Miscellaneous Rants Part V

The rude counter lady at Dendy Circular Quay.

No hello or anything, just wanders out of the office and says "Yes?"

Has "yes" replaced the salutation of "hello" has it?

I didn't think so either.

It's a shame New Australian races fail to assimilate with polite culture.

^^ haha, i've not heard anyone other than my 87 year old great aunt use the term New Australian.

did you ever think maybe she was just having a bad day?
i was having a crap day today and i'll be the first to admit that my behaviour probably came across as rude.

being impolite does not necessarily have anything to do with ethnicity you realise 8)

^ Thanks for that, and yes, understood.

However, she is there everytime I go, and she always says the same thing, with the same tone of voice. So, ignoring the possibility she has been having a bad day for the last year and a half, I will contribute it to race.

Have you done any travelling around Asia Astrosmurf? Better still have you had any business dealings with people of Asian nationality? Or even, when was the last time that you were in Sydney? With the risk of being very unpopular, a very large majority of Asian retail/Hospitality workers in Sydney are blatently rude in comparison to their White alternative. Having had a lot of business and travel expreience in Asia I contribute it to a culture gap. The Asian culture, from my experience, is very "Yes, what do you want. here you go bye" type of thing. They are not interested in the friendly salutations, they just do it with minimal fuss and bother and move onto the next item. No one with any amount of experience with Asian people can possibly argue against this. This is just how their culture is, especially in China, doing business with The Chinese is one of the most arduous things you will ever do.

I respect that their culture is this way. However, in a City like Sydney, where customer service is a very competitive industry, their culture does stand out a mile. Especially when you walk away from any shop, service, or facility thinking how rude the initial point of contact for that business was. The initial contact for a business should be the friendliest thing you can find, because it makes people feel good about going there, and on the reverse these people will return because of that.

If I have to be branded a racsist for being realistic about the matter then so be it, however, I still stand to my opinion, along with a large majority of Sydney siders, that rude, or less polite, hospitiality is becoming more and more frequent amongst the Asian workers in Sydney, and has been for a long time.

Thats my justification.

i realise i'm the one who hijacked this thread in the first place, but there's enough of this type of discussion going on in other threads so i'll put a stop to it before the this one gets taken over too.

My rant? If your going to call someone in the middle of the night, make sure that you're dialling the correct fucking number.

4 phone calls in the middle of the night at 1.30am, 2.00am, 2.30 am and 4am...

ALL WRONG NUMBER CALLS... from the same person. Cockhead.

not impressed.:X

MUSIC HATES ME!!!

Seriously...when I moved into my new house I had a very snazzy and expensive multi-disk cd player with flashy lights and surround sound speakers and so forth that I couldn't wait to use. The whole 18 months I was in Sydney it had been in storage in Melbourne, so I hadn't used it for a while obviously.

It won't play CD's. At all. I have a CD collection of more than 700 titles, and it won't play a SINGLE ONE!!!!

Then I remembered I also have a dvd player! Happy day! At which point I learned my dvd player will only play cd's which have been burned, not store-bought. And I am such a cd nazi that I only have about 8 or 9 cd's which have been burned because I always get sooky about wanting to have the original cover and booklet and pretty art and so on....

Anyway, I thought this was just restricted to my house; I am at my sister's house now and am stuck listening to fucking FOX or MMM or some shit because I can't change the station under pain of death. I thought I'd raid my nephew's cd collection for some background noise, and this is a sample of what I found in my 17 year old nephew's cd library;
  • Bryan Adams
  • Toni Braxton
  • Jon Bon Jovi
  • Maroon 5
  • Savage Garden
..and the horror goes on. I don't understand it. Two years ago he wanted to be Eminem...now he wants to be a 60 year old woman??

To add insult to injury, I eventually found a Metallica cd cover...YAY! Except that when I open it....there's nothing in it. All his covers have either non-matching discs (which are still all CRAP!) or have nothing at all in them.

I think I'm going to cry. Or go on a murder spree. Maybe both.

Le Sigh.. :(

Oh, and while on the music thing....I mentioned to someone at work the other day that I heard a punk band doing covers of kid's songs like Nelly the Elephant and The Banana Splits theme song and so on, and the girl who sits next to me at work pipes up with "punk? You mean like A Simple Plan?"

*vein throbbing in temple*

God, what a jerk you are.

Name calling again proves to be the most elementary form of insults.

Love your work.

What an excellent attempt at constructing a moral highground for yourself, mr. racist dickwad :)

I wouldn't worry too much however, perhaps I too am just a New Australian (gah, what a fucking condescending term) and thus simply a validation of your little race theory.

Love your work. 8(

See, my housemates (two of them anyway) love Bon Jovi, because they understand the irony that while it's not exactly sublime lyrics and genius lyrics, it's fun. But my nephew loves them because they're horribly undeniably MOR. Why O why can't he know who Rammstein is?

*cries*

ARRRRRRRRRRR

AAAAARRRR

This morning I was woken up at 7.30, with 2 guys dressed in the blue, the bloody police.

"They go is that your car" Im like yes it is.........." Very nice car....to bad you wont be driving it for a long time"

Im like eh? why?

You received a letter, that you have lost your license due to points. In that letter it gave you the information as to where you would have to hand it in.

I honestly didnt receive it! The paper work shows that the day they issued it was 5 months ago. If i had received i would have turned my license in, and would have it back by now.

Tonight im planning to go on a PUB CRAWL, how the fuck am I going to get in with out a license! Or proof of age. And no I cant use a passport because my brother is a bouncer and by law if the photo is more than 10 years old, which it is, they cant use it!

And I have just bought a WRX, like 1 month ago, and I cant drive it for 3 months!!!!!

Fuck you stupid airport cunts in Geneve for LOSING MY LUGGAGE!
Photos, 5 pairs of new Malonos, presents for people and lots of sentimental items are now all gone due to your imcompetance and stupidity.
GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

FUCKING FUCKING!

I just got this in an email:

My name is Kayla Wightman. I am 15 years old, and i have a lung
cancer from second hand smoke. I also have a large tumor in my brain, from repeated beatings. Doctors say I will die soon if this isn't fixed, and my family can't pay the bills. The Make A Wish Foundation, has agreed to donate 7 cents everytime this message is sent on. For those of you who send this along, I thank you so much, but for those who don't send it, what goes around comes around. Have a heart, please. If you don't send this to everyone on your list you have a cold heart (Kayla Wightman) please copy not forward this e-mail send this on thanks guys and gals

Firstly, Why do people actually beleive that the Make A Wish Foundation will give 7cents to poor little Kayla for everyone it's sent to? I'm sure they have better things to do than track some crappy email from server to server. Hell, this Kayla chick could setup 10,000 email addresses send it to each one and there is $700 right there.

Secondly, the statement I've bolded makes my blood boil. Manipulating people into sendind on a stupid, pointless email, that serves no purpose at all, apart from filling my inbox, is really wrong and makes me wonder what people will actually beleive. "If you don't send this on, you'll get cancer"

Also, I just noticed the bit about having a large tumour from repeated beatings. If your parents are beating you, goto the police and maybe you will get some treatment for the tumour and hopefully the bit in your brain that is saying you'll get 7c per email.

Why oh why do people honestly think this will help poor little Kayla? Instead of making someone feel guilty for not sending it on, save them the trouble of even opening it and just hit 'delete'.

That is all.

They actually do have a point.

Though it will make you even more angry.

Emails like that one and countless others are sent out en masse by companies, knowing that by the time it returns back to them it will be chock full of valid and active email addresses + names.

This information they then sell.

Ahh, so I'm not as heartless as what swifty says!

I want to take down such companies as that is using the compassion (albeit a little stupidity) of people to get a crumby email address.

fucking hell, really? I can't believe I never thought of that. Not that I forward that stupid shit on anyway.

^^ even though we are the few that actually call bullshit on these emails, they still get our addresses beacuse they're on the emails that actually do get forwarded. :(
