Yeah mate, around then. They are different to the mushrooms down here in Vic, as i said they grow from cowshit, not from woodchips ;).

I've never personally hunted up north but after some decent spring rain in October sounds good to me.
 
The rain is falling and the temp is perfect... expect a bumper crop in the next few days.
 
I doubt the flushes of June/July will be around, even after the rain and temps. The season seems to have tapered off quicker than usual.

Bumper crops from high rainfall and freezing temps...

Not taking them till next season but it' good to have a supply of dry ones over summer...

Melb seems to be fucked now, the other week my patches up there were dwindling in size and by now i doubt there'd be much left.

Loving it down in my corner though!
 
Just went for a quick gander near hobart
freezing cold and still raining but my patch continues its reasonably disappointing year
still got enough for a little razzle though so cant complain
 
Damn so what are the prospects for the northern melb suburbs looking? We've been having decent rain all week. I was thinking of having a look.
 
If you had considered a look 2 months ago, you may have been in luck. Unless you know of some really solid patches, i'd kiss this season good bye. For Melbourne anyway.

Got a few mates going up ferntree/mt well this weekend... wonder if it'll be any good for em.
 
Mmmm, I doubt it will be too grand, its just been to way to cold up near the mountain, when its snowing in South Hobart its probably not going to be crankin for mushies
 
^it's been cold with a bit of rain of late though...i wouldn't be surprisd if there was still some around. i can't make up my mind whether it's worth taking a 6 hour bus/train trip to find out...
 
not much luck today, went up mt wellington about 2pm... found 3 good shrooms like 2m up the track but the rest of the track was bare, people had already been through.

probably hit up mt field next rain
