Mushroom Season 2013

Hey guys, I'm totally new to picking and just have a quick question, it's been raining non stop for the past few days, any of you guys know if it's too early for the Canberra season to start?

It's too early for subs here now. The temps haven't dropped yet. The annual camping trip is still 2 months away.

Kdashh - I spent two seasons hunting in Canberra and never found anything!! Spent a LOT of time and energy too, and went to some pretty remote places. I cant give locations online but hint - head to where there is more rainfall! The Berra is just to dry for mushrooms.

There are lots of mushrooms that grow here in Canberra. We get arguably the strongest variety in the world here.

There is plenty of rain here year round as well. We are a catchment area.

As with anything in Canberra you need to know the right people here and then you will get shown the good spots.

The strongest??? Really? The only psychedelic shrooms that grow in Aus are Subs, Cubensis (QLD?) and Cyanensis (and fly agaric if you count those) as far as i am aware. Not sure where Cyanensis grow though. Tell me if I am wrong.

I was in Canberra for about 1.5 years and perhaps i was unlucky but it seriously hardly rained at all in that time, and all the spots, all over and around Canberra, where i hunted were dry and dusty - not good for any kind of fungus. But on advice I drove to a town about 1.5 hrs from Canberra though and hit the jackpot!! It was towards the coast in a much more fertile environment. And it was Subs that were growing, in pine needles, and for whatever reason they also happened to be REALLY big, twice the size of anything i've picked in Victoria.

Also my understanding is that the Cubensis are only up north, QLD and are not native to Australia. They are a dung loving species from memory.

We Victorians are lucky i guess, the things just EXPLODE for that one month or so, you just can't go anywhere and not see them!!

I don't even really like taking mushrooms, i just love looking for them and the thrill of finding them.

For Psilocybin content by weight. The aborts are even stronger by weight.

There are heaps more that grow here. You haven't even started talking about cupboards yet. Pan Cyanensis grow in Cubensis conditions. Cubes grow in cow poo around the 21-25 degree celsius mark ideally so any temps around there you will get them north and south.

You must have been here during the drought. What you said would be true. We have mostly forgotten about that now as we have had heaps of rain for years now.

Did some gardening today and found these, I did not touch or pick any. Here are some pictures though

i wouldnt put them anywhere near my mouth!

I would never do such thing. I'm thinking of ordering the 'Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World' book By Paul Stamets I think it would be a good read. Also hopefully I can tag along with a Canberra member during season to get some hands on experience and knowledge from somebody that knows there species.

I live in Berra and get mushrooms every weekend of the season, every year :) I usually just pick for personal too, and I know others who don't. They're out there.

Mushroom season? I just buy my spores off the net. Its not illegal to order spores through the mail. Haven't done it in a while but you get mushroom season 365.25 days of the year. Plus you can order any strain you want.

Its kind of fun growing mushrooms too, they become like your children.

^^ you pay for your shrooms? To be honest I like that money doesent need to be involved with this drug.

Holy shit you's get them early up there. I guess we can't really call them the 'winter' shroom anymore.

We usually get the musculara's before the subs here, and I haven't seen any yet.

Is this the norm for you guys tripnotyzm?

Defiently here.
Thats awesome aussie, should upload some photos but understandable if you dont want to

i'll order you a knuckle sandwich

suspicious about what?

I actually can't remember if i took photos or not. i was growing them in my Uni dorm lol. But it is the experience of growing them that is the best part - well not quite, the trips the best part, but you know what i mean. These tiny little baby mushy heads form on the cakes, then they grow out of the same area and then before you know it - bam! Its picking time. My grow box was a masterpiece too i was so proud of my engineering
