I found a few after the rain but not many. Found a bunch of little ones so we decided to come back for them when they were bigger but by the time we got back they hadn't gotten any bigger and were drying out, there simply wasn't enough moisture to make them grow. Ah well, wait for the rains

/twiddles thumbs

Been to the shroomery, it says in WA one can find Psilocybe subaeruginosa, but I cant find a lot of info on the net about them. Also apparently Psilocybe cubensis can't be foudn in WA, I was under the belief they could, but proven wrong I guess. Anyone able to advise on this further? I have searched around but can't find detailed info on them (spore prints etc).

Subs grow in a certain forest in WA, won't mention the name here due to mod-nazi's but they did make a documentary (seen it on the lifestyle channel once, of all places!) about them. Maybe that will give you some search tips...

get a book.
if a spore print is dark its ok.
if it stains blue
problem with WA is there are not enough shrooms to go round so beard of crazy locals and scare crows made of steal and junk.
look into what they grow in...

ive been spotting huge numbers of inactives around, but yet to spot a single sub.

Keeping the eyes pealed though, as i intend to cap a whole host and try to check enough until the next season rolls around. I wonder if if they would keep powdered in caps if they are kept in a dark place, relatively cool.

I have got a friend that has had success with sorting them for over 6 months in the freezer.

Better research that before i lose everything im yet to find :)

Dry them cracker dry, powder them and store them in a jar with some desiccant. Which is then stored in a cool dark place.

They will last for years. Nothing beats a fresh one though :)

I have seen and eaten cubensis from north east w.a after heavy rains. The patch was most likely started by a friend who moved there from qld in the 90's but i can't be certain of this as he did not purposely innoculate the area but could have unwittingly by spores on his hiking boots etc.

In southern w.a forests subaeruginosa are quite common after june but the locals watch thier patches like hawks and some hick communities are taking a stand against hunters invading thier towns for 6 weeks a year.

My advice is to find someone EXPERIANCED with shrooms in your area so your not eating the wrong shrooms or pissing off too many locals walking through thier land.

Be very carefull and research all you can but all in all having good guide can't be stressed enough!

Happy shroomin'

Theyre illegal in England :( You used to be able to buy them in markets and shops a couple of years ago

This weather is madness!!! It hasn't stopped raining since 11pm in south west vic and this thunderstorm is making me have second thoughts about going to pick any time soon.

Deffinately going to find a trophy amount from this rain though :)

Crazy storm blowing over from s.a! Constant lightning, rain and even some hail...

Hope it comes your way Melbournians because i've never lost the satelite connection due to heavy rain for more than a minute and we've had no signal for nearly an hour!

kICK ASS!

Ok, anyone who cant find shrooms in Melbourne who has half a clue what they look like is either blind or an absolute idiot. These were found within 5 mins of looking. I found two new patches that i'd never seen before in the space of an hour. I suggest everyone gets out there and starts lookin :) Some of the pics are quite blurry, it isn't easy takin photos next to a main road....

Also took some footage as well, thought it would give ya all a better idea of the habitat they grow in. It is'nt the best, i had to make it quick because as i said, it was right near a busy road.

EDIT: nice shrooms melburn_madness, they look good. Didn't see your find before i posted mine. Good to see someone else is finding some.
