were these a fad? or a timeless candy sensation?

Surely these were the superior product and fad?

I personally think one of the stupidest phases was Grip Ball. Let it die already!

Fags were the original, but they were forced to change the name I was under the impression....

I dont know why? whats wrong with calling lollies fags?

I remember pretending to smoke them at the local public swimming pool, very classy indeed...

I'm surprised they are even allowed to sell things like that

I'm torn.

For every post I've read in this thread which has made me want to close it, there's been something vaguely resembling conversation to make me wanna keep it open.

*sigh*

Let me add my thoughts and we'll see where this goes....in no particular order:

Cheese was never a fad, but there is now a thread where you can discuss it to your heart's content. It's here.

Pink shirts are indeed teh ghey. I have been a practicing homosexual for 10 or 11 years now (one day I'll get it right), and though I may wear a Britney badge as a ring, while I may wear bright blue fishnet gloves, while I may enjoy the dulcet tones of Kylie and Madonna on occasion, even I am not gay enough to own a pink shirt.

Back to fads: whatever the fuck happened to spokey dokeys???? Or does that just make me look old....? 8)

looks like i should be moving to florida ;) you could also get those plastic discs to put over the wheels. it was all about wind resistance, nothing superficial ;)

I had a hyper colour shirt, collected Lion King cards in luie (?sp .. help me out preacha) of basketball cards.

What about collectable ugly dolls .. or trolls as they were affectionally called. Pudgy tanned funny looking mini dolls. Looking back now ... they had large pupils.

I've still got my old BMX and the wheels are covered in Spokey Dokies....

that and the fact I used to put a footy card behind my back wheel and when I rode fast it sounded like a "motorbike"

;)

Po-Go Sticks.

I was reminded of this awesome fad at the Newtown festival when my drunken boyfriend bought one at a garage sale nearby. Watching him injure himself on multiple occasions reminded me why this fad died out.

Rollerblades ... now theres a fad. Everyone who was anyone had a pair. hahaha skating nights at the local rec.

Ohhh dear.

I was about to argue that Rollerblades weren't a fad, purely because I was an Aggressive Inline Skater for, god, 7 years.
At the same time I wonder why I was never in the cool-group at school.
I think there may be a corellation of sorts.
=D
FAD: People COVERING their walls with posters.
Not sure if this was, and still is, purely a phase during adolensence but 'back in my day' everyone did this... and I don't really see it happening that often any more (Although I can't recall the last time I was in an early adolescents room [few, that should avoid any rumours ;)]).
:)
PEACE

The fads i remember liking when i was a kid was footy cards, marbles and yo yo's. Do barbies count? I had heaps of those but all i liked doing with them is changing their hair and clothes and taking them on dates.

umm which is what i do now :\

I've turned into my barbie doll. Not A barbie but my barbie , oh dear 8o

Oh shit.........well I guess that answers all those questions i have had for years and years.

Yes, I openly admit to owning and often wearing...........

A PINK SHIRT.

Spose that means I have just come out of the closet.

God damn it, I just might where it to BL drinks on the weekend now to stir u all up.

I had pink and white rollarskates.

I used to rock out to Blondie on the rink.

Hahaha I used to rollerskate too, I was quite good on a half pipe and wall ramps.
When I came up from Bundaberg to Brisbane I was amazed on how crappy the rules were on the skating rink. 3 mins to speed skate, no ramps, just sucked completly.

My skates rocked though, had Labeda Turbo wheels with aluminium hubs, clip on axels, moonraker boots and some strange itallian plates. The bearings were Labeda as well, they cost me $180 :| (saved up for such a long time to get them) Went like a shower of shit though :D

I ended up just road skating as the rink was run by nazis.
