Mushroom Season 2013

It's not quite as dangerous as it can be in other countries, but it is still highly recommended that you head over to the Shroomery and get them to ID what you find for your own sake. You may not mistake poisonous mushrooms for the hallucinogenic ones, but bringing home a pile of inactives is quite possible.

It sounds like you've done your research though, just head to the habitats and good luck my friend :)

I don't have any mates that have been picking before, but I'm super keen to have a go this season. I understand the dangers of eating unidentified mushrooms, the risk of having some horrible organ failure or whatnot, but... is it really that difficult to tell what mushrooms are active and what are not? From what I have read the best sign is blue bruising and a purple/brown spore print. How many shrooms bruise blue, have a purple spore print and are dangerous, is it really that hard?

Watch out for the poisonous Gallerinas that look very similar to subs. Make sure you take an experienced hunter with you when you go picking. They will teach you how to do it safely.

So today I locked my keys in my car so had to walk a couple of suburbs back home to get my spare key (left myki at home..). So I decide why not look around for some mushies, found these beauts in an unexpected and unfortunately quite busy location. So the shit day turned out awesome!
Sorry no environment pics. Probably should've let them grow a bit more but didn't want to risk losing them plus first find how can I resist. Eastern burbs btw.
40g, good idea to do all in one go? Also, is re-dosing on comedown effective?

I see these type (or ones that look very similar ) around in Brisbane every now and then but it could be a different species of mushroom. I have only ever picked gold tops and blue meanies. Does the pictured species still get that bluet green bruising like the gold tops do when you break them? What are the tell tale signs that they are safe to eat and not a poisonous species? I ask this as I am movin to Melbourne in September and I guess I'm going to have to reacquaint myself with different shroom species. Any help would be great. I have looked into other species on the net but from all the info I have looked at it seems they leave out the part about the bruising/ discolouration when the mushrooms are broken.

lol, he just said he didnt have any friends that have gone hunting before....

to, Potty

just do a shit load of research on shroomery and you'l find what you're after

Went out last night for a picking session, lots of shrooms but I don't think any of them are active.

Hi - could I get a positive ID on these pls?

I think they are psilocybe subaeruginosa but the lack of blue bruising in the stem concerns me.
They were growing on wood chips.

Hope I havn't got it all ballsed up, been quite a few years since I picked

please learn what subs look like here and here

those are easily distinguished as inactives/not subs, glad you came looking for an ID before eating them.

be careful

Why are you picking at night?

I only pick at night, but if you do pick skade please take someone who has picked before and make sure you take photos and send them to shroomery.org to i.d them. As shown a few posts above their are poisonous mushies that look very similar.

Plenty of shrooms at a doof in qld last weekend. Interesting and totally unexpected find but the site is used several times a year so no doubt they were seeded or is that spored?

Abit early but we went for a look here in WA but didnt find much, anyone had any luck down south?

But we did find like 6 big fucken field mushrooms that were delicious.
