i like watching mean girls. but i like watching that at any time...

:)

Come on! the dialogue in it is hilarious - especially him - his manner of speaking, his awkwardness, lack of tact etc.. makes it priceless!

Has to be "Meet The Feebles", Peter Jacksons second film. Its a classic, pretty much the muppets on drugs.

I lose interest in stoner movies very quickly because of the usual poor, two - bit actors who star in them can't make me laugh or evoke any kind of emotion in me besides boredom.

Question about drug movies

I've been pondering this for a while....

I'll take the movie "Harold and Kumar," for example. When they are smoking up, they seem to act that out so well (IMO). Of course while I was watching this movie, I was also high so it may have just been me...

SO, this brings my really stupid question: Do the producers find actors who have done the particular drug, or do they have them ingest the drug before hand to get an idea? Or do they just tell the actor to act like they are high? Even in the movie "Groove," or "Traffic," ANY drug movie, the actors seem to do a pretty good job. I seriously don't think that I could act like I was rollin, or high....etc Perhaps that is why i am NOT an actor....?

I know this is probably a "duh" answer, but I just want to know some outsider input..

I could totally act like im "high"...but then again, I don't get retarded and not able to function.
Rolling on the other hand...just shut your eyes half-way,wiggle your eyes a little, splash some water on your face...and make the jaw go nuts. :P

And I highly doubt the producers allow them to do drugs, I mean, whose going to remember all their lines when they're high on MDMA?

Since I act myself, I've often wodered the same thing. I recently watched American Beauty and was wondering is any of the actors smoked prior to filming, studied their actions, and then used the experience in order to get into character. I know that's what I would do. I've also often wondered if cocaine or meth would enhance my acting. Hell, look at SNL in the 70's... the majority of them were on blow. I mean, we all know that drugs enhance music and art (drawing, painting, sculpting, etc.) but what about acting?

Usually, actors are required to study the habits of the drug users they are emulating.

They may also have previous experience with the drug, but other than physical movements and spoken word, makeup has a lot to do with it. A convincing makeup artist can make anyone look like they've ingested a certain drug - look at Cookie from "Spun".... yikes.

I remember that the actors on requiem for a dream were asked to stop taking sugar and caffeine for a month to give an idea of what a craving is.

But the scene at the supermarket was done with real junkies :)

Yeah that's totally it. Part of the contract for the actors in Trainspotting was that they had to inject heroin on no fewer than three separate occasions, although the studio paid for the heroin. Johnny Swan? He actually was a dealer in real life who they got to shoot everyone up. They weren't going to do the hospital scene until he fucked it up and they decided to make the most of it.
