Mushroom Season 2013

^ Yup, mothers day tends to be bang on the money for Melbourne, and this year should be no difference with the rain coming this week =)

Using scissors isn't practical in reality. You learn to squeeze them off at the bottom with your fingers leaving the Mycellial network unharmed after a few seconds of hunting with an experienced Mycologist. Just remember they can also be absorbed transdermally which can lead to accidental intoxication.

There are some good tips in this thread. Keep them coming guys.

Do we also have a limit for how many Psilocybin mushrooms can be shown here like we have for other substances? Possession of Psilocin is a very harsh charge with even tougher penalties. Just ask the guys from W.A. who got busted on The Force show on TV.

Remember not to incriminate your self people. Play safe :)

this was last season im afraid, no luck this season so far in melb, i just thought id post the pics anyway

You would have to be one lucky SOB with zero tolerance to come back from a pick 'tripping balls'.

I mean, I've felt a bit 'different' a couple times after last year, one day involved a pick of nearly a shopping bag full, no gloves or protection from the shrooms. Later that day I was walking round the lounge with dried shroom dust floating throughout, but I didn't trip balls till I made my spiked chamomile tea later that night.

I think I get more athletes high from picking, it's deffinetly something that will get me to walk up a huge slope, navigating through trees and shrubs ;)

This is not what Bluelight is here for. There is no availability discussion allowed.

Welcome to Bluelight though ThCBomb. Hopefully you stick around and contribute :)

So today I locked my keys in my car so had to walk a couple of suburbs back home to get my spare key (left myki at home..). So I decide why not look around for some mushies, found these beauts in an unexpected and unfortunately quite busy location. So the shit day turned out awesome!
Sorry no environment pics. Probably should've let them grow a bit more but didn't want to risk losing them plus first find how can I resist. Eastern burbs btw.
40g, good idea to do all in one go? Also, is re-dosing on comedown effective?

Bad idea. Dosing subs fresh is really hard, especially first pick (which can often be twice as potent by weight to batches from later in the season).

Dry them out first, and as they're first pick I'd start with 1.5g and work your way up from there. Re-dosing shrooms anytime after about an hour is going to be less effective. But hey, they're free and literally grow on the ground - no harm in wasting a bit by re-dosing. Better then being overwhelmed initially IMHO

I have tried to go mushroom hunting a few years ago, and I was never successful. But now since I've moved literally adjacent to countless paddocks where cows graze I think my chances will be much higher. I don't remember the appropriate season for it, though, and all I understand is that cubensis mushrooms pop up after rain - would it be a good time to go looking for some around this time, especially since it's been raining?

Hey guys! First post on this forum!
Il tell you what, I'm bloody excited for this years season :)
I miss last years as I was away in europe and got back late July :(

Got a couple of questions.
Can anyone confirm that the season has started in Melbourne (easten suburbs) by finding plenty?
Also my spot came under excavation and got destroyed :( Should I look for a woodchip area in a suburb with alot of rain?

Thanks guys!

Seasons pretty much just started, on the previous page a couple of melbourne pickers have had some small finds. But with all the rain that is hitting this week, picking should be prime time after a few more days =)

Yep sweet man thanks!

Should be good fun going for a stroll soon :)

Can you point me in the right direction? Is heading out east better? or pretty much the same around the suburbs?

Cheers

I want to say no, and keep them all for myself (I live and hunt in Greenwith), but it's nature's resource and I can't be the judge of who gets them and who doesn't. :P

Some do grow here, like they do pretty much everywhere suburban, but not huge yields. Also the patches usually fruit a few months later than everywhere else. You'd be better off going 25 minutes north into a certain, well known pine forest tbh; that's my plan this year anyway. Suburban picking gave me a good 15 trips last year but I'm after a few more than that this year.

Hey guys, you know all this rain thats happening right now and tomorrow, how long after is the best time to go picking after a decent rainfall?

I dont want to go when everythings all mud and i dont want to miss them been all dried up?

How long does it take for a shroom to form properly?

Thanks!

CANT WAIT!

Yeah no shit. I went picking today and currently have some pretty funky open eye visuals going on, can barely see my screen properly. I'm pretty sure i didn't eat any lol

Gonna go have a looksi in SA this week or so :)

I know its still early for SA as it usually pops up around end of may beginning of June. But the weather conditions NOICE atm.

Raining, cold, overnight temps under 10c etc etc :)

Hell excited YO. mushroom season is def my fav season of the year

ohhhh niceee haha, you should be a nice person and give me some "hints" on where to look ;)

Please stop asking for locations. It is against the BLUA.

I got a couple of friends of mine bring up some shroomies from Melbourne for me. I took a spore print for my records and dispersed the rest. I'm hoping they sporulate and spread through the area I placed them for the future seasons :D
