Opioids Opiates dont seem addictive to me- addictive potential exaggerated?

Addictive potential not exaggerated. Did not seem addictive to me years ago when I first started. Chipped for a while. Now just getting over serious heroin addiction and popping Suboxone.

I never had a problem with any other opiate then heroin and I have done a lot of them as opiates are my drug of choice. Heroin is just so amazing that it just draws you in and you don't realize that it is a problem until it's too late.

while i dont wish anything bad on the OP or anything i just feel even though he feels he has it under control now it is likely at some point in the future he will feel out of control and as most people i talk to state, it seems to be right when someone starts thinking, i use responsibly, i got it under control, it isnt gonna hapen to me is usually when addiction starts settin in, and soon enough it has gotten you. to the OP: be careful.

When I starter on opiates I think the same as you.... but believe me, the adictive potential is real.... if you continue to increase doses and taking every day, soon or later you will fell the strong withdrawall's

how does he take 120mg of Oxycodone with little to no tolerance? Is he referring to time release Oxycontin?

Opiates are seriously addictive. They've done damage in my life as well as a TON of other people i know personally and grew up with. Even one of my friends who said "they aren't addictive to me, I can do them and not want anymore", he ended up doing a lot more than I ever thought he would and ended up in trouble because of it. Nothing more to say about that.

"...have pointed out I could be naive and in a couple of years come crawling back to this community begging for help with my chronic addiction (much to the great satisfaction of certain members I suspect)."

Just a fyi, no one will take pleasure knowing you have ruined your life, we're here to try and keep people from making the same stupid decisions some of us already have. Most addicts on the needle are very against others trying it for that very reason. We just hope we can get through to you that by the time you see just how addictive opiates are you are usually too far down the path to turn back

lol, my parents think i'm fucked up when i act normal. when i act weird they think i'm normal, it's so retarded.

i was sick last week, not dope sick or anything, just sick. they immediately thought i was in withdrawal even though the symptoms weren't even consistent with opiate withdrawal.

Different drugs for different personalities. I love opiates, they're my favorite type of drugs. Some of my older friends are really into coke....they LOVE coke. Some people love speed/meth. Uppers just don't do it for me. For a few years I did opiates and all sorts of other popular and not so popular substances. It took me several years of occasionally using opiates to pick up a habit. But maybe opiates just aren't your thing.

I've been able to do all sorts drugs and never have a problem. but opiates got me. Everyone is different.

I think he needs to get real, every addiction starts with a user who's "in complete control" and has a schedule, or at least most start that way.

Certainly a lot of people start out that way but not all of them.

I've met people who would instantly down pills left and right when they get a bottle of them, no control, no schedule, just intake of drugs compulsively until they're gone.

opiates are super addictive in my opinion... I started out with oxy's and the second i first used it, i loved it.. that feeling of being wrapped in a nice warm blanket as i faded in and out of conciousness and being subjected to some sort of beautiful dreamscape had me addicted instantly.

Heroin was an inevitability after i fell in love with oxy's.. Since then i haven't looked back as i still chase the dragon to this day.

Ok... You've been using off an on for a year. That's exactly how I started, and 90% of my pillhead friends as well.

That's the allure man. For about 2 years it just wasn't a problem. I'd use maybe once a week tops.
Then knowing no one could tell I'd start doing it more and more. Saving some for work the next day. Buying some to use while watching football with friends. Sooner or later you hit a dose that gives ya a nice nod, or you start snorting em.

For me I felt not fucked up but just cool with whatever. If I had a lot of work to do I'd bring some oxy. Something happen and you can't drink or be paranoid from weed get some oxy. You start buying more to save money. You start doing more cause you have em. A couple months go by and you start noticing that work sucks without it. In fact you feel like shit without em. Maybe you make it through wd a couple times easily. Then they get worse and worse and soon you don't want it, you need it to function. From then on out the best feeling you'll have is the subtlety of the warm blanket feeling removing your wd symptoms, taking the tightness away, fixing your stomach, and most of all letting you sleep.

I can't judge you. I was you. I didn't see it either. I wasn't like everyone else and now years later and on suboxone just to feel normal I'm telling you, you even more so than those that crave it right away are fucked. At least they know what they are dealing. After all you've been doing it for a whole year and you're not hooked... And? Bottom line you keep at it, you will become an addict. No one wakes up and says "hey you know what I'm gonna IV some H today" its a progression and IME the opiate progression is so slow it just blends into your life. Good luck bro, I mean it.

so this is the last post i read, i can't make it through this whole thread! i just want to say, DITTO. this is exactly what i thought when i read the OP's post.

i used FOR 2 YEARS without thinking, or probably having, a real problem. yeah, sometimes i would have MILD wds, but i was able to push through it and abstain from use for a week or so. it really did sneak up on me. there was one week that we (me and my bf) just used too many days in a row, which was perhaps "irresponsible," but i thought i knew what i was doing, i had gotten a little sick before, i could handle it. i was wrong. it was just a tailspin at that point. the WD was bad, so we copped a little methadone to detox. that turned into a crutch we would use after a few days use. i mean i am in school, i needed to focus, right? the days got closer and closer together until i was using opiates everyday. but make no mistake, it seems MANY OF US were chippers once. it sounds like maybe you don't have a steady supply either. that is what really drove the nail into my coffin.

btw, i agree with those that think 120 is a little unbelievable. if you are telling the truth, you may be further down the rabbit hole than you can fathom.

Many people react to opiates very differently.

If i took 120mg crushed and swallowed like you said, i would be throwing up within the next 30 mins.
