Magic Mushrooms/ Psilocybin in the UK

I'm in mid Wales and it's been an odd year so far. Found my first of the year back in May! Then nothing until the last few days in August, when there was a massive flush high in the hills for a week. Since then just the odd one or two, it's been far too dry for numbers.
Conditions are changing now- wet and cool nights- should be producing strongly by this weekend.

Savernake Forest seems an odd place for libbies to grow. I suppose there is some grass land around the forest that they might grow but isn't doesn't sound there natural habitat, guess they do though from what you said.

I'm thinking of a trip to the black mountains as it is pretty much a guaranteed spot in season and is a beautiful place as well. I know of spots locally but it is hit and miss and it is always disappointing coming back empty handed.

Yeah they wont be libs, which is why I asked because I wont really have an idea at what other species to look out for. I live really close, and its a very popular spot, seems like it should be a good time soon to pick in the south west.

Oh will probably be cyanescens never picked them but savenake is the perfect habitat for them from what I have read.

I've picked around 1,000+ so far, this is from North / North West Wales and surrounding areas. 2 grams is enough to put you on the fourth dimension, and there's nothing like scaling a mountain the middle of nowhere picking your own psychedelics. :D

I thought you was from Walsall Melancholy?? You're bypassing a fair few places if you are making that journey..!

Kinver is good, Ludlow, Malvern etc...

I mean to go every year but i just dont get round to it... has been to many years since i went picking :\

Happy Picking People...

I am from Walsall but I've moved to Wales for university :D I heard Ludlow was full of mushies but that's about 40 minutes away from Walsall (I think?), whereas these mountains are only 5 minutes away

Handy mountains you got there... yeah Ludlows are fair trek from Walsall but a dam bit closer than Wales, if that was the journey you was making.

I miss mushrooms...! I just don't have the time these days, I've barely the time to trip let alone forage.. being a grown up sucks sometimes...!

Enjoy your harvest ;)

Absolutely amazing! I've not found one!

haven't been picking for years personally but 3 people I know went out in mid-wales yesterday and came home with over 4000 between them

that's about standard for a couple of hours picking in full season in their particular area

Has anyone had any luck in the dales? I'm heading there on Sunday it's my first time picking! I'm confident I have identification covered but if someone could point me in the right direction as far as location that would be sweet. Obviously not expecting anyone to give away to much ;)

I tried kits (sterile substrate and separate spores in a syringe) on two occasions around 5 years ago. Both times I managed to get the mycellium to propagate through the substrate really well, but could not get them to fruit, as soon as I let the light get to them they just grew green mould instead. No idea what I was doing wrong, a guy I went to uni with used to have similar kits on the go all the time, and could grow cubensis mushies about the same size as my arm.

Would love to have another go again at some stage, I'm not too fussed about tripping on mushrooms these days but hate being beaten by a horticultural project - a sign I'm getting old I guess.

Living near a farm has its advantages - I now have Libs growing in my back garden! =D

Just my luck that I'm fucking moving! X_X

The effects of psychedelics are so subjective, I guess it would depend upon what the new user might be seeking. I personally found most of the South American species a little heavy, a bit more introspective, a bit less social. This is just a generalistion. I guess if the new user sought personal insights, religious revelation or something like that, dosing carefully with these sorts might be successful.

If on the other hand the new user were to be in a party or social enviroment of some kind, then I'd recomend the more uplifting Cambodian, or of course, Cyanescens or Libertys themselves.

Again, the effects of psychedelic mushrooms are so variable & subjective that I'm very wary about "recomending" any particular species because there's simply no way of knowing how a new user is going to handle it.

From my exp. cubensis dont vary too much from strain to strain. The growth conditions provide most, if not all, the varience in chemical composition.
Iv grown too many cubensis strains to mention and potency was equal across the board (providing substrate and growth conditions were the same) The only difference was aesthetic. Obviously semilanceata, cyanescence, azurescence etc ... are going to be a different story, but cubensis are cubensis. If you want to increase potency isolate some good rhizomorphic mycelium, transfer to jars, and spawn it to POO. Manure will give you more potency and larger shrooms/flushes than BRF or plain straw for eg. So, im going to assume your experiences with different cubensis strains was purely down to how the shrooms were grown. Eg, if some cambodians were grown in horse poo and some in BRF, the latter would be weak as fuck and less 'full on' in comparison to the h.poo shrooms. copelandia cyanescence are a good step up from cubensis if your interesed in growing your own. =D

Either the spores/substrate was dirty or you were =p I never tried the kits, but green mold starts white untill it sporulates, the spores are green. So, sadly, you might have been growing mold from the start? If you do have another bash at it, build a glove/still air box and it'll help keep contamination to a minimum. Treat it like your performing surgery, clean, clean and clean a bit more. Alcohol and oust are good tools to keep everything sterile. Good luck if ya do have another go.
