Mushie Hunting Season 2003

after reading this thread for the past few days i dreamt about mushie hunting last night... was pretty strange as dreams go, and although i had never seen pictures of the blue staining on the gills, the pictures above look exactly like what i saw in my dream... strange...

guess i just need some mushies :)

CB :)

I have dreamt about mushrooms virtually every night for the last four years, I have NEVER had something penetrate my psyche and dreams as deeply as they have (except for this one girl, but even she hasn't been in my dreams as consistently as those damned mushrooms!)

love those photos!

just when the rain abated a little i went for a mushy hunt in a park near my house. the park has heaps of mulch beds and in one i found like 100-200 of these non-active mushrooms and some other freaky things.

the main one is a red/orange colour and quite slimy on the top, the gills are white with a brown tinge and the stem is red/orange. i poked and prodded a few to see if they went blue even though i knew they wouldn't :( would have been good if they were subs though :(

while i was climbing around the garden this old hippy lady with red hair walked passed and saw what i was doing and checked one of the mushrooms herself then wandered off. hehe obviously not active.

there were these other wierd mushrooms that looked like a clear jelly blubber with white around the bottom and pink tentacles coming out of a circle in the top. i came back a day later and a white stem had formed out of the middle of the clear part and the tentacles were on the top of the stem. they also formed brown good on the base of the tentacles. i think they're called a starfish mushroom and the brown goo attracts flys so they can spread or something. wierd wierd.

i was walking my dog around where i live in the syd inner-west near the cbd and stumbled on a huge mulched area with pine trees all around. i found about 7 different species of mushrooms, none of them looked active though.

this is straying from the topic of psilocybin mushrooms but these are what i found:

- red cap the size of a ladybeetle, too small to see the stem

- more of the red/orange capped ones i described above

- more of the starfish mushrooms

- a bright yellow domed cap about the size of a 10c piece and a bright yellow stem

- clusters of these tiny little ones. they had white conical caps with a slight grey tinge, white tall stems for their size and the biggest ones in the cluster of about 50-60 were the size of a pea (the cap that is).

- beige slightly domed cap with a little knob on the top, beige/off-white stem and the gills were beige to brown in the middle (no blue bruising unfortunately but i am doing a spore print which looks like its turning out to be black. i was hoping this one was active :( )

- a white domed mushroom with small peeling flakes coming off it, cap only and about the size of a tennis ball.

- something i have trouble describing but it looked like a cross between an alien and a lobster claw with tiny little spiky fingers. about 15-20cm in length and 10cm thick with a pinky red coloured skin (shudder)

sorry, i went on a bit there. im just completely facinated by all these mushrooms im finding on this one mulch bed in a suburban park! i'll post some pics that i took of them if you people want? :)

Yeah pic us up, best to let people know what they AREN'T looking for, andplus, these sound rather cool looking.

I'm getting a bit of an interest in biology now =D

Well my gf and i had a quick little hunt 2day (both first timers) and we found some weiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiird shit, hehe.

Nothing bruised blue though :( but try and try again.

YAY for the mushie season, Yay for unexpectedly finding beautiful mushings after wandering off at a doof. YAY for 'finding' them at 4am without a torch, yay for freaky good luck!!! Boo hoo that they must be donated to friends who will only use 'natural' drugs :(

I found some mushrooms a while back that were a weird yellow colour and had a brown/rusty coulord top and stained blue instanty......the part where the spores usually are was solid like sponge and after a while the blue staining went black.......i kept a few and they have dried and are now black and smell quite yuk......does anyone know what i might have some across.....its a pretty veuge(sp?) description.

KaNaBuS - what you found is a bolete. Some bolete's bruise blue instantly, most have foam instead of gills (i found a blue bruising one with gills). Many of these are poisonous! dont eat it!

btw, if you're in sydney, you prolly wont have much luck ... think about taking a few hours drive to somewhere higher (colder temperatures)... you might be pleasantly surprised (as i was today ;))

Just a question...
is it ok not to freeze your mushroom tea and just leave it in your room??

Thanks to all my trippers, love you all!!!

Hello all,

I have become very curious about mushrooms. I understand there are risks involved in picking and eating them, and I am still not certain wether or not I want to do it (I know I want to experience the trip, but don't know if I should take the risk of killing my liver). I have done a fair bit of research into what to look for but I know you can never do to much. I have a few questions:
Is it OK to smoke pot while on mushrooms and if so how does it alter the experience?
