Mega Merged WD Thread

Tongue said:
what do you mean its so hard adjusting to sobriety??please explain...

hes talking about the feeling of not knowing what to do with yourself and all this new found time on your hands. that seems (atleast to me) to be the number one reason why people start using again.

and the bit about wellbutrin, ive had the same experience of it lessening withdrawl(physical) but as ive learned from a few years of experience what you put off must be delt with eventually (harder mental wd)

so its all up to what you think youre better at handling, personally i would take the physical hardships over increased mental ones anyday.

well i only chew the patch.. i don't put it on since i'm relatively new to opiates, and i had zero tolerance before i started to use the patches, i only ocasionally popped some morphine here and there. but now i've gone from i tiny piece to quite a big one in just 2 weeks. i haven't even used up my first patch but it's almost gone now.. i've gone cold turkey this morning, i feel like i've got a cold but it's nothing serious. i think i'll get away with it this time. :)

oh, you will be completely fine--I thought your use was more excessive. Good luck, take some time off from work/school, and get some rest.

Just an update..

Well, Two more days and I'm 4 weeks of the 'done.

I used dope for a week and a half and some hydrocodone the past three days. It's been 13 hours since I took anything and I'm feeling pretty good, minor hydrocodone with drawls. I was taking 5-6 5/500's every 6 hours. 10-12 grams of apap a day(eww).

I discontinued the use of loperamide as I felt that even though it did help greatly, it was fuckin with my insides hardcore.

Thats twice now I've detoxed off of a high dose of methadone. So to everyone that don't think it's possible.:p :p

Well obviously there's a way to take the APAP out. But with such small doses I feel as though I'd be wasting to much. It's not like I'm piling up on it all at once. 5-6 grams every 12 hours.

I think the APAP hype is over rated as it is. It can indeed be dangerous, especially to someone who's not used to taking so much. I used to get sick off of 4 grams, now it don't phase my stomach at all. I definitely don't recommend using so much APAP. If you've got a low tolerance do the CWE. You wont lose much of your drug, at least nothing to worry about with a low tolerance.

kapheen......
I havent had methadone WD's, but I have had OxyContin WD's. I withdrawled for 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. The worst thing I have ever EVER gone through, and thats real. I have been told that the methadone WD is even worse, so I feel for you. The only reason I got through my WD's without doing some is I was in jail and had no choice. Good luck to you and just ride it out, you will feel so much better. The first day you wake up and dont WD, you will know it was worth the pain and agony. You will battle the addiction all your life, but the WD's just suck ass. And of course Im talking about OxyContin when I say I WD'ed. good luck

i think people make a mistake when tey compare themselves to others, when it comes to detox/withdrawals...i have found that it differs from person to person...imo, it is totally POSSIBLE to still be WDing in the third week from a METHADONE detox, especially if you are continuing to take other lighter opiods...i kicked a good sized OXYCONTIN habit, and although i wsnt in actual PAIN late in my 2nd eek, i was still very DEPRESSED, BORED to dath, no motivation, and still was only getting maybe4 hours of sleep pernight..like u said, insomnia is the worst, as it prolongs ye misery to 24 hours a day, andwhen you arent able to experience any sort of calm/pleasure/satisfaction from even your favorite activities, it is total hell..

like said, i have heard stories of peope saying they kicked a 20 year smack addiction, and they felt finewi thin 5 days..it is possible, but very hard to believe...most peole i know personally have told me that their withdrawals NEVER SEEM TO END, thats why so many go back to using..the lingering depression/boredom is the bitch..

maybe u have PAWS, post acute withdrawal symptoms??people with this tend to withdrawal up to 2 months!!believe it or not.

I agree kapheen, keep us posted. While your WDing, it might be good for you to talk with people on bluelight (swybs for example) for any questions you may have. Just like Tongue was saying, and im sure you know kapheen, sleep is a rare and badly wanted thing while WDing. During the sleepless and boring hours, jump on here and talk to one of us bluelighters so your mind doesnt wander into bad, negative thinking. I also agree that everyone differs. Two friends of mine can do OC for a long period of time and kick it pretty easy. Me on the other hand, im fukked for 3 weeks at least. And during those three weeks, im going crazy, not sleeping, having the worst headaches imaginable, calf and thigh cramps, I sweat profusely from my arms, hot and cold flashes all night long........its literally "A Living Hell". But with my Dad's side of the family, there is a history of substance abuse whether it be alcohol, medications or whatever. My Moms side is really really mormony and therefor I have no idea if that gene helps me out or burries me more. Good luck man, and keep me posted as well.

maybe it was placebo, but for sleep pains in your legs ^ potassium (supplements or food with high concentrations of potassium, such as bananas) seemed to work wonders and alleviate my horrible leg cramps.

Also, I always strayed away from OTC sleep aids, but I find brand name Unisom to be the best thing (well, better than ambien, but not stronger than seroquel).

swybs........what is unisom? Is it over the counter or what? I would love to come across a sleep aid better than ambien that isnt a script drug?

Sorry to say it, but the physical wd is nothing compared to the months of sleepless nights, and anxiety filled days. There is a reason why so many people end up back on methadone.

unisom is OTC

Kapheen-

How long were you taking methadone prior to stopping your last dose [last dose being: 100mg, 1/2 of your normal dosage]? If you dont already know methadone w/d's are long, long being months. Of course you should still be experiencing w/d's just 2 weeks later not to mention all the other opiates you have thrown in to help ease your original w/d's.

My friend recently detoxed of methadone by stepping down in a correct manner and than stepping off methadone completely at around 10-15mgs. He experienced w/d's intense for 4 weeks [no sleep for 2 weeks even with heavy sleepers, a week here and there but basically no sleep], noticeble everyday w/d pains for 2 months and in month 3 he was still experiencing some minor physical w/d's not to mention psychological cravings. He folded his cards and used dope a handful of times at about the 3 month period.

You should count yourself lucky, you seem to being doing just fine. As for w/d's from the Immodium its all in your head which in turn can manifest in physical w/d feelings but chances are you are still in w/d from methadone and opiates in general.

Best of luck to ya...

Unisom is an over the counter, pfizer-owned product with simply diphenhydramine HCl. Now, I took the tablets, and maybe it is psychological effect over the cheaper formulations (and less "official" looking formulations), but half of a tablet put me out under extreme circumstances. 1 tablet, whole, caused me to have one of the best sleeps I have had (without drugs, per say) in many, many moons.

Also, if I haven't made this clear- I highly recommend people NOT take such high doses of loperamide (that Kapheen mentioned), since there is another post speaking of the dangers and, well, I have been unable to find any medical studies showing dangerous levels, but I would suspect that it becomes dangerous in doses over 20mg in a 24 hour period. If someone could correct me, please let me know, but above that, and I think I would prefer the WDs than worrying that my body is going to start pushing shit out of my ears...

DJ, Unisom is a sedating antihistamine sold OTC as a sleep aid. For some, it works great yet for others, it barely works at all. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) has the same effects, can work wonders for some and not at all for others. Actually, it's really the same deal with Ambien. Ambien worked wonders for me for like 5-7 days then just crapped out and hasn't worked since. I stopped taking it after about 10 days then tried it again like a month later then like 3 months after that and it didn't work at all either time (up to 30 mg). Benadryl, Unisom, and Melatonin are IMO the best OTC sleep aids. Others include valerian root, kava kava, and even chamomile tea or warm milk w/ honey.

well, when i am withdrawing badly, i do NOT want to gt on theinternt at all!!i basicaly just lay there and watc tv, in a zombie state...i can force myself to exercise, but i stress i must FORCE myself..

weird thing is when i detoxed from OXY, i didnt have ANY CRAVINGS WHATSOEVER!!!this still strikes me as odd, but its true...id rather have the craving than the endless sleepless nights...

I agree that high doses of loperamide could very possibly cause some rather serious internal damage, from a blockage to some appendix or kidney damage. I was taking 48-60mg's of it per day for almost 2 weeks straight. Around the 8th or 9th day I began having pains in my appendix area as well as my kidney area. I was also getting these weird kind of twitches or chills up my spine constantly. I'm guessing that I may have been screwing up my electrolyte levels, which is a not so good thing to do, heh.

blah, I had been using methadone since late June 2004. The first time I detoxed with 30-50mg's of hydrocodone every 8 hours for 7 days, followed by 3-4 days of loperamide. This was in October of last year, and my doses were ranging from 180-200mg's every 2-3 days. After the loperamide I was fine, no lingering with drawls at all. But that only lasted about 2 weeks till my life went down the shitter hardcore and the only thing I could get my hands on at the time to elevate my mood was 'done.

Anyways, I ended up using again, eventually raising my tolerance to the point where I would barely feel 240mg's 'done. At this point it was getting to costly especially since I've got a baby on the way. Which I plan on taking full responsibility for, like every father should. Also, I wanted to add that I was taking the methadone to get high. And yes, I got high. It was euphoric and it lasted a good amount of time. I don't get how people (supposedly) don't get high from 'done.

I've been an addict since January 2001, when I got my first IV dilaudid and a script for oxycodone when I got out of the hospital. It went from pharmies to dope to 'done, with a combination of all three at times.

Swybs, I stopped using loperamide daily at the end of my second week. I've been using it on and off since, I think I've only used it 3-4 times since then.

I'm 26 hours clean with absolutely nothing in my system. I've not taken loperamide since Monday morning.

As far as current with drawls, I feel a slight ball of energy in my chest, but it's really nothing to serious. I feel as though I'm going to sleep good tonight.

It's weird, I'm really not having many cravings this time around. I do have them, but they seem to be easily dismissed in my mind, maybe my prayers have been answered, lmfao.

I was on Duragesic 75 for a year...But I didnt have any withdrawls cuz I was/am still on other strong narcotics. A friend of mine tho said it was at its worst for 5-7 days. Regular hotflashes, cold sweats, the shits, and couldnt sleep. Only Bezo's and Heroin are worse.
