I'm sure I'm probably alone (or certainly in the minority) in this, but the rhetoric on mephedrone needs to stop. Telling people a chemical is bad for them is what is done in schools and is not harm reductive.
Abstinence promotes ignorance. Information promotes knowledge.
Here are my feelings. Some people have bad reactions to mephedrone. Some people also have bad reactions to all the drugs done on this site. Our goal is to provide information on how to most safely engage in these drugs -- not to say "let's not do this". The only study I know on mephedrone is a survey from Mixmag (a rave culture magazine) that says 15% of users report cold or blue fingers. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/10004383) I guess I haven't experienced the negative side effects of mephedrone. Even when I took too much as an initial dose this past weekend I never experienced cold or blue anything -- I was pouring sweat =P Vasoconstriction from 4-methylephedrine is about all we know about mephedrone. I think in the end we'll find mephedrone has its pluses and minuses -- like any drug we do.
I do agree with your final point, though. This is what did me in with the methylone and mephedrone combo -- I was FAR too stimulated. Reached a fever of 40`C / 101.9'F and sat outside in the cool air with a fan blowing on me (I had already gotten water with lime juice added for electrolytes).
I've also heard that the mephedrone overpowers the MDMA when the two are combined from a post in this community from another forum. I don't know how true this is, but after experiencing methylone and mephedrone, I have absolutely no intention of trying it.
I feel, after having done MDMA last Thursday (a very magical roll at that) and having done MDMA last Saturday that I find mephedrone to be far superiour to MDMA in more ways than just the complete lack of hangover and gentle "drop-off" as opposed to the drawn out drama-fest of the MDMA comedown.
Those arguing that we know nothing about mephedrone and more about MDMA as an argument need to understand that research SHOULD be done on mephedrone and I'm fairly certain we'll find it's gentler on the brain than MDMA in at least one key way.
Brain zaps on MDMA I've heard after two to three days of abuse -- for me it was always four or five. Mephedrone I've heard of people going for two week benders on the stuff (which I suppose is, in and of itself, a con) until they experienced brain zaps.
We don't fully understand what brain zaps are (they're related to epilepsy -- http://www.epilepsy.com/node/962506 ), but they're most certainly not good. I agree we need to take precautions with mephedrone, but if we're talking the high -- I'll take 4-mmc > mdma any day of the week. Same goes for the immediate side effects -- especially for those who have lost the magic and know the hell that is a suicide tuesday.
Isn't MMC MUCH more stimulating than MDMA though? That would be a huge downside... tachycardia is not my idea of fun. Which is why even though I'm craving methylone like a mofo, I won't touch it again for awhile and will just be patient until Molly visits.
I have no desire to any more soon- I'm saving what I have for New Years. Certainly, if you take any substance to extremes, the effects can be ugly.
MDMA is a million times better than mephedrone.
I had just finished a 2.7g baggie of mephedrone, snorting, drinking, encapsulating every day for 3 days until it was gone.
Never even came close to MDMA's feeling.
Plus, you don't feel like your body hates you more than you could imagine when you take it.
Hope to see more MDMA going around here in Canada..
I actually think that it will cause problems in the future but thats just my opinion, u see people who review all the new reasearch chemicals and there quiet messed up already. Personaly i will only take substances that have been researched on for many years. Although i did try meph, i can't wait to try mdma seems like the best thing ever on first go and i know alot of regular users envy new users with fresh tolerance![]()
