^ I have seen doctors script Percocet to a friend while he waited untill he could get into a methadone program.

If its an old family doctor whats it going to hurt he knows about your addiction already and who knows he might be sympathetic or at least he could give you some thing non-opiated to help with the

Why dont you just slowly ween down on your methadone while you look for a doctor that will script your some Buprenorphine, or you booted from the program and need and opiate filler to get by untill you start up methadone again, I am confused.

tough call...it took me like four tries to finally get off methadone. i tryed kicking 80 mgs, couldn't do it. after 7 days i broke down and begged for more time, even tho i had fucked up royally. with the time i was able to reduce to 30 mgs, but couldn't quite go down anymore. from 30 mgs i went to detox and kicked in a week with the help of phenobarbitol (bad shit, btw). then i went right back on again at a different clinic (i just talked my way in) and end up kicking 55 mgs cold turkey. it was VERY difficult, but i survived and i learned alot about opiate addiction. rule one, never get strung out. period.

its possible, but bup is good, too, i guess. ive tried it. its good and bad. just another addiction, tho. but fuck, when your a "poly drug abuser" like me its so easy to switch. problem is the regulations (fucking politicians) make it hard for ppl that need help to get it. maybe that will change.

but i would suggest reducing to a tolerable level and then just stopping. something below 30 mgs. and try like hell to get some valium or xanax or ambien or something. i remember being so sick i could hardly leave the house, but still trying to get pills. i never did find any. i was totally unprepared. i just knew i didnt want to be a slave anymore. methadone is a bitch. i learned the hard way.

you'll make it through, i know you will. how ever you do it, i wish you luck. and dont forget that imodium AD perscription. it works.

(oh and thats bullshit. anydoctor with a DEA lisence can perscribe 10 mg methadone pills. assholes. there like that at the hospitals too. unless you stay the night, and then they just give you methadone, usually without checking. i could talk them into it even when i wasn't on the clinic. wacked out system. i wouldn't suggest these things, im just saying how stupid and pointless it all is)

My friend just stepped off a 3 year methadone program after dropping slowly to 6mgs than he stopped, he experienced w/d symptoms for 2 months and counting [its probably closer to 3 months now] and he is still in discomfort and basically a mess. At first he could not sleep for 3 weeks [a wink here and there]. Pure hell and he was medicated with more appropriate meds that what you got scripted. I wont bore you with all the w/d symptoms he experienced and is still dealing with.

Best of luck to ya... (if you can kick methadone you win a gold star in my book)

2-3 months of w/d's for methadone, that is truly insane. I have heard that it is bad, real bad actually, 100 times worse than H or Oxy for that matter, but 3 months! And, 3 weeks without really any sleep is pretty insane as well. I thought that I had it bad, but this makes my symptoms look like a walk in the park.

I mean I deal w/ loose stool, sleepless nights, 'worms under the skin', jitteriness at work, achiness, sweaty palms/pits, hot flashes, extreme chills, no appetite, and depression/anger - all forms of w/d for me.

I know people puke, which I am thankful I have not experienced, but I am very curious to know of what else could there be for w/d symptoms?

Of note, methadone is what has gotten me the closest to being able to quit Oxy's. A couple of times I have scored ten biscuits and have tapered myself down to nothing over two weeks, only to fall off the wagon a week later. I think that if you can manage it right, methadone seems to be pretty effective for kicking. However, after being on a 3 year program, tapering has got to become very difficult.

2-3 months? oh god. i just went from 150mg/day of methadone, to straight pharms (OCs, dillies, msir, mscontin, etc.). i swear that i could take a dixie cup of pills and not feel a damn thing, even after 3 weeks. my plan was to switch to the shorter acting opioids, then switch back to a lower dose of 'done, then taper off. now i'm scared shitless. i have the super duper pharm connection. i can go in and drop $900 and get a bag of whatever i want, including syringes, pills, actiq, duragesic...whatever.

ugh.

i'm just trying to find a way to come down. i will never (ever) recommend mmt to anyone.

i go to a fu fu clinic that charges up the ass. i haven't been in a few weeks, and have stock-piled a bunch of 'done. i have my fingers crossed that i don't hit the 2-3 months. i HAVE to kick, or else. it's my time. i'm shooting 10 8mg dillies and not getting high, plus taking 5 OCs and a handful of other narcs. it's insane.

my clinic set-up a friend of mine, and totally fucked him. we live in a fucked-up world in the us of fucking a.

someone help :(

^^^^what about Bupe, would that not hold you??? you'd probably have to start on a high-as-fuck dosage, but at least it would be of some relief......it has been for me.....

btw nat-----wtf is a "fu fu" clinic????

Methadone detox, almost two weeks later still w/d'ing? *update*

Two Saturdays ago was the last time I dosed methadone, 100mg's. Thats less than half my normal dose and I had took that dose for almost a whole week in a effort to aid in my detox. Sunday comes and I started feeling sick I took the last of my oxy, 480mg's, fucking waste that was.

Anyways, Monday morning I started my detox with a high dose of loperamide (imodium), 60mg's, and yes it helps, a lot. I took the same dose Tuesday and Wednesday but on Wednesday the with-drawls they got the better of me, I took 80mg's oxy and 40mg's hydro. Thursday and Friday I took 48mg's loperamide, this past Saturday I took 20mg's hydrocodone then this Monday 20 more mg's along with 12mg's hydromorphone. Since then I've not taken anything but loperamide. Tuesday I dropped down to 36mg's Thursday (yesterday) I dropped down to 24mg's and I felt great yesterday, I thought I was finally done. Then I woke up at 5am this morning and was beginning to feel the w/d's again. I took 12mg's loperamide and then passed back out for a couple hours, feeling worse I took 8 more mg's. Now I feel absolutely fine. The loperamide usually works for almost 24 hours, 22-24 hours depending on the dose.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but I think I may be with-drawling from the loperamide, this is something I never imagined possible but it's the only possible thing I can conclude.

The last time I detoxed from methadone I switched to two-three doses of hydrocodone a day 40-80mg's, for seven days and after that I went onto loperamide for three days. On the fourth day I was fine.

I'm pretty fucking irked at this, I don't get why I'm still getting sick almost two weeks later.

Anyone care to elaborate?

Sorry that I can't really help with you rproblem but I just wanted to ask, did you have this methadone habit without getting it prescribed from your doc? I just would of thought that if you were you would be able to taper down far slower. I can't imagine having to come off of that amount in that short space of time,

very very well done, hang in there 'cause it sounds like you're through the worst of it.

yes, I was getting it from a friend. But funds have run short for me now. I've got a baby on the way that I have to worry about more so than my addiction. I also wanted to add that I've been getting pains both sharp and dull in my kidney area and also in the area of the appendix. At first I associated these pains with constipation, which still may be the cause I'm sure. But who knows......

its down to half lives, in that methadone has a very long one. If i was you i would titrate the amount you are addicted to eg 50mg, then reduce 5% each week if you want a relatively painfree wd. If you go fast like you are you will get this wd. IMO loperimide will only work if you are on small amounts or new to opiates.

Cant you get any bupe, then you are in for a more quicker, less painful detox?

The pain maybe due to constipation or many things.

Personaly i would never reduce at the rate you are trying you are doomed to fail in a way. Subutex is your quick answer or its a painful ride u r in for.

But i really hope you succeed - good luck

I think loperamide will help absolutely ANYONE in the right dose. Since my last detox (which went great, as posted above) I've only been using for about 4-6 months, I can't remember exactly, but it's not been that long to say that I'm doomed here. As of now I'm doing great on my 4th day with nothing but loperamide and not craving anything. I've not had and heroin since July 4th last year. Methadone is easy for me to forget about. And with regular exercises I'm hoping to aid in the upcoming depression.

Also, all together I've only been on methadone since late June last year. Again, not to long.

It'll be 14 days as of tomorrow and you're telling me that I'm still with-drawling from methadone? I assumed that using shorter acting opiates while still in the hands of methadone WD would just extend my WD according to the half life of the shorter acting opiates (2-4 days). I also assumed that since last the last time I detoxed from 200mg's every other day the wd's were over completely in 10 days that this time would be easier/faster.

so after only a few months with basically the same habit as last time it's going to last almost three times as long?, I don't believe it. There is absolutely no way you can accurately say that. Especially with all the details that I have offered.

I was NOT a daily user, and I was not on it that long. My normal dose was 210-230mg's.

if you were on 210-230mg/day of methadone, then you'll be lucky to be all the way through w/d's in 3 weeks. methadone has a crazy ass way of sticking around. i haven't had any in 3-4 weeks, and i still feel the affects. it's true, kapheen. it's not necessarily just about the half life with methadone. after a certain period of time, taking anything over 70mg/day, your receptors become flooded to all hell...then you are just adding ontop of that, it's storing in your fat cells and keeping you bound to it.

methadone w/d's that i have heard of have taken as long as 6 weeks to get all the way through. granted they aren't as intense as a short acting w/d (like heroin for instance), but they just drag on and on and on...

sorry. i would love to tell you different. plus, every time you introduce opiates into your system, you are essentially starting over, and that's where you may have screwed up with the oxy and hydro.

g/l man. we're in similar boats, only i'm using the shorter acting opiates to cut through the 'done w/d, then i will start to w/d from them, switch to bupe and glide to a full stop.

man. i hope that i never get so addicted again.

no doubt, it's just I've read about people going cold turkey after years of use and being good in two weeks. The w/d's that I'm feeling are pretty minor but still it pisses me the fuck off, especially when I can't sleep, that's what gets me the worse.

Regardless I AM getting clean and staying clean. Fuck this shit, this chapter, book rather, is closed as far as I'm concerned.

MrCool's opiate withdraw remedy!!

can anyone tell me why taking zyban is large dosages 1200mgs a day and 2000mgs of l-tyrosine along with exercise has gotten me through 6 days opiate wd without any wd symptoms at all. NONE! not even the shits. And believe me I know what wd is all about. I was taking 150-200mgs of oxys and hydros combined for about 2 1/2 years and have had to endure wd a couple times and it was horrible. which is what I expected this time but...... Here I am 6 days out and I haven't even thought about opiates for 4 days and when I did I could easily dismiss it, just like when I quit smoking with zyban.
I feel better than good. I feel great. Is opiate addiction and nicotine addiction come from the same part of the brain and that is why it worked. If anyone has any ideas about why this worked so well.

This treatment produces a mild amphetamine effect that is not unpleasant.

If anyone has any ideas about why this worked so well please tell me!

cut off my last sentence
