Ridiculous Fads

Notch another one up for the rollerskating fad.

I also owned a Strawberry flavoured (what else? ;) ) BIG M hula hoop - Oh so trendy in their day.

Jelly sandals... yes, like Mary Poppins I wore those stinky stink-fest plastic things until my feet slipped out because of the sweat. Then I wiped 'em off and put them back on again :D

Ra-ra skirts. Bubblegummer jeans. Stripey Legwarmers. T-shirts with words on them - like "SHUT UP" and "I'm not listening" (my angry phase). Smiley badges *cringe* - and not in the raver sense. Mixed tapes - "Hits On '89" et al. Speaking like Kylie Mole from The Comedy Company. Stickers... on everything.

Yeah, I was a bit fad-crazy in the 80's & 90's 8( . Proudly, though, I never owned a Cabbage Patch Kid.

^ haha I have the Smash Hits tapes from 89-95. =D

And Kylie Mole! I'd totally forgotten about her until I saw an ad for Comedy Company DVDs on TV the other day. Ahhh my hero.

I thought of a few more.

Friendship bracelets (anyone remember these?). Writing on your arms. Painting your nails with White Ink then colouring in with texta. Zinc cream in fluro colours. Hair crimping. Sprial perms. Big fringes *cringe, cringe and double cringe*

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (that one's for my little brother).

hahaha and friendship pins :D

Oh I had Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on video before the movie came out here, one of our family friends in the states kept sending me stuff about them saying they were the latest craze over there.

Even had cereal that had marshmallows in it

yuck hahaha

TAZO's OMFG were Tazo's the shit. They were the biggest fad besides 'brain yo-yo's'. Damn chip sales would have been massive. I had so many of those little pieces of plastic... What a waste of money.

Judging by his outlandish attire, i'd say he's some sort of free thinking anarchist ;)

Lucky Charms? Man they were fuckin awesome! I only had them on my 1993 trip to Malaysia, wish we had American cereal here. It's one of the greatest things to ever come out of that country.

Man I could go for some candy cereal right now. Cocoa Flakes, Lucky Charms, all them. For some reason Coco Pops and Fruit Loops don't cut it.

SLM: I write on my arms all the time. That's how I remember really important things I wouldn't remember otherwise.

Killing_time: I cover my walls with posters. I'm 19. Whatchu talking 'bout? (What else am I supposed to do with all those rave flyers)

Let's not forget those folding scooters! I swear they originated in someone's garage. Good for him but bad for everyone else. Those things are dangerous to both riders and pedestrians. I'm surprised they weren't recalled or something.

Ridicuilous Fad: Talking to Mary Poppins. Soooooo over rated :p;)=D

making posts to get the attention of people you are talking to on msn...

i mean...really....

spare me 8) 8(

seeking approval is tres overrated! ;)

I loved some of the more ridiculous fads, truly madly deeply.

*The Big M hoola hoops - My sisters got them for Christmas presents before I was born I think?? Regardless of that I used to play with them when I was little. The dog was able to jump through them, and yes they still smelt like Strawberry and banana for quite a long time. I wonder what on earth my Mum did with them??

*Tamagotchi's - I'm not ashamed to say that I owned one! Everyone at my school had one, and for me they went hand in hand with my geeky side.

*Footy cards - My sister and I used to go to the milk bar almost every single day to get packets of these cards. Mum would give us a ton of money just so that we could get them. I think that secretly she liked looking at the footy players.

*TMNT anything - Once I made my Mum drive me around to at least half of the K-mart stores in Melbourne, just so that I could find a pair of Michelangelo socks, spoilt brat syndrome! I had lots of TMNT stuff.

*Sneakers with flashing lights - Never owned a pair of these, but always wanted some. Even still to this day I get really excited if I see some kid with those shoes. What's even better are shoes with flashing lights and noise makers. Annoying yes, but infinitely cool!

*Don't worry be happy t-shirts - I hated them! Hated those tops with a passion!! Same goes with those stupid smiley face badges. They always remind me of that Collette song "ring my bell", how ghey!!

raphael cried in the ninja turtles movie you loser!!!!

Leonardo rocked!!!! He was the leader!!!!

He's a real man [or turtle] ;)
