does anyone of you know cosmosis`s maxi "gift of the gods" from transient records? 1996 or 97, a masterpiece of 303-drenched psy...
It's a pretty good track. Many a morning I've stomped along to the train station listening to that.

Should be many a morning stomping at a South African outdoor. ;)

Honestly, I urge you guys to some day party down here. There's nothing better. Vortex 4 day NYE party is coming up... ;) (Azax Syndrome and Domestic headlining.)

Hehe, that does shock me. :P

Are there any hassles when it comes to organizing outdoors in the UK, like is it mainly an indoor vibe for most parties or are outdoors regular?

Think someone told me something about legislation or something prohibiting large gatherings after certain times or something like that....Myths I guess :P

various arcane bits of legislation exist... not all of them are enforced or valid. it depends where you are & what you're doing. there are shitloads of outdoor parties in the UK, but the weather and the size of the place mean that there are lots of squats and warehouse parties as well during the winter months.

what i was loosely getting at is that people here have been to an incredible number of parties in incredible locations... outdoor festivals in the (absolutely stunning) Azores, the Mount Fuji festival, bush doofs in the most gorgeous Australian forests, parties in palaces outside London, private gigs on tiny Greek islands, desert parties in California, underground clubs in New York, Hungarian psy extravanganzas, beaches in Goa, clubs in Tel Aviv, festivals in the French Alps... :)

there's a whole world of experience out there.... all i can say is that i want to try it all meself :D

Lotsa Aussie parties are basically illegal, no-one ever gets the right permits or anything. Good concept- drugfucked hippies tripping in the middle of nowehere, and noone really knows they are actually there :\

There was one Aussie at a party a while back that shocked me and a friend with tales of parties getting shut down (which was actually only secondary to the shock we got when he told us the fortune he had to pay for the same type of weed we get for the price of a six-pack.)

^yeah, but your chances of being shot for no reason on the way home are considerably less ;)

i remember being amazed when friends told me that Astral Projection are played on the most major commercial radio stations in israel...

+1! i have been to 1 outdoor party up in Pennsylvania and it was the best party i have ever been to. the vibe, the people, the decor, the atmosphere...fantastic. i have yet to experience a desert party here in CA but once the warmer months come along, i'll be stomping it out in the sand %)

Still probably one of his best three or so tunes.

With the last shocking offering, looks like he won't ever better it, either. It's not "average", it's one of the worst psytrance records I've ever heard. And yes, I've heard Skazi and recent IM.

I can get down with the really dark stuff at the right point in the night, I just seem to end up at so many parties where the sun comes up and what I call the the 4am music is still going strong.

Really? You're in the UK right - which parties? If anything, I hear the opposite happening far too often.

havent heard his last tunes but nobody says smth. good about it...
im`s last one "the supervisor" is 90% shit, yep

Just saw Space Tribe this weekend, a bit disappointed. :( Hopefully Mr. Peculiar next year will be better. :)

A music video for local live act Smugg Juggler (live percussion, bass, synth and guitars.)

If you like the mechanical sound check out MMD records. You'll love their releases.

Willow, thanks for checking it out. :) About half way through. How does the mix sound? Listened to it on a car system and the bass was totally overwhelming everything else. Sounds fine on hi-fi speakers and the best on the monitors I mixed them on. Should I turn the bass down or will that type of problem get sorted out during the mastering process?

don't assume you can fix anything @ the mastering stage... there is only so much that can be done with a stereo wav file. it's much much better to fix problems in the mix... in fact, sometimes it's impossible to undo problems which are embedded in the sonic range of the track. just concentrate on getting everything sounding as good as you can & don't apply any dynamics effects on the master track - the mastering engineer will have better plugins, better hardware, better ears and better experience :)

Good advice...How does it sound to you so far? I'm getting a pair of monitors in a few weeks, either the Alesis MK-II or Behringer Truths...Which would you say is a better choice?

sounds cool man :) i think the bass is a bit woofy, it could lose some flab around the lower-mids - then it would cut through the mix better, i think.

re: monitors... so hard. depends on your room, your preferences. if possible spend some time auditioning both pairs & see what you prefer - take along some CDs you know and love.
