^Do you live with anyone who wouldn't approve of your future growing idea's? If so, Id probably go with the shed.

^ whichever is the most stealthy.

I assume that because you're in Australia you don't need to worry about low temps? If so, choose whichever is safest.

Nah i dont have to worry about the cold yet but i do have to worry about the heat it can get up to 40C but summer should be over soon.....But during the cold season it can get as low as 2-3C will that be a problem?i think i'll just do it in the spare room so i wont have to worry about weather. Will the weed smell the whole house out?we have rent inspection each 4 months or so will the smell stick around????Whats the best thing to use to get rid of the smell money is no object.....

Nah my family all smoke and dont give a shit if i grow in fact my dads gonna grow 2 plants and im gonna grow 2 plants and see whos turns out the best :D

It's a tricky situation with the rent inspection's every 4 months. Since your whole family smoke green, your best bet is to grow it indoors, but maybe a week or so before your rent inspection, take them outside.

Burn Incense for the whole week before the rent inspection. I had mates do it and they had no problems.

hi junkie scumbag, likethe name m8, you will have a problem with the smell cos theses baby, really do chuck out some strong odour im having the same problem now, but all you need to get as every one will tell you is a extract fan and a carbon filter, and as your lucky enough that money aint a problem, then you wont have to worry about the inspection, just get a good one like rhino they seem to be the best, look on ebay, and you wont have a problem, im only new to this but there is many more people ho will advise you the best and safest way to not get caught, which is the most important part, good luck

Yeah i know it's a bitch thanks mate i'll keep that in mind. What about those O-zone filters are they worth the price???
Im gonna put wood down and tarp under that and on top of it to avoid mold growing in there leave the window open all the time and cover the whole cupboard with foil.....Any other suggestions for setting up my grow space?Im a total noob when it comes to indoor growing so any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks alot mate ;) Im thinking of getting some O-zone filters (carbon filters) and 1-2 fans hopefuly that should keep the smell out.a week before my inspection i'll chuck em in the shed :D

Can you tell me anything about setting up the grow space?Like what do i have to do to aviod mold (or anthing that will damage the carpet or wodden doors) or disease's thanks again :)

well like i said im new to, and i have only one girl in a cupboard, i have not got my set up just right yet due to finances but all i did was paint he inside pure white as this reflects the light by bout 90%, i have a fan blowing fresh air in and a big hole in the top, i need o ge an extract, fan and carbon filter to extract the air and smell out of the top and in, the chimney , hat way there will be no smell and if any one comes hey wont know Wats behind the cupboard door ha

if you want to know any thing about growing your at the right place people like artificial emotion, wise and many others are fantastic, they will help no end and they no every thing there is to know , so just ask them m8 they will have all your answers, they are great people who just love to help other growers, so respect to them

lol alright mate no worries :) im gonna cover the inside of the cupboard with foil to reflect.......On another note i have started a experiment when i broke the crown off my plant first day of flower by mistake :! i put it in a glass of water to see if the crown will keep growing and it did the crown is actualy streching towards the window.Do you guys think if i leave the crown in the water and keep changing it and maybe adding TINY bit of fertilizer it will finish budding?

every 4 months?! dude. grow in the shed. figuring out how to effectively smell-proof an indoor grow space requires a serious time investment. you can't just throw any old plug-in filter into the grow box and expect it to work. odour travels with air, and air travels in all directions unless otherwise directed. in short, any air that leaves the box without first traveling through the filter will bear the smell. the only way to solve this problem is by designing a passive carbon filter that provides adequate filtering without posing more resistance than the fan pushing the air through it can support. aside from having to successfully match the pressure rating of the fan with the resistance of the filter(s), you would also have to ensure the fans are flowing enough CFMs to produce a flow (and consequently a vacuum) in the grow space so that the only place through which air actually exits the box is through the carbon filters.

that's not even to touch on how difficult it is to successfully quiet down an exhaust system that typically produces at least 50dB of noise. now, i don't know how thorough home inspections are in OZ, but your grow will draw attention if the filtration and noise issues are not seriously addressed.

if you're growing with a 600W HID then it should produce ample heat to keep a few plants warm just above freezing point. furthermore, low ambient temps are a major boon when using HID because it can allow you to drop the lamps closer to the plants without burning the leaves and deliver more lumen to the lower canopy.

to be on the safe side, can also look at procuring a strain with afghani lineage. they tend to be fairly hardy.

If you want to be truly stealthy, buy a wardrobe and convert it. Stick a high quality carbon filter with an inline fan on, extracting air out the top and out the window or through some other hole in the wall (many houses have ventilation holes in places, leading to the outdoors). If you have another fan taking air into the bottom of the wardrobe from the room and it's less powerful than the extraction (minus the resistance of the CF), then you'll have negative pressure and good smell control.

You could use one of these for a passive intake:

If you're careful and build it properly, you can make it so that nobody will suspect it even if they're in the room looking at it.

^ I still think the landlord might be sus about a noisy wardrobe with air ducting coming out of it. Also you'd have to lightproof it.

^ That's what silencers, acoustic fans and acoustic ducting are good for. A light baffle will easily get rid of light coming out the intake.

Ducting can be hidden too.

This all can be dealt with using the proper know how, Yerg.

Those photos were taken in a 30 second search, and are not representative of what you might have if you truly wanted to make it totally stealthy.

edit: I might like to add that I have a 6" LP Ruck extraction and intake, but when they're dialed down a bit using fan speed controllers, they are virtually inaudible. This is without a silencer or acoustic fans, or acoustic ducting. I would say variac fan controllers allow you to quieten your fans down to the point where if you have some warning, you can make them completely silent whilst still maintaining enough airflow to control odor with the carbon filter. So no need for expensive equipment, unless you're expecting unannounced visits when you're not in (in which case you probably would be fucked anyway, since people are usually essentially nosy fuckers).

hey AE, i desperately need some advice, i have a problem, as Nu know i have my girl in her second week of flower, well last week we got a letter of the council saying that they were coming today to do a yearly gas check, (typical) well my grow cupboard is in the room where the boiler is, so they were coming between 1pm and 6pm, so about nearly one pm, i turned off the light and removed all evidence so he wouldnt suspect any thing and all was cool, and then the fucker didnt turn up but foned to say they wouldnt make it today but ould be coming tomorrow between the same time, so now i dont know wat the fuck to do, i thought that today i ould leave the light off until it was due to come back on in the morning, so now i dont know wat to do, i cant wire the fan back up because they ill check that as well and i have moved it from where its supposed to be

also the rest of the room has the windows covered, you get the pic, so m question is ill my girl be ok in darkness from one pm today till maybe six pm tomorrow or will it cause her major stress and kill her or turn her hermi? Im so worried pls can you give me some advice, good or bad, i need to know how much damage if any this ill cause her, the fan is off and so is the light,
Have i fucked it or will she be ok?

Try and put a fan of some sort on her so that there's at least some air movement. Try and turn the lights on (the light bulb in the room your plant is in) when the grow lights would be scheduled to go on and turn them off when they should be off. If you have to disrupt the cycle then no, it won't do the plant any harm - just make sure the lighting schedule is kept as it should be from now on.

I would be more worried about the smell of the plant building up in your place, as there's no carbon filter. Since you're in the house all the time, your nose will be accustomed to the smell and you won't notice it. However, people coming into the house from the outside will potentially smell it immediately upon entering the flat.
