP") to test new material. Call me overcautious in this respect if you will ...

I'd be much interested in more definite information about this incident, in case this should show up, in particular the true nature of the used material.

Surely this is a prime example of why "these six people are casualties of prohibition"

If it was regulated and supplied through official channels this would not of happened. So not really nonsense after all.
 
I wouldn't call it "stupidty" on their part as such, more just lack of education and information. Anyone with half a brain should realise you don't buy Class A drugs off some shady site on tinterwebz (not when they're illegal worldwide anyway) cos it's a blatant rip-off 99.9% of the time and you're either setting yourself up for a controlled delivery or just being ripped off. It's pretty rare to be sold summat that's actually harmful. But yeah, this is why sites like this bang on about starting off with an allergy-test dose before diving in for a noseful. HR 101 stuff really.

PS: And obviously prohibition is the underlying cause of all such incidents when it comes down to it. But whilst such a dangerous policy is in place it rather behooves punters to take sensible precautions and educate themselves.

It's not nonsense, we're not talking about people who's only goal is to minimise risk, they're already taking risks by being involved in drugs. People are subject to forces of different degrees, and by creating a black market prohibition is a force operating against the open flow of information about drugs.

Anyway. These six people are not more casualties of prohibition than of their own stupidity.

Depends where you get it from. Obviously there is bulk available from abroad which is available to a lucky few but it is no stretch of the imagination to think these boys might have used a widely known marketplace site.

Yo're right there is an incentive to sell good products. I doubt that whoever sold this ever expected it to result in deaths, but if there is a supercheap analogue which people can bulk out and mislabel, they probably will. None of these drugs are particularly expensive to make, it is largely an effect of prohibition that 2C-B is 300 times more expensive.

Regulate it, make a single dose of each one pretty similar cost and you're away. The pharmacist gets a flat salary and the lab gets dicthed and fined if they try anything funny.

Indeed. But that's kinda what I meant by it being a bit shady buying stuff like that from places like that. Obviously you can get lucky - and there's incentive to not actually physically harm the punters - but you've gotta realise there's hardly likely to be much in the way of quality control and customer service from sites like that. Or maybe there is? Dunno. Only ever skimmed it meself.
 
Apparently it's pretty easy to sort the wheat from the chaff, but I admit I've never used the most popular one. With sites like SoS around it seems there is a very low probability of getting burned if one knows what they're doing.

I certainly don't think it's any worse than buying on the street, if only because it usually goes Lab>Vendor>customer rather then passing through many hands. Not sure if this holds the same for street 2C-B though - I like to think those moving it on the street are more motivated by ideals than profit, but this incident might well prove me wrong there!
