I’ve been spinning for 5 years, and up until just last year I’ve always used the cross fader for everything I spun. Now I just use the volume faders. I spin a lot of different genres… from Techno to Trance to House to Breaks and everything in between. Most of what I spin is dark and tribal. Good luck ravergirley on whatever style(s) you choose to spin. Come say hi at D2. :)

ravergirley.... the advice given has been good... but remember that it takes a WHILE to learn to play out well... and that takes practice and most importantly confidence. Ask anyone (not just females) to help you with learning and I am sure that they will if they have time. What style you play has a lot to do with it too... D&B, Prog, House are all really done differently. If you watch Lady4square and Serendipity, they will use the crossfader, while I know that Molly and I do not at all. Most house DJs I know do use it.... so there are other things to think about too... just get some decks or find some to use and try it out.
Holler at me when you get there...

Hey kids,

The Joker is definantly going to try and make a showup, I've already got two others to hop in the car with me, so now it's all up to my work depending on if I'm gonna have to work that night or not.

If you kids remember me AWSOME come up and say whats up, if not....come say whats up anyway I can't find my orange visor so I'll be wearing my Jester Top Hat.

Orange color theme (I hope)

My dude Flipp(not the dj) will not be able to make it, he's down in the cinnci at college.

But will be definantly try my hardest to make it.

Keep The Smiles Up,
Joker

At many levels I feel you, but...

My contract, the standard Sister SF contract, stipulates that no negative or tastelessly over sexualized images of women appear on any promotional materials. It says that because that's a common problem that we as females in the industry fight from external sources and within the community of women performers. I don't have a problem with this flyer.

It is my personal opinion that, while the flyer has an attractive female on it, the image, when taken in the context of over-sexualized images of women in rave/electronic culture print media, the lady on the flyer is small potatoes. We could debate that point. But that's not what's going on here.

Having said that:
My talent sells me and you can take that to the bank. I'm not thin. I'm not spectacularly pretty. I'm not a model. So whatever this promoter is buying and reselling by putting me on the bill ain't the miss america pageant.

And most people who come to this show know full well what they are purchasing at the door and they aren't coming to look at my medium to small 27 year old titties, which will be covered in a hood sweatshirt and the cord coming off my headphones. If they had wanted a dog and pony show I wouldn't be there and Portial Surreal would.
