Movies and Drugs[MEGA MERGED]

Movies to watch when stoned?

I don't mean stoner movies, but like trippy deep thought/stylized action movies.

Heres a few for examples-
Equilibrium
Requiem for a Dream
Donnie Darko
 
Try Waking Life. Its animated in a unique way, where the artists drew over the top of real film. It was brilliant. Absolutely fucking superb!

Its based on the theory of whether we are living through dreams or sleep-walking through life. It plays out like a documentary of people giving opinions, and just seems to flow deeper and deeper. A real thinking movie :)

Requiem was a terrific movie, but also one of the most terrifying I've ever seen! I came out of the cinema cold and scared. I don't think I could stand to watch it while stoned!!!
 
I like crazy, action movies when im geeked. I really enjoyed seeing the last matrix movie in the theatres first day after a blunt. It all seems so real.

Comedy shit is cool too. Check out Dave Chapelle, hes a stoner fo sho.

fearless hyena from jackie chan, old movie, but the fighting scenes, they are so detailed, the matrix is NOTHING compared to this, i was baffled when i saw the movie tonight. can't wait to see the second part tomorrow :)
 
^^Fear and Loathing in Las vegas is a excellent suggestion...

^^Dazed and confused is even better!!!! Used to watch this film all the time!! It is an all-time great!

Other suggestions though:

Waynes World
Monty Python and the meaning of life
Jay and Silent bob Strike Back
Billy Madison , or any other Adam saddler movie

If you're looking for trippy films, then I suggest you purchase 'The Labirynth' and 'The Dark Crystal' both by Jim Henderson......these are possibly the most surreal childrens films i've ever seen. Both are fantastic. Plus david bowie is in Labirynth, which is a very cool bonus!!!
 
sparkle jez thank god you reminded me of that movie!! i loove the dark crystal and jim hendersons creations, they're so amazingly beautiful it's undescribable, i have to see it again!! highly recommended ;)

Waking Life <--great movie but dont watch it too much, it gets really lame and annoying.

A movie I can watch over and over is Pi, it was written and directed by Darren Aronofsky, the same guy that did Requiem for A Dream. Pi is done in a style similar to Requiem, but in my mind it is much crazier and not as depressing, more thought provoking. It was done before Requiem with a $60,000 budget and in black in white. Its badass, check it out.
 
If I'm going to watch a real trippy movie, I'd much rather be on something other than weed. Take something that will produce some visuals and let you appreciate color a bit more.

Like a dose.

For being stoned, I prefer a rather fast-paced comedy.

Yeah, I watched Dark Crystal round a friends house last night for the first time in about 10 years..he had it on DVD, and we were on E which made it even more cooler........It bought back some strange childhood memories!!!
We were glued to it , hardly spoke at all during the whole film. We sat there like kids with crossed legs and jaws hanging low to the ground, staring blankly at it without blinking!!! Only time we moved was to pick up beer!!!

It is incredible stuff.....It really does put you in a different place.
 
I'm surprised that it hasn't been mentioned already: Pink Floyd's The Wall.

Drugs and an appreciation for Pink Floyd's music helps to understand this film so much better.
