What 80's thread could exist without mention of this huge talent! He ummm she errr THIS tune deserves a full page but I shall resist temptation...
... the album that I Ran (Marmz) is from is also good but a little more raw, simplified. It's a great album with great tracks, I just think, especially witht the added B sides, Story of a Young Heart is more rounded. The two albums together, & along with the awsome single Wishing (I had a blah blah blah) they pretty much complete the Flock that's worth listening to. The third LP wasn't worth the Charity shop quid I spent on it & I have no idea what the guys solo material is like.
I still find new stuff to listen to because I missed alot of the 80's for three reasons. First I was flitting back & forth between African & the UK. In Africa, you get a cross section of Euro, British & USA pop music (or did at the time) & lesser hits never made it out there. Second, by the mid 80's I'd got into Goth music & spent my time & money exploring it & thirdly, I became interested in dance music in the late 80's. So my area of interest spans the time periods that I was in the UK & into pop music, or particular strands of 80's subculture & whatever I discovered or picked up since.
hahah I lold, cheers.Aye.
Flock of Seagulls were a joke. Saw them as a support at the Moonlight in West Hampstead and they were so dire everyone went outside for a fag - and this was about 25 years before the smoking ban.
started collecting vinyl from the age of about 6 or 7 in 1980 .... VERY interested in music from an early age ... pre aged 7 I was brought up on Zep, Sabbath, ACDC, country, The Beatles a mix of stuffs ... (Smurfs! Petula Clark!)
Yeah it was. BUT I'll be the first to admit I do not even remotely possess an eclectic taste in music. It's very very very limited. I wont even pretend it's diverse. I'm pretty much stuck in the early 1990s, and have been for a while, and have lost my motivation to diversify. There's a fair few here that do seem to have an eclectic range of tastes tho.Awesome
Furniture - Brilliant Mind 1986 <--- perfect 80's track. Doesn't get much better imo]
