I hate when the gymnasts fall because they can get hurt so badly. The men's gymnastics was fun last night. After America lost their two golden boys no one thought the Americans would even medal but they came away with the bronze!!! Better than nothing considering they weren't expected to even come close.
The men don't seem to fall as much as the girls and i think there is a few reasons for that. One, the girls are a LOT younger than the men. The girls are usually around 16, the men in their early 20's and sometimes older. Now at 16 your brain isn't fully developed yet, and scientist say even some hand and eye coordination isn't even fully developed at 16. I think that has something to do with that. I always thought that female gymnasts should be a little older for the Olympics but the coaches want those young girls because their so durable, flexible.
Also another reason they may fall more than the men is because a 16 year old girl isn't as confident as a 24 year old man (in most cases-- their is always exceptions to that!). And also a 16 year old is a lot more self-conscious than a 24 year old man and i think that affects their over all performance. But, i could be way off on that. This is just my opinion on it. I was 12 when i was training at an Olympic academy and that's the age they want a girl at to start training for the Olympics. It was damn hard work. Obviously, i didn't make it. Like i said before-- to many injuries. But, i often wonder "What if"... What if i hadn't been injured and my heart would have been more into it. But, no sense in doing the "What ifs"
The woman's gymnastics is going to be super tense tonight. China is going to give America a run for it's money. I think it's going to be a barn-burner, people will be on the edge of their seats on this one, i know i will. I just hope no one gets hurt, that's always my biggest fear. I'd never want to see any of the Olympians hurts.
Good luck girls!!!!
