Movies and Drugs[MEGA MERGED]

Trainspotting, I have seen alot of movies and if you like opiates or are interested in them I suggest you watch this movie first.

"Heroin makes you constipated. The heroin from my last hit was fadding away and the suppositores have yet to melt. I'm no longer constipated!"
I liked Trainspotting because a good part of it was a look at the "lighter" side of heroin addiction. It was funner to watch as apposed to a move like Requiem for a Dream. Like you said, anyone who likes opiates will like this movie.

Hmmm, it seems as though everyone has forgotten cheech and chong. I loved groove, how high, trainspotting, half-baked, and traffic too. I know Kids isn't specifically a drug movie, but I agree that it's a good flick as well.

Adam and Paul is pretty good, its an irish movie about two heroin junkies going about their day,its a bit of a dark comedy, pretty funny

Southwest 9 - this is my all time favourite movie,i dont know why its not known,i suggest you download this movie if you havent seen it,its about two scammers from Essex setting up a rave in an old brixton church,6 diffrent stories all come together in the end when this lad fucked off his face on acid walks off with all the drugs.

Trainspotting - what can I say its an amazing film, brilliantly done

blow is madd good, fear and loathing is a given- requiem for a dream is mad good, but i find it pretty depressing- i love spun and dazed and confused is a pretty good stoner flick

The thing I didn't like about Requeim for a Dream is that it reminded me too much of an anti-drug commercial. It seemed too unrealistic to have everything happen the way it did. Lots of bad shit happened in Trainspotting too but it seemed more believable.

"Human Traffic" was also a cool and accurate representation of the club/drug culture :)

And i know im gonna cop a bit of flack for saying this, but: Scarface is shite :p

Half baked: a fucking hilarious look at stoner life ;)

For everyone that keeps saying "Fear and loathing...", have you read the book? Yes the movie is awesome, but the book will blow you away.

Scarface is awesome...

Human Traffic is shit. Accurate? I think not - cliched, corny and tacky look at the club scene. Maybe its just me, but every time I've seen it, I spend most of the time laughing at how pathetic the characters are, and how trite the whole picture it paints is...

Can't believe no one said 'Drugstore Cowboy'

I looooove that movie!

I like most of the movies that have mentioned. Another one that hasn't been mentioned yet that is pretty good is Altered States.

I've only seen Friday, Blow, and Dazed and Confused but I really want to see Fear and Loathing and Party Monster. How about the mind trip neo got when he ate the pill? It was like when Alice accidentally ingested mushrooms or flowers or something and went to wonderland.

chandler: I think your missing the point of the film...the plot and characters arent the best, but the little snippits throughout the film are what makes it cool.

The number of times ive seen "Spliff politics" in a club or someone getting sketchy over something trivial and thought of human traffic are countless.

altered states was weird, interesting though.

requiem seemed more realistic to me, yeah everything sorta happens at once, but all the seperate events are believable. whats the problem?

besides whats been mentioned, i love the movie Jesus Son of course the book is awesome too

I think traffic was a superb film, however the message was constantly being pounded at the audience; it's okay to have a message, but let the audience think about it a bit.

Other than that I have only seen Blow, which I enjoyed. A good watch. :)

Peace

favorite stoner movies

hi there,

i was having a discussion with a mate about our favourite movies, and as it happens we both have quite a few 'stoner' movies in our list of all-time favs.. basically movies where people get up to antics after having a few cones...

..my favourites are half baked (absolute classic!!) and harold+kumar go to white castle. half baked takes the cake by a mile, that's such a great movie.

what are your favourites?

hey kemicalburn, you can have this one (i'm pretty sure we've got a thread like this in film & tv already). if you don't want it, send it to f&tv anyway, and i'll merge it.

moooooving.
