They're some nice patches in melb... Good work with the video Immortal!

I dehydrated mine last night and started the methanol psilocybin extraction process today. Anyone who hasn't looked into this process should for it removes all the material that gives you the horrible mushy gut feeling. The only problem now is having such a pure clean trip makes me want to do them even more hahaha

Happy tripping everyone!

The season is getting into full swing now. I will post some photo's later today, I'm confident that the larger patches out there are well developed by now.

I have already bumped into patches of a few hundred, some have even started decomposing, which would suggest they first flush began at least a week or two ago.

How long have people been finding them in Melbourne?

Ok, anyone who cant find shrooms in Melbourne who has half a clue what they look like is either blind or an absolute idiot. These were found within 5 mins of looking. I found two new patches that i'd never seen before in the space of an hour. I suggest everyone gets out there and starts lookin Some of the pics are quite blurry, it isn't easy takin photos next to a main road....

Well i ve been on 3 trips all up, and only found 1 little one. Found some two today that were already blue all over will try post pics. I just cant seem to find any and i walked halfway around the ranges today :(

This one we found look like a sub but didnt have that distinct white stem and didnt bruise blue.

These 2 were completely blue all over, the stem was alot bluer than what the picture shows.

Cand ID that for you, otherwise the mod nazi's will close this thread down, not active though.

Anyway, why are you looking in the ranges? Ive said this many times, they grow everywhere. You dont have to make treks out to forests and the bush to find them. I pick them in parks, roundabouts, school gardens, footy ovals, anywhere with a man made mulched garden.

First Hunt

OK, as promised I have some photo's for everyone. I love this time of year, mainly because I have a reason to get outside and appreciate nature for a few hours each weekend.

The photos are from just one patch, some of the larger patches are not yet flushing. I suspect this is due to the location and rainfall or environment around them:

There was allot of mushrooms left, but this is a good thing and I find makes picking sustainable.

Any Questions? :D

umm yeah but i cant ask ;)

I searched a few parks, i think my problem is that were i have looked it seems to be more clay/mud underneath. i think i need to go further east were there is more soil on the ground.

Ah well one more day before iam back to work, the hunt is on.

I found some pins and one little mushroom growing down at my patch. It's just a matter of time before they all start sprouting up.

Once more.

So I'm going to assume this thread is the start of Mushroom season 2007.

Lets set some rules from the start.

No asking for ID's.

No asking for spots to search or places to hunt.

If this thread gets long like the last few have, make sure you completely read it and search the old ones so we don't have to keep repeating the same information over and over.

Lets try and keep it all together in one thread.

...and remember this is not social.

Welcome to mushroom season 07 =D

This is NOT the place to ask for mushroom ID's.

This is not the place to ask where or how to find mushrooms. There is much better sources of this information.

If you don't know what your doing this is not a good way to learn.

If this is ignored this thread will be closed and we will not allow any discussion on the topic.

It can't be stressed enough that if you don't know what your doing and you eat the wrong mushroom it can be fatal.

gee, it seems like EVERYONE is in VIC, noone looking in NSW?

Been keeping my eye out in Sydney, come across a few patches of Stopharia Aurantiaca but no Subs. Don't really expect to find anything anyway as a few years of keeping my eyes open have yielded nothing and reports of people finding Subs within Sydney are pretty sparse. I wish I had a car so I could drive out into the Blue Mountains. Oh well. Every year I see all these photos of finds within Melbourne, they do make me quite jealous but then I realise as great as having all those Subs at my doorstep would be it doesn't even begin to compensate for living in Melbourne. :p

I'd rather live in the rock capital of Australia with millions of shrooms throughout winter then live in the gay capital of Australia with bugger all!

Anyone finding any in northern vic?

damnit i've found about 8 different species and not one fucking active!!

what does this mean?
8 different types of mushy but none that are "magic"
ive found nearly 15 different types and i think i ony found one that i would be safe to confirm that is of "magical" properties =D
ive spent so long trying to find out what type they are but no luck yet

Read up on P. Subaeruginosa. Thats what your looking for. Dont ask for info here otherwise this thread will get closed. I learnt everything i know over at the shroomery (www.shroomery.org). Its worth checking out. You can also get your finds ID'd there so you should check it out if you want to learn more about subs and what they look like..

It means he has found 8 different species but none that are psychologicly active (active=some aminita and most psliocybe species of mushrooms)...

I am from victoria so i will explain southern australian shrooms and maybe someone from up north will be better off filling you in with thier species and details. I do know alot about mycology in other parts of Aus but i try to stick to what i know best...

Most shroomers in southern Australia are after Psilocybe Subaeruginosa (pictured in some above photos) a.k.a Gold Tops but some (usually more experianced psychedelic users) will take aminita muscaria which has affects closer to delerium rather than psychedelic (not recommended!). Psilocybe Subaeruginosa likes cold wet conditions and is usually the last of all the mushroom species to fruit hence why alot of people report finding many species this time of year but no actives as they are not in full season at the start of winter.

There is plenty of good literature on psychoactive fungi readily available in books and on the internet but i can't stress enough the importance of knowledge gained from experianced users.

The wrong mushrooms can and WILL kill you! They can grow side by side and look very similar to inexperianced users. I urge you to learn all you can about these wonderful free mind tools and exercise caution whenever in doubt.

I think i speak for everyone when i say its stupid just looking for these, identifying them yourself and then consuming them without confirmation from someone in the know.

Hope this helps

Awesome post. I found about 15 species of mushroom in the Dandenongs on a hike last weekend; not a single active among them. Judging by the amount of mushrooms that had been pulled out or kicked over, I'd say I wasn't the only one keeping an eye out. I hope nobody was silly enough to eat the ones they found; there were some quite convincing lookalikes to be found.

Thanx mate, i know what you mean by tracks with every mushroom turned over!

They are ruining it for the rest of us....

Its ok to do it deep in the bush if your a beginner but on common tracks that all sorts of people walk along from day to day is akin to spraypainting or hanging signs up about what your doing...

Total no brainer!

We can only hope they use sites such as this and mend thier ways!

Rainforest areas in the dandenongs and similar type habitats have lyre birds which are often the ones uprooting all the shrooms while scratching around looking for bugs and shit. I allways wondered how the hell all these mushies in remote places ended up like this untill I witnessed it myself.
