Or it could be what we do, boil up some mushies, as Psilocybin/Psilocin is water soluble and then keep the liquid, discarding the mushrooms.

If you know where to look and what to look for then theres no reason to be buying them ... but many people know neither of those. All things considered its probably better that the uneducated buy it from a knowledgeable source rather than trying to find it themselves and possibly getting the wrong ones.

Agreed, but this "knowledgeable source" 9/10 will completely rip the buyer off, paying rediculous prices for something that grows out of the ground. If your buying off a mate and its cheap then go for it but most people ive seen have charged stupid amounts so thats why im all for just going out and finding your own patch.

in melb... ***dirt cheap shrooms for fully developed XD forgive the pun (and the price)

or walk twenty minutes and pick them yourselves. :p

[EDIT: No prices. hoptis]

Rogan, We have had heaps and heaps of success down in hobart for the last few months, each rain is yeilding at least 400 or so for the group of us that go up to our spot, and thats leaving any ones that arent deemd big enough or just not pretty.

Its raining like a bitch outside and has been for a couple of days now so if you go for a wander after it stops you should be sorted!

Is there a species difference with the fat and generally shorter blue ones and the tall slim ones(yeah blue also but not like the other)?

Yeah this is what we do aswell. If you make it concentrated enough all you need is a few shots to be a complete wright off. Ive found you get a much more intense trip but doesnt last as long. You can also freeze your brew for later use though Im not sure how long it keeps for.

Here is from a recent hunt in North-Western Tasmania

^^^ Nice haul fellas. Most look a bit small but it has to be done somtimes. Ive always thought the youngens are more potent anyways so have fun with em.

Those pics are looking similar to our hobart spots, open paddocks onto a bush area been pulling massive hauls between the four of us.
Going up tommrow for a look might post some piccies.

Ah don't tell me that. I've been searching all week in a number of places for up to 4 hours at a time with no luck! the good thing is I am going down to Hobart soon, perhaps I will have more luck around Hobart than I have around Launceston.

yeah, the bottom picture of the lonesome dry shroom was picked up the mountain in hobart. The top few were up near Devonport.

And FUCK OATH the smaller shrooms are more potent! 4 of those babies has you absolutely gone.

any of these shrooms grow in the sydney area?

yes but not plentifully, so you're very unlikely to find any. find somewhere where the climate is a bit colder.

and yes the small ones are much more potent by weight. they seem to slow/stop producing chems after a certain growth point.

The small pin or bullet caps have been proven to be more potent than larger mature mushrooms.

Psilocin is damaged by UV and infra red light so the longer they are out in the elements the less potent they become.

A larger shroom will generally have more psilocin overall because of the larger mass but the older the plant material the more likely you are to get side effects (stomach upsets etc.) as the other alkaloids are in higher concentration and you have to eat more to get high.

Pins are awesome for boil ups and old shrooms are best used for psilocin extraction...

If your planning to make a tea from the shrooms it is actually best to simmer for 2-5mins and not fully boil the mushies because psilocin starts to break down above 60 degrees C...

As immortal wrote above, psilocin is a water soluable drug so the simmered shrooms are practicly worthless and contain little or no psilocin after simmering.

Best season in 3 years in the south west if vic!

We've had 83mm of rain in 6 days : )

400 over how big of an area?

I found huge patches all over tassie in winter 2005, you should be doing better than that with all the rain this winter. There would have to be alot more in your area that your missing...

Good to hear your leaving a few of the ugly ones in the ground but you should really leave about a third of whats there to maintain a strong patch for many years to come.

Happy hunting
