Movies and Drugs[MEGA MERGED]

I don't smoke the reefer anymore, but when i did, i enjoyed:

*Videodrome... one wacked out movie. Directed by David Cronenburg (director of such films as Existenz, Dead Ringers, Crash, Scanners, The Fly and Friday the 13th). It stars James Woods and Deborah Harry (Blondie). I can't even begin to explain this movie, so i'll cut and paste the plot outline from IMDB:

Lowlife cable TV operator Max Renn discovers a "snuff TV" broadcast called Videodrome. But Videodrome is more than a TV show - it's an experiment that uses regular TV transmissions to permanently alter the viewer's perceptions by giving them brain damage. Max is caught in the middle of the forces that created Videodrome and the forces that want to control it, his body itself turning into the ultimate weapon to fight them.

I watched it for the first time when i was a very stoned 18 year old, and it freaked me out. Not in a scary way, more that there are heaps of "WTF???" moments. It's very trashy, very 80's, and in my book, very cool.

* Jacob's Ladder. Stars Tim Robbins, Elizabeth Pena and Danny Aiello. Here is the plot summary:

New York postal worker Jacob Singer is trying to keep his frayed life from unraveling. His days are increasingly being invaded by flashbacks to his first marriage, his now-dead son, and his tour of duty in Vietnam. Though his new wife tries to help Jacob keep his grip on sanity, the line between reality and delusion is steadily growing more and more uncertain.

Absolute craziness. Very well made, although, i had to watch it a few times to really "get it". This one made me jump a bit, can get a little freaky, but it's definitely a thinker. I own this one.

On the lighter side, i love the following movies when i'm straight, so i daresay they'd be awesome when baked:

* Super Troopers (Littering and...Littering and...Littering and...)
* Kung Pow - Enter the Fist (I am a magician!...your shirt is RED!!!)

The Toxic Avenger is pretty good too.

Props to Harold and Kumar, the EXTREEEME guys had me rollin.

Team America is destined to be a classic.

Half Baked is prolly the one ive seen the most.

I was watching that on the weekend again - Hilarious! :D

Shawn of the Dead is my favoured one.

Since I don't have the patience to sit and watch movies. I tend to watch shows like Family Guy, League of Gentlemen, Futurama, Spaced, Black Books etc when i'm in that state.
 
if you like watching freaky movie when stoned, try 'the wall: the movie' by pink floyd. the music and the pic will freak you out pretty bad.

this movie i watched lately, sin city starring bruce willis... i watched it with a clear head, but i'm sure it will make a cool stoner movie.
 
Haha I was gonna start a thread like this to ask for suggestions cos I'm planning a 'stoner video night'. So far on my list of movies to watch i have:

alice un wonderland

I guess i'm gonna have to whittle it down a bit.. :\

any 80's/early 90's arnie movie

the above were mentioned for their cheesy goodness (yes i like udder crap movies when stoned) :D

as mention earlier harold and kumar

cheech and chong up in smoke of course! daanaa naa daanaaa daa daa daa !!!! air guitar's along ;)

half baked is good the first 100 times ;)

baraka is good if your looking for something thats not hollywood hog wash
 
The Big Lebowski is by far the best of them all ... I've seen it 5 times now and I'd still want to see it another 500 times

The plot, the guy's acting, the side-characters ... everything.
Just perfect! Too bad the Spanish translation of the movie sucks ass.
 
hasnt this been done before? personally i prefer to watch my favourite stoner band lol... speaking of oasis. the live dvd of them at wembley stadium in 2000 is by far the best gig ever performed... ever. just my 2 cents lol.

haha me and my friend had a movie night the other night and just rented movies, got stoned, and ate popcorn. we rented harold and kumar go to white castle, reefer madness, and half baked.....theyre all pretty fuckin funny except i think the funniest is reefer madness just because its so fuckin stupid haha
 
cant believe noone has mentioned 'how high' with redman and method man. me and my mate must have watched this about 50 times while so fuckin ripped

i think a few of you missed the point of the thread.. i didn't intend for discussion about 'movies that are cool when you are stoned', but more so about 'movies where the plotline is based around getting/being stoned'.. that said, some cool suggestions here!! im off to fill up the video shelf :)

Oasis are considered EASILY the worst ever live band in the rock'n roll circus ... seriously, THE WORST.

The most boring, the most unimaginative, the least energetic (which is surprising considering the coke they do), the dullets least creative little poor excuse for a band that's ever existed.

Umm ...
